When I saw Accelerator alone on the cover, I knew it would be a great book, and it was exactly what I had thought.

It's easily the best book of the series until now.

At first, I was a bit confused by the quantity of new characters and factions revealed in the book, but with the help of the anime, I could understand perfectly some aspects of the plot that passed by.

I'll hope the next books keeps the quality of this one.

Having Accelerator and Hamazura as the protagonists in this volume was refreshing. As someone who prefers the Academy City stuff as well, I definitely enjoyed this volume a lot because of the different underground groups working behind the scenes, and how Accelerator and Hamazura's lives were affected by the existence of such groups. I think I would have liked to see more about the individual groups (GROUP, ITEM, SCHOOL, MEMBER and BLOCK) because I feel like they each had a lot of potential in bringing trouble for their respective motives, so having most of them killed off by the end of the volume was rather saddening. However, I think it was really nice to see more of Academy City's Level 5s such as Kakine (who hates Accelerator and wants to take over his place as 1st to negotiate with Aleister for some reason), and Mugino who is straight up crazy and insane lol. Honestly Mugino's arrogance and selfishness was quite scary, especially when she killed Frenda, so I was pretty happy when Hamazura beat her to the ground because of how much she underestimated him.

The attempted sniper shooting on Oyafune in the beginning of the volume was interesting because it was nice to see that underneath everything we have seen, there are people dissatisfied with how the directors are handling Academy City's methods of doing things, and it was nice to see that Tsuchimikado honestly feels that Oyafune is one of the few people he actually believes and trusts that is actually working for the good of Academy City. I also like how similar in a sense Accelerator and Tsuchimikado is, especially when they both reacted similarly at seeing their most important people in the crowd (where the shooting was going to take place). What I really enjoyed from this volume was how Musujime and Unabara's characters were much more fleshed out and it was also great to see more of their abilities in use. I feel like considering Musujime's reasons for being in GROUP is similar to Accelerator and Tsuchimikado, Unabara's is probably the same, and that the whole of GROUP probably operate in a similar way to Accelerator, in that they be the "bad guys" to protect the people they want to protect.

I also really enjoyed Hamazura's and Takitsubo's relationship. It was really simple and straightforward where Takitsubo was just a really nice person that believed that since she should be the one to protect Hamazura and let him escape because she was "stronger" than him, and Hamazura was touched that she was willing to risk sacrificing herself for a Level 0 random she barely knew. I think the way it was portrayed really showcased their personalities rather well and made it apparent that although we don't know why Takitsubo is in ITEM, she obviously cares about others regardless of who they are, and that also she's rather manipulated in the sense that she has to make some sort of drugs to activate her powers better, and it's obviously affecting her body quite a bit. I liked how although Hamazura can be seen as just "a guy in the wrong crowd" etc, but I think he takes responsibility for his choices even if they're wrong, and he does his best according to his beliefs.

Initially, I thought Kakine was an all right guy because he didn't bother killing Hamazura etc, but when he completely crazily beat up Uiharu for hiding where Last Order was (since she thought he was dangerous), I was so mad and disgusted with him. His idea of being ruthless to "enemies" is just so loose in that basically any person who gets in his way is an "enemy" is just disgusting and I'll never like him even if he supposedly considered "kind" to innocents, which I really can't see, since when he fought against Accelerator, he had no care for his surroundings and it was Accelerator who had to take care that no one was hurt in the vicinity. When Yomikawa was stabbed by Kakine, I could really feel Accelerator's rage, because I felt the same. Yomikawa has worked hard risking her life for the children in Academy City everyday and always believing in the good in them, so seeing a person like that who exemplifies the good in the darkness of Academy City, I'm not surprised that Accelerator went berserk, especially since he considers Yomikawa as one of the important people he must protect (just not as much as Last Order!). Although it was cliche, I really loved how Last Order was the one who was able to stop Accelerator from going on a rampage because no matter how "berserk" he is, everything stems from his desire to protect Last Order and it was understandable for him to stop because of her.

Overall, I really enjoyed the different groups' fights and motives throughout, and really appreciated the extra character background for Musujime and Unabara. As always, with Accelerator as the protagonist, it's always fun, interesting and relatively heartwarming, so definitely a great volume through and through.

Realmente fue sorprendente la cantidad de cosas que se integran en este volumen, así como la calidad de contenido respecto al desarrollo de personajes que quizás no pensé que llegaran a ser importantes y que incluso resaltaron más que los principales.
