Dominion

Rate this book
Vampire Prince Lucien rules over his Dominion. He can have anything his heart desires. What he desires most is Kinji, his vampire lover and bodyguard, and Kinji desires none but his Master.

But they have an agreement. Lucien can have everything he desires. His bloodharem, who want nothing more than to please him. Nina, its newest member. Even the lion shifter, Sahak, who wants him dead.

But where you have vampires and shifters you have tension, plots, and murder. Lucien’s father and grandsire were slain and the identity of the killer, or killers, is unknown. As the threat against Lucien grows, Kinji, the staff of the Prince’s Dominion, and even the bloodharem must do what they can to protect their Prince and his Dominion.

Multipublished author of erotic romances, mostly in ebook format, many of which are gay (m/m, yaoi) erotic romances though he also writes m/f and menage as Jaymie Michaels. He writes in multiple genres--scifi, fantasy, mystery, paranormal and horror--and often blends them into new and interesting forms.

I am not up for writing a big long review on this one. Bottom line, it was too long. The sex scenes and domination were pretty erotic and passionate at times. There were scenes that brought in women that it could have done without and the shifter needed to be introduced into the inner circle sooner.

This book has a TON of one sided conversations that the characters have in their head with themselves. Not pyshic speaking from one to another but actually talking to themselves inside thier head. For example it would say "I hope he comes to the right conclusion" "He is not acting like himself" in italics in the book. This is actually the character thinking these thoughts. Whole paragraphs are done this way. It was very unique but since the book was overlong to begin with this got old before the book ended.

Also, the way Kinji speaks about himself drove me crazy. "Kinji does what Master wants" "Kinji lives to protect Master" as he is looking at Lucien and answering his questions. This backs off a bit toward the later part of the book but in the beginning it is really done too often.

What I loved about this book is that it actually hit the mark so many gay vampire books miss. The sex scenes were hot and the m/f/m coupling was erotic and believable. Another thing that I enjoyed was that the story still held a decent plot that kept me wondering what was going to happen next. There was action and romance with the right amount of BDSM. I was actually hoping there was a part 2 to this story, but there isn't.
