From the O'Brien Press City Guides, this book presents the beauty and unique character of Derry, a city that inspires many conflicting images, from the sixth century to the present day, with a guide to the city as it is now.
Alas, I thought I finally found an unbiased account of the history of the city where I could learn without propaganda, but no. Some of the language added to this is pure personal opinion and not a recount of fact, e.g. saying someone said something in a ‘patronising tone’. That is attempting to sway an audience. Disappointing from an author and historian.
Saying that, I still learned a lot about the history and appreciated that the research dates so far back in time.
