Sexual satisfaction is easy to find for angel-demon-human hybrids. But romantic fulfillment? Not so. Something’s gotta give for Tole and Zee, the two relationship-challenged members of the Coven of Three. Both must struggle with confounding matters of the heart while tackling another challenge on behalf of the Utopian Metroplex of Regenerie.

Ridley Barron, Tole’s vampire lover, has decided to leave Regenerie indefinitely. His lifestyle is stressful for Tole, and Ridley can no longer bear hurting the man he loves. If he’s away long enough, he reasons, Tole might just find another, more suitable partner.

Zee, too, has problems on the romance front. His sometimes lover has taken a shine to her new co-leader, Sebastian, and this rival's rapidly eclipsing Zee as the apple of her eye.

Meanwhile, disturbing reports have been circulating about the Pleasureplex of Xanandru, a hub of carnal indulgence far to the southwest of Regenerie. Bloodsport, sexual slavery, abuse of minors -- all are rumored to be taking place in this nouveau Sin City.

Zee volunteers to travel there as "just another anonymous perv" and snoop around. Sick of feeling like "the angelic dickless wonder," he figures he needs a break from his do-good routine. An unexpected and intriguing email also leads Ridley to the Pleasureplex...but for an entirely different reason.

What happens in Xanandru does not stay in Xanandru, and it will drastically change the lives of good and bad guys alike.

It took me few days to finish this one -- not because it's bad but because deep inside I don't want to finish it as quick, I don't want to part with the stories just yet.

The third Utopia story has two plots:

(1) Tole and Ridley : three months after they are together, the two are torn with the problem in their relationship. Ridley has to feed and he doesn't want to drink from Tole because he is afraid that he will infect him. Ridley also worries that the fact that he is a nocturnal vampire has disturbed in Tole's sleep time -- and he can't hurt the man he loves deeply anymore that he already has. Tole, on the other hand, feels hurts that Ridley must find donor elsewhere but at the same time he needs to keep the secret that he is a hybrid, an Exceptional Being, as well as one of the Powers of Regenerie. So Ridley decides to leave, indefinitely, hoping that it will give Tole time to find someone else. He goes to Xanandru, after receiving an invitation from his former lover, Andrew who is the leader of Xanandru.

(2) Zee - the angel heavy hybrid, another part of the Coven of Three, who is being dumped by his lover Mirandi because he is too boring, too goodie-goodie. So he decides to throw caution to the wind, and volunteers to go to Xanandru, to investigate some illegal activities (which might involves drugs, sex with minor). There he meets with another hybrid, Sebastian, who happens to be Mirandi's current squeeze -- but in Xanandru, Zee and Sebastian then are trapped in the sinister plan made by Andrew.

Oh gosh, the third story of the Utopia X series is definitely my favorite. I am so in love with Ridley from the second book, and I fell more in love with him here. Especially because the third story also written from his point of view, so I can read what he is thinking about Tole, and how deep his love runs for the other man.

I also start loving Tole -- because here I can read how he struggles about his feeling (hybrid doesn't do falling in love very well). There is this scene where, deep in depression after Ridley is gone, for the first time, Tole sleeps after shifting to one of his angel ancestry (which never happens before), that just breaks my heart. I want to cry when I read it. Their feeling to each other is just so strong. I love how they acknowledge their love, finally, how Ridley keep calling Tole with his birth name, as well as sweetheart and honey (so sweet!) I just love this couple so, so much -- I think they are definitely one of my favorite M/M couples.

Zee and Sebastian are also nice couple to read ...

There is only book #4 left, but I don't think Ridley is there *pout*. But this series is still so good!

This is book 3 in the Utopia X series. Its kind of got two parallel stories that meet up. Ridley and Tole have fallen in love but Ridley feels badly that he has to feed from others because he doesn’t want to turn Tole so he decides to leave town for a while so Tole can find someone else. (Dumbest reason ever but whatever). He gets an e-mail from an old friend/lover who runs the pleasure city (you name it you can get it) so decides to check it out. Meanwhile the three have heard bad things about the pleasure city, kids, slaves, really bad stuff and after breaking up with his girlfriend Zee says he’ll go and check it out in person. Zee meets up with his ex’s boyfriend (who’s now his boyfriend, tut-tut) and gets roped into participating in a “game” and meets up with Ridley. Of course the game is totally fixed and Ridley calls Tole to come help and get them all out of their with their heads still on. I really enjoyed the story. Lots of intrigue and nasty stuff with some tender love story between Ridley and Tole and poor Zee, still looking for love. A great read I enjoyed.

KZ Snow has created a fascinating world, and manages to convey it to the reader in just enough detail without going overboard. I particularly liked Tole and Ridley in this book; it's my favorite of the series.
