The author's early classic of adolescent evil, The Voice of the Night, unites with The Mask (appearing in hardcover for the first time) and Strangers for a hair-raising collection of thrillers.
Acknowledged as "America's most popular suspense novelist" (Rolling Stone) and as one of today's most celebrated and successful writers, Dean Ray Koontz has earned the devotion of millions of readers around the world and the praise of critics everywhere for tales of character, mystery, and adventure that strike to the core of what it means to be human.
Dean, the author of many #1 New York Times bestsellers, lives in Southern California with his wife, Gerda, their golden retriever, Elsa, and the enduring spirit of their goldens, Trixie and Anna.
The first book, Strangers, starts off strong with enough hints that something happened, but then it just goes for the world’s longest marathon of How Long Can This Story Drag Out? The second book, The Voice of the Night, creeped me out. That one deserves four stars. The third book, The Mask, had the potential to be good, but then abruptly ended. No resolution whatsoever. I won’t state anymore than that.
I read 'The Mask'. It was enjoyable, but I felt like there should have been another chapter on the end!! It finished in a weird place that left too many things unresolved.
I've actually read only the second book, The Voice of the Night. In some ways it's some of the best of Koontz. In some ways it's some of the worse. Those who prefer the lighter banter style of Odd Thomas will not like this work. It's darker than most Koontz. ******Slight spoiler next.********* there is nothing really supernatural in this book, just the workings of evil. Glad I read, but not a must read.
I only read the Voice Of the night this time. It was a great read, but because it involved kids I found it disturbing on many levels. Colin's Mother was not a good Mother, and failed to believe him and help him. And Roy..well that is another story!
I liked the three stories. The first one took a little bit to get into. The second one was an easy read. The third one was an easy read but I didn't like the ending. It left you hanging.
