I chose to read this as a 52-day devotional, rather than a 52-week one, but i thought the format would work equally well for both. KK stars with a scripture study selection, then selects 2 different verses to bookend the week's (or day's) little miracle. Having read most (or all?) of her 'Miracles' books previously, I liked this devotional format better than the stories just by themselves. Anything that invites me into the Word of God is a good thing!

Encouraging!
This weekly devotional is a great way to encourage yourself to let change into your life and renew your faith in God. I love how the author uses real stories to connect people, and show examples of God's love. It strengthens your faith to hear stories and situations much like your own, especially when they come out the other side unscathed and better than ever. That's what this devotional is for, to make your faith stronger than stone.
I've always been a believer of God's tiny miracles, and this book enforces that belief. I know so many of you will feel the same as me, should you start reading it too.

I chose to read this each Sunday as a year-long devotional as suggested. I would say it was more of an inspirational book than a devotional one, but it was really excellent. Most of the stories brought tears to my eyes because they were so touching. I saw in other reviews that she has written other miracle books, so I am going to see what else she has written that I might want to read. I know her fiction books are really great.

Inspiring

This book appears to be compilation of other books on miracles Karen Kingsbury. I had read about two of her books on miracles before reading this one, so some of the stories were familiar. However, most were new to me and were inspiring. Several were tearjerkers. They were well written. A real blessing.

I never tire of the miraculous ways in which God works. I was so encouraged by each story in this little book. God cares for us so much. Even when we are unaware He is watching out for us in so many ways. This book is tremendous encouragement!!

The biggest problem with this book is that it’s hard to stretch it out over 52 weeks, I finished it in just over a week! It’s a very interesting and thought-provoking read, whether you share the faith behind the stories or not. A warm and hopeful book that gives you a lot to reflect on.

Stirred my soul! The stories were varied. Long enough to get a good perspective and short enough to read after daily devotions before work.
Each account is filled with the hope of a loving Heavenly Father.

I absolutely loved this book by Karen. I had planned since it was a 52 week devotional to read it daily but I enjoyed it so much I couldn't put it down till I had it finished. It was inspiring, uplifting, each miracle was told with lovely matching Bible verses. It really lifted me up and made me feel better about my Life knowing miracles are being played out everyday and we should really open our eyes and our hearts and appreciate them. I thank Karen for another wonderful Christian read. It is one I will treasure and keep in my collection to be read again and again.

Karen Kingsbury in her new book, “Miracles” published by Faithwords gives us A 52-Week Devotional.

From the back cover: Be changed by the power of God’s Miracles!

The Journey of life can be difficult. Discouragement and doubt can cloud the light of God’s love. But God is working to heal the brokenhearted and bring hope to the hopeless. God’s fingerprints are everywhere. All you have to do is look for them.

In this weekly devotional, Karen Kingsbury, #1 New York Times bestselling author, shares true examples of God;s powerful love in action. She combines true stories, illustrating spine-tingling miracle messages, with powerful scripture that will encourage you through every obstacle you face. These heartwarming devotions will inspire you to begin each week with renewed faith that all things truly are possible with God’s help. You will once again be awestruck by God’s power while strengthening your faith in His MIRACLES.

All of us, at some time, get into some kind of jam. Some of what we get into is life-threatening, some just seems as if there is no way out. That is the purpose for this book when we get into a jam that we cannot get out of God can do it for us. Ms. Kingsbury has given us 52 stories, one for every week of the year, that shows us situations that others had been in that God got them out of. Ms. Kingsbury has given us a devotional. She gives us a Bible verse at the beginning and then closes with another verse so that we can focus our minds on God and have our faith renewed. This is a great book. You will want to hold it in a special place on your shelf as you will be referring to it weekly to refresh your faith with these stories. This is also a great book to give as gifts to family and friends. They will think of you every time they put it to use. I recommend it highly.

Miracles is a book that brought a tear to my eye on more than one occasion. It is a 52-week devotional. It is basically 52 short stories that detail different miracles complete with Bible verses. These stories were very, very moving and inspiring. I summarized just a few at dinner with my family this weekend, and my kids were all riveted.

A couple of my favorite devotionals included stories of miracles that occurred for those that were struggling with being able to have children, or those whose lives were saved through miracles, and also friends and family that were separated because of misunderstandings, but then were reunited in a miraculous way. One of my favorite stories was a doctor that came home after a long day and was stopped by a little girl that said her mother was in trouble. The doctor went with her to her home and helped out her mother. The mother asked how she knew she was in medical distress and the doctor responded that her daughter had told her. The mother said that her daughter had died a few months ago. The doctor saw the same little girl coat hanging up that the girl had worn to come and get her. The angel of the little girl was watching over the mother and went for the doctor providing a miracle for the woman.

I also loved one explanation in the book when a woman wonders why God saved her from an accident that killed many others. Her father replied that God has a different time for everyone to be called home to heaven and it was not her time. I loved thinking about it like that. Some people are just wanted in heaven sooner than others.

Overall, I loved Miracles by Karen Kingsbury. It is a wonderful devotional about true miracles that have taken place through God that are inspiring and emotional to read. I have a few people on my Christmas list that I am going to buy this book for!

Do you believe in miracles? Do you wonder if miracles happen, why don’t we hear of them? Why are they not heralded on the news as much as the ’sadder’ stories of our day? Perhaps you want to believe in miracles. If so, Miracles: A 52 Week Devotional by Karen Kingsbury is just what you need.

This is a collection of 52 stories gathered from Karen Kingsbury’s Bestselling ‘Treasury of Miracles’ series which include: A Treasury of Christmas Miracles; A Treasury of Miracles for Women; A Treasury of Miracles for Teens; A Treasury of Miracles for Friends; and A Treasury of Adoption Miracles.

Each week read a true story of a miracle experienced by ordinary people leaving an extraordinary mark on their lives. The devotionals begin and end with a relevant scripture passage connecting each miracle to the God’s Word.

Because of its small size (7.1 x 5.2 x 0.8 in), this devotional would be perfect for your office or your glove box, kept within reach for those days when you need a bit of inspiration to regain your perspective. While reading this devotional for review, I keep mine on my nightstand for a quick thought each week.

The stories of this devotional are unique and thought provoking and because they are all true stories, a genuine warmth fills each one. Many of the stories were connected to scripture I had not read in a while. These are promises of God that promote perseverance, strength, joy and hope.

I recommend this book highly for anyone who would learn of the miracles around us that often go unnoticed but leave their mark on the lives that are faithful enough to notice.

Title: MIRACLES
Author: Karen Kingsbury
Publisher: Faithworks
November 2009
ISBN: 978-0-448-55795-5
Genre: Inspirational/devotional/miracles

MIRACLES is a 52-week devotional about stories where God stepped down and miraculously helped one of His people—sometimes by saving them from certain death, sometimes by answering prayers for children, sometimes by teaching them an important lesson about life and faith.

Each devotional starts out with a suggested Bible reading, then there is a verse in the sidebar of the story. After you read the story, another verse follows.

I’m not sure how this would really work as a devotional, as the stories were so engaging that I couldn’t put the book down. I had to keep reading it, going from page to page to page from start to finish of the whole book.

But, even if this book may not be used in the method it was intended, it is a very excellent read, and beautifully hardcopy, excellent for gift-giving (if you can bear to give it up!)

This book will help you to see that God does still work miracles in the lives of ordinary people who live by faith. It will help you be changed by the power of God. $14.99. 223 pages.

Whether you are young or old, male or female, I recommend this book. It is full of encouraging and true stories of God working in miraculous ways in the lives of people.

Read about how a phone call from a long-lost friend saved a man's life. How a little boy miraculously avoided serious injury after being hit by a car. How couples miraculously found the right child, or children, to fill their empty homes.

Since I have the book to review, I did not use it as a devotional, but read through several of the stories at a time. I found myself moved to tears and encouraged tremendously by these stories. Karen Kingsbury has made her imprint on the Christian fiction market, and if you have never read her fiction books, I very much recommend doing so, but she has taken her God-given talent of relating a story to tug at your heart strings, and used it to relate these true stories. Stories of modern-day miracles that will cause you to dare to hope again if you have quit, and encourage any one who reads it that yes, God does care about us, and He can - and will - perform miracles today.

This is a weekly devotional that I started on the 1st. I've marked it read because it's something that will be finished by the end of the year. I've never read anything by Karen Kingsbury, but this was given to me as a gift from a very special friend. This devotional supposedly contains all true stories about the glory of God and wonderful miracles that He performs every day to ordinary people. The very first story gave me goosebumps so I'm sure the rest will be just as good.

This book will make you believe in miracles. Be to read the contents of the whole book, including the story called, "A Forever Home." That story is about a story about a boy who becomes an orphan after his father killed his mother.

The stories included are really heart touching. Several have brought tears to my eyes. Really enjoying the short stories. so uplifting.

The book is a 52 week devotional if you take time for the additional BIBLE readings, but works great as short daily devotion with story and BIBLE verses.
