Really 3.5 stars
Not a bad story, the baddies pretending to be the goodies send an innocent to spy on one of the real goodies, but also with poisoned blood. As the real goodie is a vamp ... you can see where this is going. Add in a magical half-fey Knight of the Light and a hot time is had by all.

This was my 2nd Bianca D'Arc book, the first being the 1st book of this series, Lords of the Were. I have struggled with both of these books, but I can't put my fingers on what it is that doesn't appeal to me. I've read books with just as much sex that I enjoy, so it's not that there is too much sex. The plot sounds like it would be interesting. I don't dislike any of the characters. I've concluded that D'Arc may just not be my cuppa. I may try another series of hers before giving up completely.

I'm conflicted about this book. I was surprised by the positive reviews. However, don't misunderstand me about that, I do like the book. However, the continuity and details made it very hard for me to give this a good rating. Fey have long life expectancy from what the first book states. Sorry for the spoiler, but I'm stating this because it IS in the first book. Betina is proof of that. Although, I think because she is High Priestess and Fey, it makes her life expectancy a tad longer. But Duncan is also half Fey, and he has a long life too. Then there is the fact of what Megan is. I won't spoil it, but the fact it is stated she is mortal: makes no sense! She should be just as supernatural as the next. She is what she is: mixed, but that doesn't make her any less supernatural.
Aside from that, I sort of like Dante. I was more into Duncan in this one. From what I could tell his character takes the magic aspect like Allie and Betina did. My other issue is Duncan not using flashing them to safety. Uh, what happened to that ability? Did he lose that yet still conjures up glowing swords? And the bit about using something as means to get rid of poison? Why is it in the first book, this was not used? Silver is just as much a poison to vampires and weres and there was no need for what Duncan says helps rid poison from their body. It was inconsistent to the first book. Or maybe just an excuse to have multiple partners, but still make this a book on a couple. I'm going to say yes it was used just for that. Which is just plain horrible to use Duncan in this sense. He was imprisoned and released in the previous book by Allie...yet he is used in this one. Kinda horrible that he couldn't find happiness in this book especially considering a detail that is found out about a character. I just think he got short changed BIG TIME. Then again he deserves better.
Megan. What to say about her. I liked her, but I didn't love her like I adored Allie. She is constantly back and forth with feelings. Let me emphasize. She makes it very clear she feels something for Dante at some point. Won't say when. But right away you can tell B. D'arc is making this only about two of the characters and not a trio. However, she does throw in the sharing aspect quite a bit. At which point pisses me off at times. Inner voices are basically laying down just who that couple should be. Yet, you wonder about the one character who saves them continuously. I just don't understand why this couldn't have included Duncan also. Given how close Dante and Duncan are. And don't get me wrong I get being a good friend, but that? Yeah, that was taking the friendship to an entirely different level. Sure they were mature about it, but it squeaked me out more than the twin brothers in the first book. I got that, and even excepted it. This? I don't know, unless at some point she plans to make books about what Duncan's character actually is. It's stated in the first book that he is a Knight and half Fey. So maybe a bunch of Knights and half Fey or Knights and Fey get there own set of books aside from this series? Because it seems to me we won't see Duncan getting his own book anytime soon. So yeah, he was written in a way that he was used big time. Aggravated me. Probably why it's taking me so long to read this. It's losing my interest. And probably because I saw better chemistry when all three were together, but hey, just my opinion, I guess.
I didn't find this book as hot as the first and I'm not a big fan of twins with the same woman.
But I'm not finished and pushing through this book even though I'm not as immersed as I was with the first. So I will update.

The inconsistencies are a big problem for me. Another is the very fact she discusses not using the backdoor during sex...yet she has done this. It's like the act is happening for the very first time at every sexual interaction they have. It's highly annoying. I'm surprised no one noticed this at all. Another spoiler from the last book. Don't read this unless you've read the first. But my issue is that there is so much emphasis on the fact Dante got rid of a character that is of importance to a family in this one, yet he aided. It was Allie the Priestess who banished that character whom Dante is being blamed for. That was a very big pet peeve how that wasn't argued with the bad villains of the story. They knew what Patrick was up to, yet they don't follow through and assume it's Dante? Dante helped, along with Duncan, but it was ultimately Allie who banished this Patrick. This character is the reason behind a revenge vendetta against Dante. I understand why they think it's him...BUT they are so wrong. And why when it does get pointed out it wasn't him, it's brushed off. I get the reasons for going after Dante, because I won't say that spoiler, but seriously they needed to go to the source too. (maybe this will come up in later books, I hope?)
Too many things just weren't consistent with the truth of the first book. I had a very hard time with a certain joining too. There was nothing spectacular about it. Just words spoken of We are one. Yet, Dante shares a bond with Tim from the first book and even more so with Duncan from the first book and even this book. I'm going to spoil this right now so read at your own discretion: But given there was sex between Duncan, Megan, and Dante at one point. To control Dante's urge to feed he bit Duncan. Um, I've read quite a few vampire bonding books, but this was very very weak. It would mean that Dante bonded with anyone he slept with. This one business was, too me, a cop out. Automatically joining them. I didn't find it romantic at all. I found it too convenient so that it was just the two. As I'm sure it was intended to begin with. I really wished I did find it romantic and a great joining, but I didn't. But this book wasn't anywhere in the same caliber as the first of this series. That joining between Tim/Allie/Rafe was believable. I kinda want to grab Duncan out of this book and give him something 100 times better than these two. D'arc definitely throws him to the side, but loves to tell you the reader that he's okay with it. I wouldn't have been. I still have an issue that she changed how magic users rid poison. It just didn't fit. I still believe it was to add the spice of multiple partners. Because come on! How the heck can a poisoned nearly dying vamp manage to have sex???? Yeah I'm not going to totally spill on that scene, but seriously? It makes you wonder how this technique of ridding poison wasn't used in Lord's of the Were when Duncan shows up. I'm just stumped how details can change so quickly from each book. Yes, I'm into details and certain details done jive with the first book.
Final Update:
I'm hoping this isn't the case with the rest of the Were series because I totally loved the first book! And now finishing this story...finally, I'm still very much conflicted. A lot didn't add up to the previous book. I wonder how the ending will come about if we don't see much of a certain character being tagged by a certain familiar. The joining between these two Dante and Megan, was kinda cheesy and way too romanticized to be believable at times. And I'm still smarting about the fact that she needs to be something else. She is part something, part were, and part human. She should have long life expectancy, yet I think we are to assume she doesn't, which negates what we read in the first book. I just don't get that. Some things with these details just boggled my mind. I'm sorry I tried to like this story. A lot of it was telling with some bits of it showing then right back to telling. I don't know some things were contradicting the first story and then this one takes on a new leaf, so to speak. I get making two characters the be all, but it was overly done. Kinda like without you, we are so dead, it's up to these two. Yet, when it was done for the Lords of the Were, it was tastefully done. It worked. For these two it was pushed and pushed. You find yourself really pulling for another trio to come together, but it's NOT going to happen. Yet, he does MORE heroic and amazing things during this entire book, and he amazed me the most aside from some special characters that came on the scene! I was not connecting well with Megan or Dante in this story. I swear even with the first part of the book, I wanted Duncan to find his happiness. And, at this point, I don't think we will see it any time soon. Unless of course it's thrown in there in later stories just to conclude his part in all of this. Rather sad, because I connected so much to him in the first book and this book.
No doubt most won't agree with me, but the details killed me. Given the fact that I'm into details, this was disappointing because I do like Bianca's work. I hope to enjoy the rest of the series. I recommend read if you aren't a detail wolf like me (lol), but I am not like the others with their praise for this book. I failed to review the last book, because I wanted to read this one. And I don't review every book either. This one I had to say something. I was really into Dante in the first book. This one he literally died in my eyes. No connection. So yeah, disappointment. I hope Rocky is better!

Oh my did this one hit the spot. The intrigue and mystery built around the characters is AMAZING! I actually can say my favorite quote is:
"The Lady knows what She is doing. Her ways are mysterious, but She never gives anyone more than they can handle. Those with the purest hearts sometimes suffer the most on their journeys. You, Dante, have been proven a man of honor time and time again though you suffered greatly. Perhaps this is your reward."
That statement made by Duncan, a fey Knight, is so powerful, is so true... it sums the book up. There is reward if the light is still within you.
I've really started to like Dante, the first book made me want to slap his ego around, but now that Megan is in the story it's changing quickly. And Duncan! OH MY GOD! I'm still slapping myself that I've not read this series before.

Another winner by Ms. D'Arc. Again we are entertained by a vampire, a were and fey. And I loved them all. There is intensity, determination, love and let's not forget those hot and steamy menage a trois...wow. I liked book one and liked this one even better. Highly recommend.

She locked eyes with him, so damn sexy. His friend was something she couldn't identify, odd. Will spying on this man be the right move? This was to be her last mission for her keeper. She must go through this.

I don't quite know how long I've had this book, but, I'm devastated by how long it has dat here in my kindle without reading it! What a gen to find!!!

(Explícito). Maravilloso. Mucho mejor,que el libro anterior. Está mucho más completo. Tiene un final abierto y todavía no se resolvieron algunas preguntas pero está fabuloso. Dante y Megan sabiendo que posiblemente lo de ellos nunca podría funcionar siguieron intentando relacionarse; también de que ellos nunca se dejaron llevar al lado oscuro y permanecieron fieles a quienes eran, a su alma, que al final hizo que se quedaran en el lado bueno. Muy recomendable y lo volvería a leer.

May 17, 2020Picked this up randomly, however I haven't read the first book in this series and I did feel like I was missing backstory. I also wasn't a fan of the relationship development, the world-building, or the writing style. DNF for me.

Love the book in this continuing saga. It is so interesting cracking these books open and meeting new characters and then old friends show up.
It is excellent writing, love this author.
I have been a fan for a lot of years, she just gets better all the time.

A Vampire's only ONE!
Dante d'Angleterre is everything Vampire but he is also so much more. Dante has lived a long time and he is not one to forgive and forget especially those who have wronged the people closest to him. After recently helping the two Alpha Were's and their mate the High Priestess defeat an evil Mage who was trying to kill them Dante has returned home bringing with him an old friend and ally Duncan a extremely powerful half fey and a Fey not to be messed with.
Megan has only one task left and her ancestors will be able to move on and she will finally be free of the debt owed by her family. Ostracised from all Were society after bad information and bad decisions from her ancestors had led them to make a heinous mistake that could never fully be recompensed. What Megan didn't realise was that she had been bespelled poisoning her blood so if Dante was to taste it he would surely die. When Dante and Duncan enter the club Dante is instantly drawn to Megan and it's not long before they are leaving together. Sometimes though things are not quite what they seem, Duncan quickly senses that something is not quite right with Megan but not before near disaster strikes. Duncan, Dante and Megan will have to find a way to discover who has bespelled Megan and break the curse as well as find and destroy those who wish to see Dante dead. It will take all of their strengths and a realisation of the role each of them have to play in the prophecies if they are to end this and survive.
I enjoyed reading Inferno and found myself enthralled in the story, not being able to put it down until the very end.

This is the 2nd book in the WereLords series. I really enjoyed the first book where we also met Dante and Duncan for the first time. Dante is the ultimate sexy good guy. Megan is a part werewolf trying to "work off" an old family blood debt to clear her family's name and bring honor back to them, but got tricked in to giving her allegiance to the wrong people. They in turn force her to do many questionable things. Her supposed final task is to spy on Dante and find out what happened to a dark mage (enemy from the 1st book) and report back. She and Dante fall in love and he and his good friend Duncan basically have to help undo the spells and compulsions that were put on her by the enemies, in order for them to move forward in their new relationship. They also have to continue fighting against some ancient dark enemies that are striving to return to this world and take over. All this while trying to figure out how the dynamics of their relationship will work, as in the past it's been forbidden...a Vampire mating with someone of "her" origins (can't spoil it by saying what they discover she is!!). That's just a basic overview. Lots of discoveries and fun details....read it~~
I really appreciate when an author can bring two people together in a story early on and work out their "secrets" and "misunderstandings" right off the bat so they can continue as a team and fight the bad guys. It saves so much angst in the whole process. Readers don't always like to read the whole story of two peoples' suffering so they can get together in the last 5 pages of the book. This book was fantastic! Dante and Megan were a perfect match. Both strong and independent while each equally able to trust and submit to the other. Great fight scenes, as well as love scenes! Powerful and realistic. Loved it!!

I really like this series even if it does seem that it branches off into so many different directions that I cannot be sure if I will get the whole story. You are pulled right into the story having met the main players in a previous book and this just makes want to get more of what is happening. The characters are established and have the feel of friends or acquaintances that you have met and and like. Everything moves toward a conclusion that you know is inevitable but cannot necessarily see how it is to be accomplished.
Megan is given the assignment of spying on Dante for the Altor Custodis in order to finally pay off her families debt of honor, this includes finding out what Dante knows about the disappearance of Patrick Vabian, the mage who tried to use him. Dante is a vampire who has a pact with the current Lords of the Were to help fight against the Venifucus should the need arise. Duncan, an old friend of Dante's and a fey warrior/knight is staying with him to make sure that he is not turned to the dark side.
Megan is a lone wolf with something unknown thrown in and may be working for the wrong side but has found that though she has never cared about vampires one way or the other, this one affects her in all the right ways. The Venifucus want to use Dante for their own ends, but he is stronger than they have anticipated. And they have just given him more reason to fight on the side good and right.
I liked the fact that it didn't take forever for them to ferret out secrets or anything. They got that over with and then we could deal with the meat of the story. The chemistry between Megan and Dante is explosive. But be warned that this book contains a menage a trois and quatre, a seriously hot vampire, a hot fey warrior and a lone wolf who throws inhibitions to the wind. Highly recommend this series!

This book comes after Lords of the Were and is Dante's story. It is helpful to read that one first because some of the characters are in this one, but it is not imperative. These two books are also related to Sweeter than Wine and the Brotherhood of Blood Trilogy. She seems to list them like Lora Leigh does her Breed books, they are related but she lists them separately. Maybe because it is not imperative that you read them in order outside of their own series. Anyway, very good story.
It starts off with Megan getting her final orders before her family debt of honor is paid. She is to spy on a vampire named Dante and report back on his movements. As soon as she meets him there is an instant attraction. Which works in her favor in getting close to watch him. He figures she is up to something so keeps her close until he can figure out what she is up to. As they spend time together he sees that her heart is good and hopes that he can trust her but then they find out the hard way that her blood has been poisoned to vampires and that Dante is not going to let her go easily. And Dante's recent past comes back to haunt him with his dealings with Patrick Vabian.
Great storyline. It moved the series storyline along but I do not think it would be that hard to follow if you have not read the other books. The story kept me very engaged and the love scenes were hot (as always :). Like Sweeter Than Wine, there are some menage scenes, but it is still an MF story.

2nd book in the series; main couple is Dante (bloodletter aka vampire) and Megan (half-were wolf and a human plus surprise mix).
With things put in motion and the Vanifucus whatever is still around the good guys must band together to get ready for the big fight. Main bad guys are the vanifucus leader poferov and Siobhan (patrick the mage sister).
Quick recap Poferov sends Megan to spy on Dante. Siobhan attacks injures Dante and Megan takes the hit that would have killed him. While injured Dante and Duncan discover the Ven mark on Megan and discovers she is working for the bad guys. A wild adventure ensues with Siobhan tring to kill them and the trio trying to find Megan's keeper.
Hott sex scenes. A foursome, threesome, and ends with single coupling. Megan may be part were but she normal doesn't partake in multiple partners untill she has to save the bloodletter she poisoned. The little wolf goes through many experiences in this book and meets many interesting characters.
Overall I liked it a lot. I am a little disappointed about Ducan but I hope he finds the perfect one for him.

Somewhat disappointing at the start when I learned that this really wasn't a continuation of the story of Tim, Rafe, and Allie. I really wanted to learn more about those characters, but was comforted by thought of at least in this book I will learn more about Dante. He was just barely introduced in the previous story, but he definitely seemed like a character that could handle his own book. I was also pleased to see that Duncan was in this one as well with a much larger role to fill than in the previous one. The plot is a continuation of the previous, but we are just more focused on a few familiar characters and a cast of new ones. Although this book was longer than the last one, it was still too short for me. I would have liked it more if the author would have allowed us to explore more of Megan's unique DNA and how that will help Dante and the overall crisis in the story. Although the series, so far, has a good storyline going, there just isn't enough pages to hold it all. Just when you start to really get into the story it ends all too soon.

Hot, hot, hot. Megan is such a luck girl, she gets to make out with two hot men, a fey knight of goodness and her vampire one and only. Not only that, she also gets to make out with three hot men while her one and only watches. Talk about the kink factor. Very nicely done, and the thing is, it doesn't seem forced, but part of the plot and part of her character. So yes, I enjoyed this book :)
Re-read - 29/09/2015. I must say I enjoyed the book the second time around too. Megan is interesting in the way she goes from being a spy, to siding with Duncan and Dante.
The plot is interesting too. Pity the language doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Too much repetition of information. We aren't morons.

the shape shifter stories and bloodletter stories begin to tie into each other through their common enemy the venefucus. this is one of the best stories yet. enjoyed the complex characters and equally complex plot. lots of surprises for everyone. a vampire becomes a knight of the light! And his turned vampire mate becomes a day walker! the love story is good. lots of sex and several menage scenes needed to work magic. can't wait until the next one...maybe in the fall of 2014 I hope. Re-read in march, 2017. Still an absorbing tale. Last read march, 2017. Re-read in June 2019. Enjoyed again.

i wonder if that is really the end of the series though the vampire bit overlaps quite a lot with the brotherhood of blood series i definitely would like to have Duncan's story to read too! but this one is hot for sure and a love story with interesting twists and turns to be sure. Another Great D'arc Classic!
