So here is the deal with J.P. Beaumont and the ladies:

1. He is going to get with the hottest woman who happens to be much younger than him.
2. How can I put this, he is going to make them cry because of his superior sexuality.
3. They are going to die.

Maybe that is just in the first 2 books, if it is an ongoing theme, then I am about done with Beau. This book reminded me a lot of the previous book. Somebody dies, Beau hooks up with the hottie, then she dies, then somebody else dies and he solves it. I didn't really care about any of the people in the book, but since it is based in Seattle and road trips to Eastern Washington I will give it 2 stars

Can a police detective have any worse luck with the ladies. Every time J. P. Beaumont gets close to a woman she ends up dead.

I think I am done with Jance and her hero in this series, J.P. Beaumont (Beau). I just can't get past his propensity to bed the gorgeous victim/suspect, who is in awe of his sexual prowess and falls madly in love with him in, oh, say, a few hours. Disaster soon follows, of course, and then the story becomes more tolerable. This writer can build a fairly good mystery but her characters could use some work. I'm more a fan of tortured souls looking for redemption and Beau is not that man.

Serviceable 2nd in the J.P. Beaumont series...I've enjoyed the novels from later in the series, so now I'm digging into the ones I've missed...I do enjoy getting the full "background" of characters & situations that are just background filler in the later novels...J.P. is drawn into an investigation, in what seems to be revenge killings, involving the Washington State parole board...decent twists & turns to keep the pages turning

A sad second installment. Plot was flat, generally boring, and frequently off course. Characters are flat, trite, stock--including Beau. And this book must have been the height of hip when it was published because it is horribly dated now--from language to formatting.

One thing I will say is this this book is only Jance's second effort. All the problems I see with it stem from lack of experience. I was enough impressed with the first book to have generated some interest in this series, so I'm hoping Jance will get better with each book. However, if things don't improve significantly, I'm out.

I do like this author's work. I find Beaumont to be pretty intriguing for the most part. He has his flaws which makes him more human and easier to connect with through the books. I like his support cast in the stories. I find the crimes interesting in that they aren't so far fetched and in doing so hold more credibility for the reader. I look forward to reading more in this series.

I found this second book in the series very disappointing. Jance created a character that is not at all believable when it comes to his choices in his personal life. I like the mystery. I like the setting. But I hate the fact that she has included such heavy romance elements and that they are so unflattering and cartoonish.

Apparently Beaumont is such a ladies man that he can get any woman to fall in love with him in a matter of days. And to add to it he is such a tremendous lover that he makes the women cry. He is the best they have ever had -- every time. It reminds me a bit of Lee Child's Jack Reacher. This book would be an easy 3 or 4 stars if the whole fiasco with the woman was removed and more attention was placed on solving the murder.

"Injustice for All" the second book in the J. P. Beaumont series & the second book I've read by J. A. Jance. And, it does help to read these books in order!

While Beaumont is on vacation, he hears a scream and finds a woman standing next to a dead man's body. And, this won't be the only death. Who is the murderer? And, is it political?

Like the first book, I found this book hard to believe. And, I am left with questions that don't seem answered.

I don't plan on reading any more books by Jance.

Beaumont is on leave trying to come to grips with the events in the last novel when he runs into another woman needed to be rescued. It is easy to see these novels are going to follow a formula.
This works for me with these novels sometimes I like to pick up a book and know exactly what I am going to get and that is why I read these novels.

This was the second installment in the J.P. Beaumont series. It was slightly better than the first as there was more of a plot line focused on the cases. However the voice of J.P. is still unrealistically female and yet he has a huge ego. I also still find it annoying that it takes him approximately 10 minutes to fall helplessly head over heels in love with a woman who ends up completely wrecking his world.

Beau meets Ginger on the beach after she finds her friend dead. He tries to comfort her and finds she is the wife of a politician and she tells him she is planning to get a divorce right before the big election. The two hit is off and it turns Beau's world upside down when she leaves for an AA meeting and then never makes it back. Beau thinks there is something fishy about the circumstances and seems to be the only one that doesn't believe her death was an accident. The rest of the book is about him investigating her death off the record and trying to do his job back home in Seattle with a different case.

I do like that she had multiple cases on this one although the one back in Seattle felt unfinished and an after thought. It was more realistic to show that he has more on his plate than just one case but it was introduced so late and was not developed very well. I hope she improves on this in the later books in the series. I am also crossing my fingers that she doesn't keep having Beau fall in love instantaneously with every woman that walks by. Ugh

Two star rating. I'll give books 3 and 4 a try to see if they improve

First of the series I rated a 2.5. This a 2-. Editing was a horror....My kindle version had someone asking about why he was not told about a death, but several chapters earlier had attended the funeral of the person of the person he was asking about....Really? The dialogue is too often bitter between two people who are supposed to be friends. Story(s) are too bound in the unnecessary, like in this one, way bother the with the burn victims, as it added nothing but distraction to the main plot. As the rest of this series, it only happen when I can't find anything else to read...........

I've only read a few of these books in the JP Beaumont series. I like Beau. He is funny. But I didn't realize what a cliche his character is. OMG he always gets the girl with his "aww shucks, ma'am" routine. I sincerely hope there is more to him that what I've seen in these first two books.

I did like the mystery though. And I love the way the author throws in the unexpected twists. It keeps everything far from boring...so 4 stars...barely.

Interesting second book. I started book 3 and the story is pretty intriguing. I suspect these are the authors earlier works.
Being a detective in the 90's or anytime before modern technology and helpful equipment was a bugger! And frustrating as heck for the reader. 😀

Did it keep my interest as a murder mystery? yes. Were there some too convenient devices that had me roll my eyes? Also yes. So Donna, if you are reading this...I see your point about being lazy.
This is the second in the JP Beaumont series set in the Seattle area. Beau has come into ALOT of money and a great lawyer, he uses both to great advantage throughout the story. Beau needs a vacation and is on an island resort off the coast where he becomes embroiled in a murder investigation. Things heat up as the body count increases and he finds himself in the thick of it and not always in the best way. Beau also conveniently has former colleagues all over the state and elicits many favors as he pursues the killer. A quick read for murder mystery lovers.

OK, I'm a little hooked. These books (two so far) w/ their damsel drama and lost love along the way w/ good-buddy bonding AND a good mystery AND a main character you can really LIKE...remind me of Travis McGee and ohhhh did I go through that series w/ great gusto at the time. So, away we go though not one right after the other - need a little break in between these guys but there still so many for me to read (assuming I can get them from the eLibrary or regular library - ha. of course I can!!

This was not one of my favorites. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t really enjoy it either. The “romance” is based on the flimsiest of excuses and the intimate scenes left me wanting to bleach my brain out knowing that my father read this series long before I ever did. Getting the mysteries solved in this book felt a little more like watching the Keystone Cops than what was supposed to be a modern-day police procedural novel. I’m going to continue to trust my father’s good opinion of the series but I’m going to be very wary.

This was just ok for me. A lot of characters betraying one another. You realize he or she is not who they say they are, to the point cynical thoughts play on your mind all the time.
Everything including all the side stories, and even carry over information from the previous book in series gets answered in the end.
As well as you can assume when the guilty aren't talking in this world. Now on to #3, which just so happens to included in this book "Sentence to Die" published with all three in series.

I enjoy these J.A. Jance mysteries because ... (a) they can be read in a couple of afternoons; and (b) they are set against the backdrop of Seattle and Puget Sound. The J.P. Beaumont series is pure cotton candy for the mind, but we all enjoy dessert every now and then.
