Through hypnosis, a Chicago actor travels thirty years back in time to war-torn Berlin, where, in an act of incredible betrayal, his mother was gunned down by a killer whose identity is only just beginning to emerge. Reprint.

As much as I crave WWII genre works, this 30-year-old novel isn't as satisfying as many others based on that era. The whole hypnotism setting for the story just drags the reader oh so s=l-o-w-l-y into the action in 1945 Berlin. You'll have to fight your way through the first 70 pages or so. On the plus side, author R.D. Zimmerman's characters are people you'll find yourself rooting for.
This is a very gripping, but graphic book, which isn't surprising, since much of the action is taking place in war-torn Berlin. I found myself totally immersed in the story, finding it very hard to put down. There were many little twists and turns along the way, which kept me guessing, and some of the time I did guess correctly.
I felt quite churned up at the end, after experiencing what the main character and his family and friends went through. I felt I was right there with them all the way, which proves what a talented author R.D. Zimmerman is.
I don't remember a lot about this book since I read it way back in 1993, but I am looking forward to reading it again as I remember enjoying it greatly. I already bought it for kindle from Amazon.com and will probably read for a second time soon.
