I am JOHN MARTIN, Author of this book and you can now buy a brand new copy of my book that is a First Edition, Signed personally by me and featuring the first ever interview with Heydrich's son plus lots of new information. My book also features a guide to finding the places connected to the story in Prague of Operation Anthropoid.
This book is heartily recommended for all levels of interest . John Martin is not a professional historian, yet has studied Operation Anthropoid for decades . There's a clear account of the mission undertaken by Czech commandos Jan Kubis and josef Gabick to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich in Prague on 27th May 1942, the supreme commander of Nazi security forces in Bohemia and Moravia. The author has travelled extensively in the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, and Britain. He got to know Lorna Eilison who was friendly when she was a teenager with Gabick and Kubis when they were in exile in Britain, includes an interview with her in the book. John Martin also managed to secure an extremely rare interview with Heydrich's son Heider- also featured. And has gone to the National Archives at Kew to see how the British authorities and the Czech government in exile were involved in the mission, unearthing some interesting source material. Finally, there is a useful chapter on visiting sites within the Czech Republic and elsewhere with connections to 'Anthropoid' Ultimately the book seems glossy with plenty of photos and illustrations, But contains precious material not found elsewhere such as the aforementioned interviews . The book identifies many of the key issues and ethical dilemmas , the most obvious being was the death of Heydrich worth the reprisals, but doesn't offer dogmatic answers. And the author's enthusiasm for the subject starts to inspire the reader.
