TONY MULLIN isn't sure what she's doing in a big medieval pointy hat at her best friend's re-wedding, but when she sees a gloriously handsome mystery man among the guests, she's glad she's not somewhere else. Imagine her surprise when she finds out he's none other than David Peterson, who's grown from a geeky, gangly high school student to a tall and gorgeous software entrepreneur. Too bad she's sworn off men. DAVID PETERSON has loved Tony Mullin since they went to high school together, but Tony married the high school quarterback. Imagine David's surprise when he discovers she's ditched the husband. When a freak snowstorm strands them together, David determines to win Tony's heart, even though Tony doesn't want her heart to be won. But David didn't make his fortune by giving up easily. Too bad women are so much harder to understand than computers . . .
Katriena Knights started writing before she learned to read. Some of her early efforts included poetry like "Ode to a Pancake" and an emotional epic (65 pages) novel about a blind horse who wins the Kentucky Derby.
She has since graduated to more realistic subjects like vampires and extraterrestrials, but somehow some kind of romance always sneaks in (even the blind horse had a sexy boyfriend). She has published a number of contemporary and paranormal romances, and continues to write regularly for a variety of venues.
Katriena currently lives in the mountains of Colorado with her kids, and a variety of pets.
Have you ever wanted to go to your high school reunion to show everyone how well you are doing in life? Or have you ever wanted to show up for your high school reunion looking so much better that no one recognizes you and everyone is also in awe of you?
David Peterson shows up for a classmate’s wedding (basically a high school reunion) looking like a hunk, wearing an expensive designer suit. Antonytte “Tony” Mullin had no idea who he was in high school. Apparently he was her math tutor, but she still didn’t remember him very much. Gradually, she realized that he was the boy she shot down at a dance because she was too concerned about remaining with the popular group. Could she make amends now or should she make amends? Tony is struggling with rebuilding her life, dealing with past issues. She is taking classes to become an accountant even though she hates dealing with numbers. Tony used to love drawing, but has turned her back on it because she has heard that the outlook for artist jobs is not promising.
David has made a successful career out of something he enjoys doing, but has not had much time for dating. He also never got over his high school crush who didn’t even seem to notice him back then. When the opportunity to rescue Tony comes up, David jumps at the chance to be her knight in shining armor. He has always been kind and patient with Tony, but she overlooks him, favoring her own agenda.
Even though the story kind of happened the way that I expected, I still enjoyed it very much. I fell in love with David and was wishing that I could still spend more time with him even after the story ended. Tony reacted the only way she could due to her past experiences, but she also changed for the better after she made some revelations with a little help from her friends. The plot was very interesting to me because I have always wondered about former classmates even though I have yet to attend a reunion. Ms. Knights’ writing style is quick-paced, making reading a pleasure. I will definitely look for more books from this author.
For a fun high school reunion, wedding-style, snap up a copy of Dealing with David. It will appeal to anyone who has ever wondered about their high school classmates, wanted to carry out an outstanding appearance at their high school reunion, or just needed a great story to read that com
This book is a really great story of overcoming your past. David and Tony went to high school together. She was the beautiful cheerleader, and he was the picked on nerd. Now she is dealing with the getting over a bad marriage and divorce, and he is a handsome and rich video game designer. They meet up again at the medieval themed vows renewal of their classmate (also Tony’s best friend).Who wouldn’t love to run into such a good looking main in a velvet medieval cut maid of honor dress with one of those crazy pointed hat on her head, and him looking all sexy in his expensive suit and R2D2 tie. Not that she recognizes him at first. Thanks to a surprise snow storm she is stranded and has to spend the night at his house. David quickly realizes that the feelings he had for Tony in high school were real, and that he would like to have her for his own now. He just has to get past the walls she has built after having a controlling and emotional abuser for an ex-husband. So how does a guy do that?? You get the gal to agree to non-date dates: innocent lunches, sledding, and supper. Tony fights tooth and nail before realizing that not all men are like her ex, and that David is truly one of the good guys. Their trip to HEA is a truly bumpy ride, but a great love story.
The things I liked about this book were that there were parts of Tony’s inner struggles that I could relate to so much. Divorce is never an easy thing to get over, and some wounds pop up when you least expect it. I love reading a book like this where I connect with one or both of the main characters. I recommend y’all checking this one out.
