Okay, this story took me on a merry go round. A romance that would have you at the edge of your seat begging for the couple to let go of the past and come together finally.
Alero is in for revenge, Banju is in for love. Then, a switch and the reverse occurs … before you know it, you are diving into deep oceans and climbing high mountains with the rollercoaster of emotions that happen in their love story.
Their bonding over music is so beautifully done. Not in the annoying cliche way, but in an authentic way because Alero is a radio host. The secondary characters like Destiny made the story even more fun.
If you are looking for a romance novel with authentic Nigerian characters that would give you emotional hypertension, with a happy ending that makes the heart palpitations worth it, this book will do that for you.
Get it as soon as it’s released and make sure you have a glass of wine when reading. You’ll need it 😊

The two main characters were a great match. I liked how the author showed the melancholy of regret in one of the protagonists. Just when you thought everything was in a neat bow things changed. It also highlighted a lot of family issues and I like how the brothers came together and were open with each other. The sins of the father.... anyway great book. Looking forward to the next installment.

Whew! This book!!! Where do I begin?
When the book started, I already envisioned the drama and chemistry between our two main characters. But what I didn't prepare for was a deep love, the romance and the pain that comes with loving sometimes and finding it so early.
The story follows Alero and Bonju, who met at sixteen and coincidentally share the same birthday. But that is not the only thing they share. They shared a renowned passion for soul music set in the 80s and 90s, and above all, they shared a love that transcended the hurt and anger over an act of cowardice from Bonju that hung over them like a leper even after twenty years. It survived social status disparity and a type of foolishness I am yet to understand about love and oblivion. You could smell the love at their every encounter even when they were fighting.
This book captures other themes such as family drama between siblings from polygamous homes, company inheritance, polygamous marriages and their drama, work culture, financial investments, and high school and reunion shenanigans.
A lot of great scenes, but the best part was the rain. It did a number on my insides😍😍😍
The scene that got me cringing was Alero meeting Bonju's mother😨 If you know me you already know why.
I rate this book a whopping 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Of a truth , who would have thought, but the universe thought it sweet and lovely to gift Bonju his soulmate at that tender age. ( This got me all mushy.....I felt it on my insides when I read that line in the book🥰🥰😉)
🎀This story follows Bonju and Alero's winding path to love eventually after being apart for two decades. So many bridges and interjections, disparity in social status, hurt, betrayal, cowardice in Bonju's part, revenge plan....to a beginning of acceptance, moving on, forgiveness to LOVE...
🎀I love the themes explored in this book, family feud/dealing with polygamous situations, revenge/letting go. This was such a exhilarating read for me. I had my heart pumping whilst reading some particular scenes...😲😳.

Wonderful! Adesuwa keeps raising the bar! So I wasn’t particularly looking forward to Alero and Bonju’s story from the previous series, because I sorta felt there really wasn’t much there but boy was I wrong! Where do I start from: The plot was beautifully crafted and at a point I was shocked, like am I still reading the same book! Or is it each musically themed chapter that had the most awesome song mentions ever (yes I’m an old school gal too, and I practically read this book and had my pod in my ears listening to the music as well)?
At this point, I have absolutely no words. Adesuwa should keep giving me great stories back to back. I’m here for it!!! Great book for a hopeless romantic like me and in general for anyone that loves a good fiction. 🚀

As someone who is an unapologetic lover of the second chance romance. Better still make it young love. Yahhhh! This took me on a merry go round. I was at the edge of my sit wanting to shake Gbonjubola and Alero. Like Ahn ahn ! Please na! But really you can find the love of your life at the age of 16 it’s possible. It’s not fairytale and as an avid lover of music good music!Adesuwa took us on a ride to the 80’s and 90’s with this book and the playlist.

Quoting Maya Angelou…….. “ people will never forget how you made them feel...” I think Bonju thought that time had healed the wounds. Alero was still hurting! Very emotional and relatable story. The pain of loving someone and feeling betrayed is something out of this world. I totally understood Alero’s actions. But then Love Conquers!
This book touches on healing and forgiveness, and like in all relationships, we need to address the issues and seek solutions and not try to sweep them under the carpet. I hope that at the end of the cuddling and emotional journey that this book brings, we will LET GO. Well done!

Alero and Bonju's love story was as beautiful as it was chaotic 😂😂😂
I assumed that Bonju would be an unserious playboy who would magically be reformed by love. I loved the fact that Bonju was a wholesome man in his own right, he just made his money in an unconventional way.
I enjoyed reading it, I could relate with the struggle that comes with learning to trust again after a deep hurt. I wanted more romance, not sex. Bonju and Alero were always either fighting, having sex or trying to rebuild. I wanted more pages with sweet romantic nothings to feed my delusions. I didn't like the fact that the book ended immediately they reconciled. The epilogue was more of a prologue for the next book.

I liked both of them and I liked the book. Although I was annoyed with Bonju in the beginning, he never really apologised well and acknowledged everything, he just believed she will fall for him and everything will be ok. Then Alero own, choosing to do revenge. The back and front was sha so much that I will have called them toxic, they go from 0 to 100 like no man's business.
But honestly, I like the relatable nature of them, they break your heart and you want vengeance, she does nonsense and you run away. Adesuwa is a good story teller and I like this one from her

It was a good read.
Beautiful tale of first love gone wrong and how they found their way back together. I love how the emotions Alero felt was portrayed by the writer, the anger she felt, the bitterness and finally the love. It's a book of healing and Adesuwa conveyed the emotions both characters felt perfectly.

I'm soooo happy that Alero(Divine) is not like most FMCs in this author's books, she's smart and focused and I'm glad she go that revenge. This book is multilayered. I love that romance is the only focus of the book. The whole trying to sway people on the company's board in favour of Bonju, the mini clash between the borthers, the music and the radio station. I just love love everything about this book.
And the MCs stressed me ehn, they just kept going back and forth but it was sweet and annoying to read at the same time but still it was unnecessary and made it too long. I was rooting for Divine on the whole revenge thing but the push and pull, urghh

What a roller-coaster this one was and I savored every moment of it! I especially loved seeing familiar faces and places from the Bridesmaids series make an appearance. And that epilogue? My chest can’t handle it 🥲 On to the next!

I don't believe in "The One," but sometimes two people are just better suited for each other—and Bonju and Alero are proof of that.
Bonju and Alero's story has to be one of the most emotional love stories I've ever read—so much hate, so much distrust, so much of everything, and yet love still wants to thrive. Despite all the things both of them did to each other, love still conquered!
I have to say I did not like Alero. I hated that she let what happened two decades ago define her life and decisions. I hated that she chose to repay hurt with hurt. You don't get to gamble with other people's hearts for petty reasons! But... I also understood why she did what she did.
This book was an emotional rollercoaster, and honestly, I’m just so happy that Bonju and Alero found their way back to each other.

Alero & Bonju stressed me emotionally 😅 I was strictly Team Alero when the drama started & no excuse from Bonju was good enough. I initially found him to be somewhat naive, entitled, self absorbed & unempathetic. I found myself saying “thank God you know” to most of his thoughts. I wanted his revenge served on a plate of “Dracarys” even though we know Adesuwa is too much of a sweetheart to be a “Thanos”, BUT before I knew it, the hunter became the hunted, the villain became the victor, the wahala became the wahaleux…(Adesuwa, what did Bonju bribe you with? 😄). For me, this was Adesuwa’s most unpredictable love story yet & I absolutely enjoyed it. Have I mentioned how much Alero & Bonju stressed me? Gosh! They had me in my feelings; Emotions swinging like a pendulum, just when you recovered from one Gbas, you got a Gbos! At a point, I was prepared for any outcome…This book was a reminder that if you play with fire, you might also get burned, it was about patterns, self awareness or the lack thereof, the complications of polygamy, intentionality, never giving up & the fact that TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES 😍! I celebrate the genius that you are, Adesuwa. Your multifaceted nature reflected in your writing always blows my mind 🤩😍🙌🏽 Also, it’s the way you always know how to put the male outfits together (I can’t even relate 😅) I see the unisex stylist in you, Boo. As for the music in this book 😍🔥

Finally, there's an FMC who came correct!! 😂 I enjoyed this story so much! Welcome to another Malomo High Reunion Series book review, and we'd be talking about "A Betrayed Kind of Love." This is my favourite book in the series, so far. I hope the remaining stories beat this one, sha. 🫣
First off, reading Alero and Bonju's story brought back the nostalgia of reading Isioma and Karibi's. The back and forth was too much, though, but unlike Isioma and Karibi's that got me so annoyed, I enjoyed Bonju and Alero's. Their fights? So hilarious and interesting.
Alero was such a feisty woman. She is the main "No gree for anybody." 😂 I wish I have her type of heart. I love how she showed Bonju pepper, fr; I thought she wouldn't be able to bring herself to carry out the plan she had for him. Thank youuuu, Alero!! 😂 Although, the revenge was painful and I felt for her too.
Now, let's talk about Bonju... His growth, from being a boy to a man, was very commendable. Just like Alero, I disliked him from the beginning, but when I started reading about his doings, I fell oo. Omo, Bonju is a sweetheart, fr! He's also romantic, even strict babe, Alero, couldn't resist. Bonju is qualified to be a book boyfriend! 😍
This second chance romance story is the best I've read in a while. Do I believe in "first love" or "teenage love" being actual soulmates? No, but reading this book changed my view, in a way. This is a really beautiful story and I highly recommend it!!

A Betrayed Kind of Love
Before I review, let me put it out there that when I didn't get an ARC of A Betrayed Kind of Love, I was pretty sad. Adesuwa O'man Nwokedi left me to stew till the 23rd of December. And said me woke up by past three in the morning just to check if it had been released on Bambooks and maybe read a couple of chapters and head back to bed. Who was I kidding? Six hours later, I finished the book by past nine.
Now to the review.
First off, A Betrayed Kind of Love. Betray and love in my dictionary live on opposite ends of the street never meeting. Adesuwa showed me they could stumble upon each other at a reunion party.
Honestly, I'm torn about this one. The on and off gave my heart an emotional whiplash. Adesuwa, I'm coming for you with my therapist's bill.
Bonju wasn't what I expected. And Alero fell my hand with her whole revenge thing.
The book is really engaging and interesting. I loved how detailed Adesuwa was about the business part. She really nailed down the AGM.(New wig here😂).
I really loved the music reference. Though I couldn't relate to the songs. Except Everybody Wants to Rule the World which I heard from an ad on Cartoon Network when Mojo Jojo wanted to give up being a villain. Sorry, Gen Z here.
And how Chapter Twenty-five was titled Last Christmas and set in December was not lost on me. I loved it. Anyway, A Betrayed Kind of Love is a beautiful story though not my favorite in the series.

I re-read this, and i found myself wishing they just healed and moved on.
I so much loved the relationship younger Bonju and Alero had, the grown version not so much with them trying to hurt each other at every chance they got, it kinda became too much for me and i just thouught 'call this whole thing off and heal, SEPARATELY!!'. But of course, my lover girl found a way to bring them back together, i hope they eventually go on to get therapy as a couple because the badly need it!
