Once I started reading 'Scandal Between The Sheets', I couldn't put it down. It was such a sweet, yet, sensual read. Wesley was definitely passionate about protecting those he loved and cared about and he had a generous nature. I enjoyed Jasmine's character with the exception of her taking crap from her 'stepmonsters', she should have nipped that in the bud a long time ago. And her father should have taken more notice of how his wife and her children treated his daughter. Although the book was short, it was still very enjoyable! Another Great Read, Ms. Jackson.
From the beginning Wesley seems sexy. Jasmine breaking in his property and getting caught was too funny. He went right for her when he found out who she was and it was on from there. I really liked how he put the silly step mother and sister in their place but I think they should've been more of a problem in the story. It would've made it really interesting to see how he reacted under pressure and how she handled them.
Wes and Jasmine was another excellent story written by one of my favorite authors. Each time I have the honor of reading one of her stories they are filled with love. She draws her readers into the storyline and make them love her characters. Scandal Between the Sheets did not disappoint.
It's 4/3 and I'm debating re-listening to this book; it was ... well I liked Wes a lot ... and X: what's not good is I'm blanking on the heroine's name although I know that's more a me thing.
This made me really want to re-read Abe and Nicola's romance, and it made me miss the epic dynasties 12 connected book series Harlequin Desire used to do. (They ... don't do that any more do they?)
What bothered me was how they meet - how the heroine feels like the injured party WHEN SHE'S LITERALLY GOING THROUGH DUDE'S TRASH TO FIND DIRT ON HIS FRIENDS. Like ... Girl.
... What are you doing.
Then the whole "I don't want a relationships thing" ... I ... like I guess I'd like it more if I found it more believable? [It ... I guess maybe because her past and how things happened it felt more like lip service/that thing you say when you "can't get a man" - although she could easily too...]
I think it's just the minor quirks are annoying me too much right now [her friend saying how she wants to be a "bad girl" 🙄] - or it's more even how the narrator emphasizes certain phrases/words to make them goofier.
Blergh.
... So yeah I guess I should re-listen to it cuz other than that the story is really engaging and I like how their relationship develops.
Jaz and Wes Reporting Trust Love Tryst! 3.5***** Spoiler Alert.
Jasmine Carmody, only daughter of renowned surgeon Dr. Carmody, was caught rummaging through Was Brook's, adopted Danforth son, trash losing her mother's locket. Wes burnt by an earlier love interest/ reporter, resorted to following Jaz, invading her privacy, as she did with his family and him. Enemies quickly turned into lovers, and trust flourished, giving them a HEA.
Interesting characters with an unresolved plot involving the cartel and a torched coffee business. A theme of envy like the Fox's sour grapes flowed thru as Jax resisters and step-mother got what they deserved in the end as they chose to attack Jax and Wes, in Dr. Carmody 's presence, thereby killing the golden egg-laying goose, Jasime. The cartel offshoot went nowhere fast. Such a disappointment. Fun romance novel, Must-Read!
Reporter Jasmine Carmody is on a mission to get an expose' on Savannah's most respected family. Wesley Brooks is just as determined to stop her from writing anything that can harm his adoptive family. Wesley has a strong dislike towards reporters because of a painful past experience.
There is an unexpected attraction between the two that explodes into overwhelming passion. But a misunderstanding will put a wedge into this blooming relationship. Is there any hope?
Now that I've discovered e-books, I have been going back and reading books by some of my favorite romance authors that are now out of print. No, I don't have an e-reader (I sell them but I can't afford one myself!), but I read on my iPod. It's not as bad as it sounds.
This book starts off pretty funny as Jasmine Carmody, a reporter, is going through the garbage of Wesley Brooks, a dot.com millionaire. She's hoping to dig up some information on Abraham Danforth a candidate for senate and Wesley's surrogate father. When Wesley catches her, he assumes that she is a homeless person and offers her money for food! Jasmine turns down the money and runs (literally) and leaves behind a family heirloom. Wesley soon realizes who she is and what she's up to and turns the tables on her and starts to stalk her instead as a way of keeping her away from his adopted family. That backfires when the attraction between them can't be denied.
When reporter Jasmine Carmody gets caught red handed sneaking into Wesley Brooks yard and going through his garbage, the dominos start to fall. When Wesley was first awaken and had gone to investigate he thought it was a homeless person, only to discover a young woman. When Jasmine flees the scene she drops her locket, the only gift she has from her dead mother.
Soon Wesley finds the locket and gets all the information he can on her. Wesley confronts her and says he will be following her, everywhere she goes. Which he does. Soon Jasmine and Wesley find themselves falling for each other but first there is a couple things in their way, such as; evil stepsisters and a wicked stepmother, the fact she is a reporter and one had already turned on Wesley while he was in college, so he has hang up issues and numerous other things.
It was quite a cute, short love story out of the Dynasties: The Dansforths collection. Honest probably one of my favorites!
I love how the book starts off with JAsmine going through Wes's garbage, that was just funny and I could visualize that happening. I also loved how their union transpired. I enjoyed most how her stepsisters were gawking when she showed up at the hospital function with Wesley. Just another great Brenda Jackson Book!
