Henri Benoit Blanchard is a genius, a multi-millionaire, an international philanthropist - and someone wants him dead. Someone with powers, someone with an axe to grind. When that axe falls in an assassination attempt in New York City, Henri's friend the president decides there's only one person who can protect Sienna Nealon.
But Sienna's got her own problems. Her wayward cousin Alannah has just been arrested for the dozenth time, and the last thing Sienna needs is a rich guy to babysit along with her troublesome relation. What's a hero to do?
Bring that cousin along, of course. Because when the president calls, you can't exactly send it to voicemail.
From New York City to London to Paris to Germany, Sienna and Alannah are matched against a relentless assassin who wants Blanchard dead and will stop at nothing to see it done. But why? A powerful secret stands between Sienna and the truth, one she'll have to unearth if she wants to save Blanchard...
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
Ok, so this was good, and I love Alannah, but there was way too much political stuff about solving all of the world’s problems, which is literally what I read to escape from, so I got bored of those bits. 3.5/5
There's a lot of conversation to unpack with this one. And I've got to admit, some of it is too deep and meaningful for me, though it plays heavily into the plot.
One confession though: I'm really really not a fan of the young sidekick (no spoilers).
I feel like we're winding up for something big....
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
We interrupt this pending doom with imminent doom.
While the mystery of the missing friends has me on the edge of my seat, Allegiance takes us on a european “vacation” detour. It looks like Sienna is going to finally catch a break with a lucrative special request assignment from none other than the President of the United States. An assignment with at least one string attached that takes the form of an over the top, seriously inappropriate, but absolutely hilarious relative who trash talks her way across the continent. It’s like my daddy always says, you can take a fish out of water, but it’s going to talk smack and strangle someone with a ficus. Or something to that effect.
The villainous scheme in this book is seriously ambitious and went beyond what I expected at this point in the arc for a seemingly relatively stand alone storyline. Nice hints dropped throughout with contacts (and possibly new allies) made that could come into play moving forward. On pins and needles waiting to see where the long game is going and who will be left in the end.
Another gripping girl in the box book. Fresh as book one but also carrying so much depth and baggage of her life. Love her new intern ( hope she lasts !) Can't wait for the next book in this brilliant series
As the China threat becomes more clear, Sienna tries to focus and gets a bit... waylaid instead. Sienna has a lot of uncomfortable conversations in this one. In some of those conversations, I could see both sides and didn't inherently disagree with Sienna but... wow, the thoughts provoked and the real-world scenarios were uncomfortable at times. I was truly impressed with Sienna's ability to have a discourse without rising to anger. Especially with her mouthy cousin. Alannah is mouthy; she's brash, angry, and out of control. She is a mini Sienna in so many ways and it's hilarious (to me) to see Sienna trying to talk sense into her, repeatedly. There are a few familiar faces in this story, one "elite" who really shocked me (I'm still excited about the last scene with them), and one "elite" who didn't surprise me per se but sure did give Sienna some things to chew on, and of course there's a villain or two! I am seriously invested in the China arc. I can't wait to see where it takes Sienna and us. Fantastic.
Got a problem with Meta Human trying to kill you? Who you going to call? This made me think of Bill Murray (Ghostbusters). Of course not. You call Sienna who at the time is dealing with a foul-mouthed young cousin trying to keep her out of jail. Sienna receives a call she can’t ignore – from the President of the United States which starts the ball going. Sienna has to drag her ungrateful cousin along because she doesn’t trust her relative to stay out of trouble. As the tale unfolds the cousins follow the multi-billionaire to his castle where the fun really unfolds as they find out who the bad guys actually are. In true Robert J. Crane style, the twists and turns keep on coming. Unexpected help comes from underneath the fortress (making me think of the new Antman movie). We also learn more from teasers we the readers enjoy of more about Sienna’s mysterious missing husband. Another 5 star epic worth your time.
I’ve read this whole series, and I had enjoyed it, BUT I hate it when Crane gets philosophical, because I can’t have a discussion. Public education is going down the drain because local people want their prejudices reflected in their schools. Human rights should not be determined by local opinions. We are in the middle of an extinction event. 2/3 if our insects are gone. We are getting choked out by fires here in the Southwest. The water situation is scary—and yet, environmental matters are minimized to the author. Libertarianism doesn’t work when the powerful reach down to the school board level. There’s a certain amt of danger in Mr Crane’s opinions, too.
Had to really think about the rating for this book … not your normal Sienna Nealon read … less action, one storyline, still another good read! Robert J Crane seems to have decided to delve into the political … foreign & domestic … quagmire with this tale! So very many quotable messages & warnings throughout the book … For myself, I thoroughly enjoyed this change of pace for Sienna & applaud the author’s stance on the subjects therein … also getting a kick out of smug ‘villains’ thinking they can outwit/outthink Miss Nealon! Don’t get me started on the enjoyable, crude, crass lil cousin … she’s a fun character!! On to the last of the series … seriously have no clue where the Author will take me & Sienna !!
Starting To Get Long In The Tooth…But Still A Pretty Great Story
You do not read over 50 books in a series if you do not really love the characters. In that regard, the book does not disappoint. Crane always offers food for thought on the state of the world and I enjoy how these thoughts feed into the narrative. However, the lectures are starting to overshadow the plots.
It would really be more pleasing to the fans to continue using the politics as a point of plot development, not as its own character. For that, he should just write a nonfiction political book. His observations are valid enough that I would read that too.
Sienna at her finest! After the last instalment (book 52) which ran at a slower pace, this one sure packs a punch - intellectually and action-wise. The villain in this one sees himself as intellectually superior than others which leads to a lot of interesting conversations between him and Sienna - definitely a notch up from the last book. Alannah teams up with Sienna and we see her character develop - many similarities to a younger Sienna - which makes for a wealth of profanities. These two strong characters lead the action well.
I was totally expecting this to be the last girl in the box book I'd read. Come on, it's book 53. How can Robert J Crane still keep my attention! But he has. Fast paced, took me 3 days to finish. Not that it's a short book, but because I found it hard to put down. And a big yes I'll be pre ordering book 54, because this one was totally kittens. That's even without a Guy Friday sighting all through this installment.
Waiting with baited breath for the next Sienna outing.
I love Robert Crane's unstoppable imagination. It's amazing to me how I have read 53 books with absolutely stellar writing. I have been flipping page after page and have yet to be disappointed. I am a huge fan and would love to recommend this series. Unless you loathe fantasy, I believe you will love the series. Robert J. Crane, thank you!
Since Sienna came to inception she’s just gotten better.
Another nail in the China coffin. The conflict is coming to head. Yet domestic problems are still happening. If you’re reading this you know Siennas story and this chapter is great she’s sober. Everyone’s not hating on her and she sense the danger approaching. Gathering her forces plus the new relative addition. Can’t wait for this battle to finally come to head
I can’t get enough of these books! I’m a huge Nealon fan and really enjoyed the plot of this book. The characters were all great. I’m glad RC added Alannah to the character mix. I was laughing out loud several times throughout the book. So funny. Also, the President…wish we had a president like that right about now. Anyways. Loved it and can’t wait for the next book!
I usually read several books at the same time, reading a few chapters in one book and going to another book, but I picked up this one and I could not put it down. Robert J.Crane has outdone himself. I love Sienna and all the other characters. As I stated in the title, this is book 53. You should read them all. They are intense, thought provoking, and a nonstop ride.
Sienna at her debating and deadly best. Love Alannah, really glad she's joining the team...how will they cope with her lol. Thank you Mr Crane, because I just love falling back into Sienna's world, the team, the family, the references to past books and catching up with characters like Greg and Mr Bond. Loved it!
I can’t tell a lie the day my new girl in the box book drops into my kindle is always a great day and this book is no exception. Always keeps me engaged and wanting more, I have never read a series which has captured me like this one. You’d be a fool not to read it!
Robert J Crane has out done himself with Allegiance. After 53 books about the same core group of characters, it's hard to keep anyone but die-hard, guilty pleasure fans reading. At times the series was becoming stale. Not so with Allegiance. This is one of the most fast paced, exicieting books of the entire series! Wow!
Powerful as usual. Sienna her normal caring, majestic self. Wins the day against those who would rule the world. Sienna is all and everything, but wait, is that little cuz Allanha in the background there? Moving forward to help Sienna when she most needs it? Read and discover for yourselves the truth.
Very good, particularly how the book’s base premise pertains to NOW!!! If only there were some with the book’s characters abilities in the real world...on the side of good!!!
Another page turner that keeps you thinking. With action and thought Provoking content. This book like the rest are too hard to put down. The only downside is ha ing to wait for the next installment.
I love how the new characters mesh with ones we’ve seen before. Big things are starting to happen, setting up for the next adventure. I can’t wait for the next installment.
So many good highlights!!! Utopia awaits if only the right person can be saved! Teenage rebellion puts our around in a huge Celina and the smartie pants teen sure can stir the pot!!!
Yes, I love this series! Yes, I have read them all. This one was right on time because fictionally and for real, China is a bad country, and we are in for a war with China and Sienna is going to war as well it seems!
Overall I liked the book. But that being said... I feel Mr Crane is pushing his political views in the last few books. Most of us read to get away from these things. I still love Sienna and I am liking her cousin a lot too.
After Reality, I was expecting this book to move forward with the progress Sienna made at the end, but this book was as if that had never happened. At least she did not backslide.
WOW! I know I say that a lot but wow I can't help it, it just seems the Sienna Nealon saga gets better and better every time I pick up a new book. This is the way Justice should really be handled.
