quite a long book, the book tell about tough situations that happen to people and how they deal with it.

The part I really like is "Do it Yourself or Do it without", that chapter tells me that we can learn a lot of things especially upon dealing with small problems before they become disasters. I also like when they mention that coping is not the same as thriving.

But what do we do in tough times? How do we hold on? What motivates us to get up again. Too keep trying for one more step, day, event?
I think it is part in knowing we are not here alone. We have God beside us, often carrying us through. Our family and friends are often in the very same boat with us. Mostly helping us row with that one oar that is left. People have done this before us...and came through stronger. We can grow and have patience and strength by hearing their stories. In Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Times, Tough People there are many of these such stories. And an abundance of hope, faith, love and trust within the same pages. Stories that lift us up. Stories that teach us lessons. Most often stories that touch our own souls.

This is a great book for folks going through tough times of any sort. The stories tell how others got through tough times and give you ideas of how to handle them yourself.

Life is full of resilient people. Challenging times bring out the inner strength that we may not have realized we are capable of possessing.

I noticed this book sharing a space with many "To Be Read" books. Although the book was published following the Recession it appeared to be relevant to the current crisis occurring around the world. I found some of the stories very interesting and some left me thinking it could have been worse.
The closing of libraries has encouraged me to read several books that have been patiently waiting for someone to open them and enjoy.

Had for a long time and while older couldn't be more perfect

This was written for the great recession. But I think there is a lot about this that is perfect for 2020. Because this year has been really bad and I needed to see stories of faith and things getting better and people making it through difficult times. I'm going to keep praying that I can make it through these difficult times.

I have to admit, the first couple chapters of this book weren't my cup of tea. I guess I wasn't expecting this book to be mainly focused on the recession. After the first couple chapters though, some other stories did come up and I enjoyed those. I will also be reading the second part of this book, count your blessings, since I unknowingly, had it in my collection already.

I don’t know about you but for me, times just seem a little tougher than they’ve used to be. It’s nice to be able to pick up a book like Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Times, Tough People and get a bit of inspiration throughout my day. Real stories from peoples everyday lives like our own can be one the greatest up lifters in this day and age next to the Bible.

This book is filled with 101 stories about overcoming the economic crisis and other daily challenges. It’s very easy to browse through, you can read it straight or like me, pick through the various categories to whatever suits your mood/situation.

This book is wonderful coffee table, bedside, or bathroom reader, in my opinion. It would make the a great gift for anybody that you know!

As a reader from third world country, i think some of the stories are not inspiring at all. Eg : because of the depression you cant travel anywhere. becoz of some minor injuries or a few problems made you feel depressed and thinking you are great because you are able to overcome it sounded a bit exaggerated to me. Maybe these stories inspired other people but not the people from 3rd world country im sure. Granted there are a few other stories in this book which are reaaly inspiring. So, for me it was worth it reading all the crappy stories just to get to the good ones. Some good stories are just worth it.

In Jan after my husband lost his job, I saw this title on my book list and thought now might be just the right time to read this.

Stories of loss, both material and physical are in here. I did skip over quite a few of the stories involving illness. I've been through a lot of that myself and didn't feel the need to go back to those times.

What I did enjoy as reading about people who seemed to have a really good life, only to have the recession send them one step back in life. The consensus is really that old saying, "It's not what happens to you, it's how you deal with the problem", which was a nice reminder when your going through tough times.

I would say over ninety percent of the contributors were female. This edition could easily have been titled Tough Times, Tough Women. Earnestly, few men wrote pieces. This book definitely provided fuel for my upcoming semester. I am no stranger to the Chicken Soup series. ( I remember the craze surrounding Chicken Soup in the 90s.) True to the title.

A good book but probably it did not really have an impact on me since I have not gone through similar circumstances. However definitely a should-read book for those who have been sacked etc as a result of the crisis.
