I’m only recently starting to get into Blade comics and this is honestly a good way to get a lot of old information while sitting up a great new hero. I’m very excited to see what Marvel does with Bri going forward, what name she picks, what outfits she makes. And Blade is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, with his own solo series starting soon as well. Definitely worth a read.

I liked this book. Blade being his bad@$$ self. I liked Brielle as well, but the book was so rushed. I really don't think she had enough development time. Her quote of "imagin I just learned about this stuff" is pretty appreciated. I think this book would have benefited from being dix issues instead of five. There were times I turned a page and wondered if I missed something.

Brielle has hit her teens and now knows vampires are real, and suddenly is doing through some changes herself. Could this have something to do with her father she never met? Now she has a target painted on her back at both school and on the streets.

The book is action-packed but very rushed. The training I can accept as it could be done at vampire speed. However, this is an example. Someone is attacked, and the next panel they are chained up. The next panel they escape. These are gaps that are a bit too big. Also, everyone seems to be a bit too accepting of everything. I guess when you accept, vampires are real, and every third person is a mutant in Marvel/Disney. I guess nothing much else phases you.

This is a good book, and I look forward to seeing more of these characters. The book finishes with a couple of pages of thumbnail variant covers and some full-page covers.

Decent quick read for a summer day, but other than the novelty of Brielle, it's a quite forgettable story.

What I liked: The Crypt of Shadows story - while it's just a couple of pages long, I thought it was better than the entire miniseries. I also like the general YA feel, and with a different writer and artist, maybe there is potential for this character. Also, the comic has vampires and Blade in it, and a good smount of action.

What I didn't like: Feels like there are elements missing from the story - things that should have happened, or which happened and I should have known about. There are also glaring plot holes like how Blade just decides to come back to see his daughter out of the blue after being absent from her life until then. Or how Brielle easily beats a big bad guy who had knocked down Blade earlier, despite having just 1h of combat training. The art is very simplistic and has a manga vibe that I don't like in action-focused stories.

Giving a hero a kid sidekick, especially one that's their own kid, is a trope that Marvel doesn't do too often these days, and for a character like Blade who basically hates team-ups most of the time, feels like it should be a recipe for disaster. But this isn't bad.

Brielle slots neatly into Blade's world without feeling like a big flashing "Look at all the continuity we've pulled on" sign instead of a character. Her powers are distinct enough from Blade's to make her interesting in her own right, and I like that her mom gets to play a starring role in the plot as well.

Karen S. Darboe's art is one of those more and more common styles these days that crosses the line between manga and superheroics, though the colours can get a little blocky at times.

Bloodline's an interesting addition to Marvel's canon, and I'm curious to see where she goes next. Her opening adventure's a little by the numbers, but that's not entirely a bad thing when establishing a new character.

This was better than I expected. I rolled my eyes when I saw it on the shelf at my comic book store. Blade's daughter gets his powers when she's in high school and also finds out Blade is her dad. Lore does a great job with the dialogue. The story though kept feeling like there were pages missing though. Both in the action sequences and with missing scenes. I half expected a few panels to say "Scene Missing" throughout this.

Darboe's art is pretty good. However, I can't stand the lack of backgrounds. Swirling colors and speed lines can't replace a lack of details. This is one area where I can't stand manga's influence on Western art.

* Points for setting this in Atlanta and not NY
* Half a point for simplifying the history of Blade into 'Ignore EVERYTHING you've read. Remember Deacon Frost? He bad'

This could be ANY urban fantasy story written since 2010. It just feels generic and Blade is tacked on for (marketing?) reasons. You could do a lot with such a generic character. We'll see where she ends up in a few years.
-----
Bonus: So vampirism is genetic in the MU? I can't keep up. It's like being Italian?
Bonus Bonus: Generic urban fantasy heroine is....generic. This reads like a YA reboot of Blade

This was a mistake. Brielle is not differentiated from the other urban fantasy monster hunters/vampire killers. Blade's character is so far from the bot of evolution Jason Aaron did for him, this totally makes me feel this was done because of pending MCU television series/movie.

I get the profit motive for having characters be like the ones in the MCU. But gives us, the reader something to enjoy at the same time (which this same company managed with James Robinson's Scarlet Witch).

A very good story introducing a very cool character, but the differing artwork really detracted from the story. It was so vastly different, that it was almost hard to follow who the main character was (the different depictions of her varied so much).
The good artwork was great, though, it was the lesser art that really dragged this rating and storyline down.
It felt a bit rushed, but all in all, it was a good story.

What a great intro book to a connection to our ever elusive Blade! Brielle Brooks, daughter of Blade (will we be calling her Bloodline?) has a good intro story, complete with training, and a fun connection to Deacon Frost.
Overall, a fun book. Wonder if we will see her as part of a Young Avengers group.
Recommend.

I was hopeful, but this writing was just bad. From the very start when Brielle needs to get a vampire and uses the nerdy characters special controller as a weapon. Until the end where Blade magically breaks out of his chains due to his bloodlust but quickly calms down. The book wasn't all bad, but it was mostly bad.

Kid of lame, but not as bad as I feared. The art isn’t very interesting, but Danny Lore gets points for remembering that Blade is British and grew up in London. Also nice to see Safron (a deep cut Blade reference) as Bri’s mother.

Terrifically ugly, manga-adjacent art married to a terrifically dull "teen vampires fight" storyline. Basically, Brielle learns she's Blade's daughter. Blade shows up to teach her some tricks so she can defeat another high-schooler who works with the vampire who turned Blade.

Boring!!

An excellent Young Adult story about Blade’s daughter discovery of her father’s identity that is as much as coming of age story as it is a supernatural horror comic that fits the Marvel mode.

I mean it’s alright. Dad blade is funny. Rushes through establishing brielle as a character bc she already knows about vampires at the beginning

A really solid origin for a fascinating character. Love the energy suffusing this book, and there’s a fun Gen-Z Atlanta vibe to things that feels pretty authentic. Hope to see more adventures for Bloodline in the future!
