Macomber drew me in from the first sentence allowing me to connect with her characters and live vicariously through her words. This novel was short & sweet, yet still deeply emotional. Everything became so real to me without being over the top.

I enjoyed the intertwining characters’ stories. It made the novel more complex and rewarding. At the same time it let me get to know the characters on multiple levels. The dynamic among the members of the Deliverance Company was intriguing. Their lives and the personal realisations that they each came to were quite revealing. The women in this novel were also fantastic. They were so different yet so real. I loved seeing everyone’s different outlook on life.

Macomber’s writing will never go out of style. She’s once again created a sweet novel that has wound its way into my heart.

I generally love Debbie Macomber's books because I know I do not have to worry about profanity and/or sex in the books. This book had more of the latter (and a bit of the former) than I like in a book and I was surprised. I see this book was one of her earlier works (1995) and I wonder if maybe her writing evolved to have much less of this type of writing as it matured.

The book had likeable characters and a somewhat suspenseful storyline. Although the reader will probably suspect the ending early on, there were some surprises along the way.

Because of the sex scenes, I'm not sure I would read any more of her earlier books but will stick to the later ones, which I think are much better.

I've read a dozen or so of Debbie Macomber books and this is one of my favorites. Love, romance, sexual tension, and shooting and blowing people up thrown in too. What a great combo : ) I love reading about sexy, attractive people that are horned up and still say no to sex. Takes me back to my single days. : ) hahahaha.

It was a fun, easy read.

December 2011----just found this book again and forgotten why I liked it so much. Since there was a little bit of Christmas in here and I am reading Christmas books this month, I read it again. Still a fun easy read.

Everyone loves a good romance. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorites - gotta get this one read before my mom comes this weekend....she's next in line for this one!

Got it finished and passed off to my mom. This was a great book - easy read. She's such a great romance author.

This was an amazing book. Very well written and a quick read. You will fall in love with all of the main characters. There are two couples's lives being played out and you're equally captivated by both. A must read.

"Someday Soon" is another "hit" by Debbie Macomber. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though some parts put me on "edge" a little bit. A story of love involving 2 mercenaries and the women who turned their lives around.

This is a love story with a lot of angst and conflict as the main characters try to work out their differences in life goals and ultimately find a way to love. There are two love stories in this book, that of Tim Mallory, an injured warrior who resents the assistance of his physical therapist. Francine pushes Tim hard to get him to walk again and the sparks start flying right away. The other love story is actually the main story of the book, that of Cain McClellan and Linette. Cain is doing what he is an expert at, being a highly paid mercenary and risking his life on every job while Linette is a widow, afraid to commit to this man who may die just as her first husband did. The two of them have a lot of conflicts before they finally get together and the twist and drama continues even then. This is a mesmerizing book with a happy ending and lovable characters.

i read this book all in one day ( i didnt have another book).

he was the owner of a mercanary company which i didnt think was legal to go around the world killing people

he fell in love with a widow that owned a yarn store

his partner fell in love with teh physical therapist that came to his house to help him after he got shot in the leg and he can walk again

the wounded guy married the therapist, moved to a island off wa that he owned and raised lamas. 2 men came after him, he killed them both while his wife was in labor, came inside and delivered the baby (no mention of him washing his hands)

the other man married the yarn widow and moved her to his ranch in montana where he got her preganat and immedalty broke his promise to her by leaving on a mission after he sold the company and was supposed to stay on the farm raising cows which he knew nothing about. the bad guys came to kill teh wife while he was gone, she survived the car accident but lost teh baby.

the bad guys all got caught, he killed the one responsible and came home to live happily ever after with his wife and cows.

An early Debbie Macomber book with some powerful sexy romance scenes!

Cain, a soldier of fortune and owner of Deliverance Company, finds himself on a mission in San Fransisco helping his buddy and fellow soldier rehabilitate from an injury. He hires Francine, who is a very special physical therapist and really gets Tim Mallory's attention. Meanwhile, Cain visits his high school friend and meets this adorable widow, Linette. They end up spending Christmas together at his ranch, shocking family members, but Cain is sent away on a mission that interrupts his holiday and romance.

Who is going to give up their soldier way of life first or will they?

So, I picked this up hoping for a good trashy romance. It fulfilled that requirement- nothing too deep, not wonderful writing, but passable, decent characters, a good secondary plot...my biggest complaint was the unnecessary drama taped on at the end. It felt like the author didn't think the manuscript was long enough, so she had to stir up some trouble...but didn't have time to completely deal with all of the repercussions.

If you don't overthink it, this is a light read for a boring afternoon!

Her husband died two years ago so she is widowed and just JUST met this guy. Didnt really share a whole lot but hey....why not by chapter 4 go away with him to his mountain retreat.

This was published in 1995 and Macomber’s more recently books are more to my taste.

The male characters are killers, yet the women overlook this small character flaw. I can’t get past this. Plot is at times undeveloped as when the horribly injured killer who is receiving physical therapy suddenly walks so he can entice his therapist into bed.

Just not her best.

Someday Soon is the first book in the Deliverance Company trilogy and if I had know that I would have read it before Sooner or Later.

Cain loves his job of saving people and is good at it. When no one else can extract the person Cain and his group of men get the job done one way or another. Life is going well when Cain meets Linette at Christmas party and cannot get her out of his mind. Unsure how to handle his feelings Cain stumbles around learning life is about more then work.

Linette has known sadness, her husband died far too young and she has slowly been working on moving on. Everything goes wrong though when she meets Cain and instantly feels attracted to him. Unable to accept Cain is a mercenary Linette decides to shut herself off to him and his dangerous line of work.

I really feel that Mrs. Macomber's early works have more life and depth to them then her current works. Some parts were not totally smooth but I still enjoyed the story a good deal. I read most of the book on a flight. I will have to find Sooner or Later to read.

Linette’s a two-year widow who falls in love with mercenary(!) Cain. Of course, there’s strife since she fears for his safety. I didn’t get her instant attraction to Cain, because of she’d been sad so long, and then to jump so quickly into romance with him. I did, however, like the secondary story of Cain’s injured colleague, Tim, and his physical therapist, Francine. Yes, I know, a medical professional involved with a patient – not good. But there was something about the way that gruff Tim wormed his way into the inexperienced Francine’s heart that was more believable than the main story.

This book was OK but I am giving it an extra star because the female characters are written with self-esteem and self-value unlike most female characters in modern novels. The female characters in this book do not lower themselves for the men in their lives; rather they REQUIRE the male to elevate themselves to their standards. It is rare today and was refreshing to read. She also resolved the final conflict in a logical manner that fits with the story. That all said, much of the book was predictable and shmaltzy. Good if the reader is looking for something light and fluffy, not deep.

Someday Soon by Debbie Macomber is a light romance about two different couples. One is Tim, a mercenary whose leg got blown up by a mine, who falls in love with his therapist, Francine. I enjoyed watching the relationship between these two develop best. The other was Cain, Tim's boss, and a widow named Linette. I enjoyed this book because after having put my cat down, I needed something light and cheery. This book was just what I was looking for at the time. There were lots of emotions in this book. I enjoy reading Debbie Macomber, but not all of her books are brilliant. I'm glad tosay this is one of her better ones. Even though I can generally guess where the story line is going, it doesn't take any fun from reading the pages as they toss and turn.

Watching how Cain and Linette make a friendship turn into a love story is exciting to reading. I can read and see in my head how their life is going.

Such a good read and definitely one to purchase.

Disappointed

The storyline was basically good. But this author used to write inspirational fiction that did NOT include blow by blow descriptions of the sex act.
They werent necessary. Saying that the couple had passionate intomacy cpvers it. That she would stoop to this type of writing makes her little different now than the bodice-ripper "romamce" wroters.
I'm sorry, but I will no longer be reading her books.

Well written. Cain and Linett really ride the roller coaster of relationships. She already lost one husband and doesn't want to get involved with Cain because of his job. I enjoyed the characters interactions and storyline. Sometimes I thought Linett expected too much, but that was part of the story.

Book off great even if he appeared to be two hero's and heroines. Finally both couples get a HEA but I'm only at 80%. The next page it appears I have jumped into another story. Nope, same story (I think) just an added twist.

Not interested. Too many turns, too much jumping around, etc.
