For nearly 50 years, Douglas M. Rife has been developing products for classroom teachers and school administrators as a publisher at several different publishing houses. Although his career includes producing materials for all curriculum areas and professional development for educators, his personal passion is American history. This passion has led him to republish out of print local histories, volunteer as a docent at local historic sites, and to assist in drafting legislation to protect cemeteries in his home state.
He blogs about cemeteries at gravelyspeaking.com. Rife has written more than 25 books for teachers who teach American and family history. Rife holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history from Iowa State University. Currently, Rife is the Publisher and President of Solution Tree International where he lives in Bloomington, Indiana.
Some of his favorite reads are Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, The Tender Bar by J. R. Moehringer, Brunelleschi's Dome by Ross King, and The Prayer for Own Meany by John Irving.
