California Connection

California Connection 2

Rate this book
Jewel used to be content with being a ride or die chick, playing Bonnie while the men in her life played Clyde. But now she realizes that it was her connections and street smarts that helped her man, Calico, rise to the top, and Jewel wants to be the one in control. She's tired of taking orders from men.

She's willing to do anything to be queen of the streets, but when a deal she makes with the enemy comes back to haunt her, her dream is turned into a nightmare. Hopeless and struggling to keep her head above water, Jewel meets Misty, who seems to be her savior. They quickly form a bond, but when that bond is broken and the mist turns to rain, Jewel finds herself in the middle of a storm that she might not make it out of.

Since the release of her 2004 debut novel A Gangster’s Girl, Essence Magazine best selling author Chunichi Knott has gone on to pen three additional best selling novels, Married To The Game, The Naked Truth and Return of A Gangster’s Girl.
With more than a half of a million books in print and on the heels of her fifth novel, California Connection, Chunichi’s talent as a writer, combined with her consistent and successful track record speaks for itself.
In addition to her hard work and relentless drive, Chunichi’s rise to the top of the literary world can easily be attributed to the fact that she has lived through the same fast lifestyle of sex, money, drugs, cars, and designer clothes, that she writes about in her books.
The former quiet southern girl from Alabama had her life transformed when she moved to Virginia Beach in her late teens. Dubbed the Urban Diva of literature because of her striking beauty, Chunichi’s stunning looks and Scorpio sex appeal was evident since her teenage years. And she instantly became a magnet for attracting ballers who elevated her social status while introducing her to an intoxicating high-end lifestyle.
That lifestyle transformed the sexy seductress into a gun toting Bonnie who was trained to fire. Chunichi’s fast paced lifestyle soon began to mimic that of a vixen and it included stints as a highly sought after local celebrity as well as her being the spoiled female darling of several NBA and NFL athletes.
Consequently as Chunichi matured, she decided to make a change in the way she was living. Never forgetting her past but making sure to leave the fast life behind, Chunichi went on to pursue and attain her degree in Nursing, while simultaneously putting her real life experiences on paper.
Now a reserved, mysterious beauty, the Urban Diva moves like anthrax, killing the literary scene with books that are sure to keep her on top of the major best seller’s list for years to come.

I really don’t know how to explain what and why I’m reading these. Just to keep a good mix I guess. Its actually decent though. The first issue I have is with Jewel because why? Why would you just jump in and be cool with Misty. You’ve only known her from one encounter. Touch is really in his feelings now. Sasha is just dirty straight up. She loves and is is loyal to no one. She is that one girl that pretends to be everyone’s friend but secretly is jealous of them all. What happens to her and her son isn’t cool though, well mostly her son. I’m not sure if any of the characters have redeeming qualities after this. Calico, Diablo, poopoo, Murdock all are caught up in lies and not thinking straight. Jewel makes some strange decisions and Touch makes stranger decisions. It’s a cool little saga just something to really breeze through. The writing is decent and pretty vivid. On to book three to see what happens.

Whew child this is a lot to digest. First of all niggas ego is too big that it becomes their enemy how you gonna love somebody so much and just left them because you feel you where betrayed, I don't understand how jewel fell in love with touch seeing and knowing his pattern with baby mother's drama constantly, Sasha is a fool she keeps using feelings as a reason to make bad decisios thinking it won't catch up with her. I don't understand why jewel didn't think she was get pregnant after allowing touch to have unprotected sex with her.
All in all it's just the toxic hood love story. I have to say I like the second book a bit better than the first.

I wished these stories were longer because I'm devouring them like there's no tomorrow. No one is safe in these streets. Everyone is so set on being the top player in the game that they fail to see the devil in disguise and it's taking them out one by one. I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens next. The cliffhanger ending in this book definitely leaves readers wanting more.

Touch Is Suck A Fuck Boy. But I Knew Misty Was A Cop The Moment She Was Allowing Jewel To Go See Touch (When I Know They Shoulda Been Locked Up)And Being So Helpful. That Bitch Sasha Got What She Deserved Making All These Damn Problems Because She She Ain’t Have Shit And Hating On Jewel. I Did Feel Bad About Her Son Tho That Was Fucked Up.

I'd read this series a while back & just as I had then I still question whether or not California Connection needed two extra installments.
I couldn't relate to any of the characters in the first installment. I thought Jewel's platonic friendship with her male best friend who's name I can't remember was cool, but IT TURNED INTO SOMETHING THAT I WASN'T ANTICIPATING TOWARDS THE END.

Ooowee this was just as good and trifling as the first book. Everybody is so extra grimy that I couldn't really root for anyone to succeed. I was just a fly on the wall spectating all the drama and watching who fell. Definitely worth the time.

I read the first one. I just hated that it took so long for part 2 to come out because I had to go back to the first one to review what was going on thats how long it was since I read the first one.

I say it was just ok. All the action action didn't start happening until way way at the end and from how it ended it looks like a part 3 just may pop up what probably a year from now also.

Chunichi is a good author I liked all the Gangsta books but, this one ummmm.

Well it's a contining to Jewel, Touch and Sasha.

The first one leaves us thinking that Jewel was shoot by Sasha.

Well the second one starts you off with what else was going on before the New Years party.

So then Calico having beef with Touch and want him dead. Poppo having beef with Calico and want him dead so he can take over Calico's business and be the man.

Sasha wants everything that Jewel have even Touch and if she can't have him she trys her best to find someone to take him out.

Sasha up to her old tricks as always. Dogging everyone and having everyone looking to dead her.

Jewel becomes friends with a nurse name Misty that have other plans up her sleeves.

So it was a ok read not all exciting and full of drama. All the drama happens way at the end and it looks like it was rushed just to get the book over with.
But, I wont lie if there is a part 3 I will surely read it.

Well after reading book 1 I said I wanted more so I got more in book 2. In book 1 she met Calico and was his ride or die. Some circumstances brought them to a dead end and added fuel to a already burning fire.
Jewel and her best friend Sasha relationship is tested. You'll find out if their friendship will stand the test of time through situations that include greed, jealousy and men.
All I have to say is everything that glitters is not gold. Including friendships. No new friends. LOL.

3.5 - pretty good sequel to California Connection. There were a few minor complaints I had but all were fairly minor and I easily got past them. Chunichi did a good job - as expected. Not sure if there will be a third from the ending - could go either way.

This was a quick read. I thought this book was good and very interesting. I think the first book was better, but this was a pretty good sequel. I'm looking forward to reading the third installment of the series.

Touch & Jewel are flossing with money. They are described as "doing it big". Yet when they break up, Touch says he's broke & Jewel can't pay her bills. Sasha is still envious of who and what she thinks Jewel is or has. Calico gets arrested again while using a fake id. Touch's over reaction to Papo saying "ask your bitch what's up" was ridiculous. Jewel is duped by an overly friendly woman that is obvious to everyone is not on the up & up. Jewel the woman who games men and women has been gamed in books 1 & 2, but people who are not street smart either. The characters come across as "playing" at being in the "game". This story should have been a stand alone with fleshed out characters and real movement. I'm going to listen to book 3 to see how this wraps up, but that's the OCD in me that has to know how things end. It is not because I am invested in any of the unstable characters in this unconvincing story.
