ada Channing never thought she would see Aaron McKensie again after that night, that one glorious night when she'd lost all good sense and muzzled all the voices telling her why being with him wasn’t a good idea. He was older, wealthy, and white. Jada was none of those things, and yet she'd fallen for Aaron anyway—just as her black great-great grandmother Dorcas had fallen for her white great-great grandfather Mr. Joseph all those years ago. Their relationship had been doomed from the start, and Jada saw no reason to think hers and Aaron's would be any different. Yet what happens when Aaron reappears years later, completely oblivious to the knowledge of his child Joshua, and the feelings Jada had locked away after that one night return twice as powerfully? Will history repeat itself, or will Jada give herself the chance to create an entirely new future?
Savannah J. Frierson is a USA TODAY best-selling and award-winning author penning diverse romance and mainstream fiction full of genuine characters, authentic stories, and passionate feeling.
So feeling, was totally sucked into the story and real dialog between characters! Witty. Charming. And down right HILARIOUS at parts. Loved this book and fast falling in love with this writers writings!
After having read several interracial romances, it is my humble opinion that any book written by Savannah J. Frierson is a sure-fire winner.
This Harvard Grad of 2005, is spot-on with her character development and her editing. I am constantly amazed and pleased with her love of writing.
After having purchased this ebook from lulu.com for 8 bucks, I can truly say that it was worth every single solitary penny.
Overall, Ms. Frierson has written a superb interracial love story with believable characters who happen to experience problems that are just too real in today's culture.
If you should happen to find this book via lulu.com, diesel-ebooks.com, or even amazon.com, please do yourself a favor and buy this book.
very inspiring piece of work. ms. frierson certainly knows her mind. this is only the second book by her that i've read but i already notice a trend in how she likes to have her male main speaking other languages. she like her men refined and secular. that's quite appealing
Liked the main characters Jada and Aaron, even though I must admit she annoyed me a little bit early on. Love Josh. Love Aaron reaching to Josh, the was he broke down....Wow. Josh and Aaron's bond was great
I liked Aaron's mother, Isabelle but his father Alexander is a bastard.
Veronica, at first I wanted to hate her b/c I thought she was in on the bs Alexander was up to. In the end I just felt sorry for her. And her parents are both scum.
Jada's grandma Candy brought too much negativity into her life. The author tried to redeem her but I was already cool on her. But I'd take her over Alexander or Veronica's loser parents any day of the week.
I was mad that Jada went to that dinner. Aaron should have never told her about it and just told his father to go to hell. That was a shit show and Alexander apology should not be accepted and I don't buy that he was protecting his son. I called bull shit the first time he tried to use that excuse.
Great story, love the friendships, family bonding and love story
Aaron and Jada are such a fun couple to read. Funny, fun loving, with a cute kid on the hip; what’s not to love? Showing some of the hardships that interracial couples go through, not only interracial but add wealth in one side, of course the white side. The love they share is such a breath of fresh air. This is definitely a great book that I will most assuredly be recommending to my friends if asked (or not) for a good book to snuggle up to and read, it’s perfect!
I really liked the reading style of Ms Frierson. Being this is the first book of hers that I have read, I am impressed and will be seeking out others.
I received this book as an ARC from Hidden Gems for my honest opinion.
I think Reconstructing Jada Channing is about shedding all the hurtful teachings families pass down to children that hinder future relationships. Jada Channing has a family tree filled with women who learned hard lessons about love. She hears these stories time and again. She hears it so much that she thinks it can't or won't be any different for her. That kind of hopelessness informs some of the decisions she makes that end up hurting people that she loves.
This is a thoughtful love story that brought me to tears more than once.
What can say I really enjoyed this book I liked Aaron and Jada Mae. they were friends who fell in love even though society and their families thought they should not be together. I liked the secondary characters too they were very entertaining and real.I loved Joshua he was a very cute and funny. This story will touch your heart as it did mine you will route for this couple like I did.
The Book is a wonderful read with a beautiful story. What I real y like about it is that it portrayed every single issues faced by interracial couple and interracial dating in our society today!. Love, Love it! Im definitely recommending this book to anyone who love interracial dating and couples to read it because I learned a great deal of lessons from it.
I just happened to read this now, of all Ms. Frierson books. It might not as sexy as any interracial romance I've read so far, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading page by page. It was really a nice and rich read. And I really loved Joshua! So cute!
Jada and Aaron's story is the common friends who end up sleeping together and after years of being apart, they realise that there's more to their frienship, in more ways than one. Ms Frierson though, has an amazing ability to draw you in and turns a regular story into something more!!
This was a good story. The writing got better with each page. The drama close to the end between the two main characters seemed a bit silly, but it ended happily so I was happy.
