The Acts of the Apostles is the fourth volume of Ellen G. White's Conflict of the Ages series. It relates and expounds upon the life of the apostles following the resurrection of Jesus. "Peter, Paul, James, John, Luke, Barnabas, Stephen, Mark, and the other early apostles carried the wonderful news of the gospel to all of the then-known world." The faithful inspiration and Biblical history keeps the reader turning the pages as they learn of the lives and the mission of the apostles.

Upon the ascension of Jesus Christ, the focus of sacred history turned to the men he entrusted with spreading the message of the Kingdom of God to Jew and Gentile across the world. The Acts of the Apostles the penultimate volume of Ellen G. White’s Conflict of the Ages series in which the rest of the New Testament through the lives of the Apostles in how they were transformed into preachers and leaders of the new church and how they spread the World, upheld faith, and corrected error. In a little over 600 pages, the events in the book of Acts and the circumstances surrounding the writing of the Epistles and the book of Revelation are revealed in the context of sacred history.

The Acts of the Apostles presents the events of the book of Acts in an in-depth in how the Disciples of Christ became Apostles for truth and how Saul the persecutor became Paul the Apostle. As in in the Bible, the focus for much of the book is on the conversion of Paul and his ministry to both Jews and Gentiles on various missionary trips. At the beginning, the Church focused on presenting the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus to the Jewish community as the fulfillment of Messianic prophecy until the stoning of Stephen and shift to the Gentiles through the Holy Spirit and total rejection of the Jewish leadership. Throughout the discussion on Paul’s ministry to Jew and Gentile alike, the events surrounding and leading to his writing the Epistles that are contained in the New Testament are examined and the principles and lesson within them expounded upon. After Paul’s death, the lives of Peter and John are examined to enlighten the reasons surrounding and the lessons taught in their own Epistles to the church. And John’s time on Patmos in which God revealed to him through prophecy the culmination of sacred history.

The Acts of the Apostles is the fourth volume of the five-book Conflict of the Ages series and the last to fulfill cover Biblical events. This book shows the change in the character of the disciples to become champions of Christ and how a persecutor was transformed into proselyte, both show to believers raised in the Christian faith and those from without that Christ works to change everyone willing. In the last chapter, Ellen White transitions the scope of the Christianity from the Biblical record of sacred history to the events after the life of the Apostles done to her own day and then the climax of The Great Controversy between Christ and Satan.

I was reading this book along with the Bible a year ago. But I got off track and haven't read it in a few months. And I do want to continue, it is a very good book to help understand the NT writing of Paul and others.

This book helped me appreciate the New Testament even more, which I didn't think was possible. I felt like I grew a better understanding of what the apostles experienced. I now understand why this is a favorite from the Conflict of the Ages series.

I have read it in the internet but no physically, this book talks all about the story about the apostles of Jesus. An amazing story that is later followed by the great controversy, but even though the number of books are short the number of pages seem to be endless. in the end if you read the book in a quiet area without anyone not bothering you. You will find a connection with the last other book that you read (if you did) which is the Desire of ages. This will seem like the bible to you but with more explanations. That is kind of what it is. Ellen Gould. White wanted the book she was writing to concord with the bible because she was a prophet and all prophets concord with the bible. But all the other prophecies that she said also concorded and they passed too. Amazing isn't it, and this book also gives a long explanation about the life events of Paul whose original name was Saul of Tarsus. In the end the book has always an amazing message but I don't want to spoil the book so please just read the book. It will be an amazing experience!!!

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire.

This book is exactly what it says it is, the acts of the apostles. This book is primarily a book about everything that the apostles did during their time in this world. However, the truth be told, only three main apostles are really talked about in detail, Paul, Peter, and John. The book starts in the beginning right after the ascension of Christ and goes all of the way to the revelation of John and how the Bible finished. In my opinion this is one of the best books i have ever read, and probably the best Christian book that i have ever taken the time to read. I would easily recommend this book to anyone that is trying to better understand the new testament and what happened during the time of the early church. Other than just an explanation on what happened, Ellen G. White still has plenty of information that she ties to the history that will benefit any Christian. The only downside i suppose to this book is that it is a little bigger than usual. It is about 600 pages long. For me this wasn't a huge book, but for some it may take some time. Either way i think this book is amazing and i would submit it as being one of the best Christian books written in at least the past two centuries.

This penultimate book in Ellen G. White's Conflict of the Ages series covers the history of the Early church from the Great Gospel Commission of Christ and the Giving of the Spirit at Pentecost through the missionary journey's of the apostles and finally to the scene of John on Patmos with a brief introduction to the Revelation he received for God's people. The Journey's and heartaches of Paul as he preached unto the gentiles and wrote his epistles impressed me with how much he truly suffered for the sake of spreading the gospel. We truly have no idea what it means to deny oneself and take up thy cross and follow Christ.

This is the fourth book in the "Conflict of the Ages" series by Ellen White and possibly my favourite. She focuses mainly on the apostles Paul, Peter, and John with some references to the others. She elucidates upon their ministries and the miracles performed through the Holy Spirit from Pentecost onward. She also provides some historical information (eg.,about Nero and the Caesars, etc. and about the martyrdom of Peter, and Paul, and the banishment of John to Patmos where he received and recorded the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Beautiful and full of inspiration for seekers and Bible scholars to keep to the Way.

When the church was on fire being filled with the Holy Spirit and spread the gospel to the then known world. We need a modern day Pentacost and spread the gospel plus announce the soon return of Jesus to our modern world. Great book. Go and tell someone about Jesus and what He has done for you and how He has died to save the people.

This was my first time reading this, and I was highly engrossed by it. I have to admit, I've never read Acts very much, and this put a lot of things into perspective: when and why the various letters were written to the churches and so forth.

The book makes a parallel to the book with the same name in the New Testimony of the Bible.
The book gives additional info about apostles of Christ, as they can found in works of ancient chroniclers.

A lot of time and energy are granted to Paul and John, but the rest of the New Testament gets a fairly light brush. It's not bad, though certainly incomplete. I didn't feel like this was particularly groundbreaking as far as a study of the apostles or the early years of Christianity went.

I loved how she showed how all of the New Testament (except the Gospels) fit into the book of Acts. She walks you through Acts and explains how the epistles fit into it. Great read.

I thank God that I picked up these volume & cracked it open. Though it took me months to finish, these were months of diligent study that I would never count as wasted.
The books (found them in 2 volumes) trace the journey of the growth of the church following the ascension of Christ. Giving commentary from the books of Acts to Revelation. This was a wonderful accompaniment to actual bible study.

Fourth in Ellen White's "Conflict of Ages" series, dealing with the eponymous Biblical account. I can say this: reading about the apostles was never this fun. A highly captivating non-fiction piece!

Provides background for, or is an alternative way to access the information of the Bible - in the case of this volume, of Christian church history following Pentecost and the miraculous events that created the Christian Church. Once in a while a personal point of view on the part of Ellen White is expressed (supposedly under inspiration) that is not contained in the Bible. Think of it as a modern Targum.
