The ideal supplement and study guide for students preparing for advanced statistics Packed with fresh and practical examples appropriate for a range of degree-seeking students, Statistics II For Dummies helps any reader succeed in an upper-level statistics course. It picks up with data analysis where Statistics For Dummies left off, featuring new and updated examples, real-world applications, and test-taking strategies for success. This easy-to-understand guide covers such key topics as sorting and testing models, using regression to make predictions, performing variance analysis (ANOVA), drawing test conclusions with chi-squares, and making comparisons with the Rank Sum Test.
The reason I picked up this book was, my Econ professor talked about regression analysis in multivariable environments to give a more accurate estimate with respect to confounding and other variables.
My objective for this book was more to figure out how to do the actual regressions. To that end it was quite a good review of regression.
For readers that haven’t taken a basic stats course, the book would be a tough read without a deep education in Math. But as a next step up from Stat 1, this book is really quite good and highly recommended.
For me, finally learning about regression analysis 50 years after graduating with a math degree, it was the perfect elixir to smooth my ignorance of a very import statistical tool. -Tom L.
