Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Attended New York University and graduated with a B.A. in 1963. Married in 1963, had three sons, divorced in 1976. Raised the sons, Andy, Brian and Curtis, alone in New Jersey. Worked for AT&T as a shareowner correspondent, then as an all-around assistant in a construction company, then sold bar steel for an import firm. Left that job as assistant sales manager. I've been writing full time since 1984.

Hobbies: knitting, crocheting, Tae Kwon Do, fencing, archery, shooting, jigsaw puzzles, logic problems, math problems, not cooking.

Don't do my own research, since if I did I'd stay with that and never get any writing done. I usually can finish a novel of about 120,000 words in about three months.

Jilin is unhappy about being on Rimilia but her and Vennias somewhat work together. They meet up with other bands of warriors( l'lendaa) to go and fight the Revanna. Jil has to show the leaders of the different groups that she is indeed a warrior. She also teaches new fighting methods to several warriors who want to learn. They eventually complete their mission. Jilin and Vennias have another argument at the end and while he leaves the room for a minute she leaves the camp. While riding her seetar back to the community she meets her team that have come looking for her. I would actually give it 3 and a half stars.

Think of this one as the Rimilian interlude - we are there from the beginning to the end but I have the feeling we are soon going to be leaving again.

I kind of feel like this one kind of suffered from a lack of editing. It is very well-written, the formatting is no issue, but the story just lacks any sort of drama at all. Jilin may be a strange visitor from another planet but you start to wonder if that planet isn't actually Krypton. There just isn't any real danger anywhere. Every time she runs into a problem she either handles it or develops a new ability that allows her to handle it. I did start to wonder if "yahoo" was a placeholder that didn't get changed during the search and replace.

The Revenas takedown was going to happen after what we learned. But I was really looking forward to the Hamarda. It was a bit disappointing when it was a bunch of losers we had never seen before though. I am hoping this means that Tammad and Kednin had had a little discussion - or better yet, Terry and Kednin.

All the talking of Bonding sent me back to Book 1 to read what exactly happened. She did react pretty strongly but at the time it seemed like it was just one of those l'lenda mind tricks. I think that Vennias has pretty much done everything he can to make up for the stupid things he did at the beginning - I can't imagine he thinks he will ever see Jilin in an imad and caldin again - but the Bond is going to have to be broken somehow before she will fully learn to trust him. Although I would think he might want to cut down on the threats of switching.

Halfway through - and still a long way to go.

Struggles With Feelings and War

Jilin ends up on Rimilia despite her wishes. She is involved with stopping three different groups of Rimilians who are using their abilities to enslave or attack others. Her struggles with Vennias continues with both of them gaining insight but still unable to resolve their differences.

Good book. Unhealthy relationship between him and her. Her interaction with the team and experiences are interesting.
