My books Your Soul's Plan: Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born (2007), Your Soul's Gift: The Healing Power of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born (2012), and Your Soul's Love: Living the Love You Planned Before You Were Born (2021) explore the premise that we are all eternal souls who plan our lives, including our greatest challenges, before we’re born for purposes of spiritual growth.
Your Soul's Plan contains stories of people who planned physical illness, having handicapped children, deafness, blindness, drug addiction, alcoholism, losing a loved one, and severe accidents.
Your Soul's Gift explores two topics that don't necessarily fall into the challenge category: spiritual awakening (though certainly an awakening can be challenging), and the pre-birth planning we do with our future pets. Those of you who love animals will be particularly touched to see how they agree to support us in our upcoming incarnation. The book also explores the pre-birth planning of miscarriage, abortion, caregiving, abusive relationships, sexuality, incest, adoption, poverty, suicide, rape, and mental illness.
The information about people's pre-birth plans was obtained by four gifted mediums and channels. The books present the actual conversations people had with their future parents, children, spouses, friends, and other loved ones when they planned their lives together. For readers, suffering that once seemed purposeless becomes imbued with deep meaning. Wisdom may be acquired in a more conscious manner; feelings of anger, guilt, blame, and victimization are replaced by acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, and peace.
Author Bio
In a personal session with a medium in 2003, I was astonished to speak with nonphysical beings who knew everything about me - not just what I had done in life, but also what I had thought and felt. They told me that I had planned many of my most difficult experiences before I was born. Realizing that a knowledge of pre-birth planning would bring great healing to people and allow them to understand the deeper purpose of their life challenges, I have since devoted my life to the study of pre-birth planning.
I read this book around when it first came out & it so completely altered for the better my relationship to food that I took the course, which was great too!
OK, if you're a fan of Geneen Roth's "Women Food & God," here is the tangible, meat&potatoes side her book was missing. Clear, concise, even giving me numerical values to measure my overeating! Very useful and highly recommended. If you need to make the spiritual connection, Ms. Roth's book will help there.

Read this and did Bob's seminar many years ago. Helped me to lose 25 lbs. very quickly. As with any weight loss approach, had I followed it, the weight, and more, would have stayed off.
I read the original book in the 80's and it literally changed my life. As a college sophomore that was 50 pounds overweight and had tried diet after diet only to be disappointed that I didn't lose weight or to have the weight return when I quit the diet I needed something else.
This book changed my whole outlook. As I recall the basic tenets were: *eat only when you're hungry and eat slowly *eat what your body craves *stop when you're full Simplistic and powerful! Some 30 years later, my weight has not fluctuated more than 1o pounds.
This was another good book, written in the 1980's (the version I read), and it was about Intuitive Eating. You eat when you are hungry, and ONLY when you are hungry, eat slowly, eat food that you truly enjoy and choose thoughtfully, stop the moment you aren't hungry, don't eat for emotional reasons. And according to the author, you lose weight. Well, the fact is, you may lose a bit of weight, but you very well may not. You probably won't GAIN weight if you do this. It was good book, well-meaning certainly, and it definitely wasn't fat shaming or about "fat is bad" so deserves a plug.

When I tried to add this book to my Goodreads list, I was surprised how many books there are out there with similar titles. But how many of them are, in fact, diet books? You know, the "here follow this method and you'll lose weight forever and keep it off" kind of book that swears it's not a diet, it a new revolutionary idea. This book comes awfully close to being that type of diet book. The author doesn't list what to eat or when or where to eat, but the goal of this book is to become what the author calls "naturally thin", which is another way of saying "here's how you can lose weight." The exercises are good, however. The questions and fill-in-the-blanks sections contain ideas to get you thinking about what you eat and why. Anything that can break the cycle of mindlessly stuffing food in your face is good, in my book. But the author never ventures into the fact that some people are never going to be thin, no matter how "naturally thin" they may act. Mind cannot overcome DNA. My suggestion is to read the book for the exercises that the author provides but ignore most of the rest of it. There are good ideas behind the book. However, it's a little too simplistic. Too much surface and not enough diving down below to explore the issue in more depth.
This is a little great book and a trailblazer - the book that first introduced the idea that, to lose weight and keep it down the smart way, you just need to eat what you want, to satisfaction, when hungry. It's the granddad of Intuitive Eating, I Can Make You Thin, Mindful Eating, and a plethora of derivative books that for the most part added nothing much to the original, while banking plenty of money. This method doesn't work for everyone of course but it is indeed quite clever. After the re-elaboration of Intuitive Eating it has positioned itself in the collective perception more towards the Anti-Diet philosophy than originally intended by Schwartz. Which is a pity because a lot more people would go for it if it was made more clear that you are meant indeed to (very organically) regulate your weight this way, and lose it if you need, duh! But I am very glad that bar some transient exaggerations the general idea is quietly percolating despite everything, because it's just one sane idea in the middle of a madhouse.
The basic premise of the book is to eat the way thin people eat and to listen to your body. The second part is the hard part if you have spent your life using food to cover up other issues in your life. Still, the advice is solid and the statistics on dieting are strong enough to keep even the most adamant dieter away from the low-fat section of the grocery store. Schwartz has based the book on a full day seminar, so it is not a smooth read and the book is full of exercises to complete. Still, the information is worth the work to get at it.
A depressing read for most people trying to lose weight.
I had already worked out that dieting hasn't worked. According to this book, diets will never work, so I can stop trying. The author tries to suggest that thinking like a thin person (which is a fake-it-until-you-make-it sort of approach), will make it all better. Even with layering on the intuitive eating approach with this book, thinking like a thin person didn't work, either, leading to the conclusion that nothing works. As I said, depressing.
