Ian has been going to Key West every summer for years, helping his Uncle Gord at his dive shop and spending as much time as he can underwater. When he's not scuba diving, he's admiring Sherri, the girl who works at the dive shop, and wondering how she would feel if he told her that he tastes blackberries whenever he sees her. A series of accidents leads Ian to believe that his uncle is in grave danger, but the truth is more complicated and terrifying than he could ever have imagined.

Absolute Pressure by Sigmund Brouwer is a great book. I liked how interesting the book was. The book is about a boy named Ian who lives with his mom but in the summer goes to his Uncle Gordon. Ian’s dad wasn’t in the picture because he had faked his death to go be with another woman. Ian’s mom was never the same after that. Ian loves to scuba dive and he likes working in his Uncle Gordon’s diving shop. Ian likes this girl named Sherri and he isn’t sure if she likes him back.

In the beginning, Ian is scuba diving to put treasure in a fake ship to get more people to come dive because business was horrible but something bad happens to Ian. Ian’s tank of air got messed with and he started freaking out because he couldn’t breathe so he had to swim all the way back up without breathing and he almost passed out. Later on, he finds out the tank of air was broken and he finds out some horrible things about his uncle. I liked this book. I read the book in like two hours it was that good. I recommended this book to anyone who reads books fast.

Ian experiences more excitement in one week of scuba diving than most people ever experience in a lifetime. First the pressure valve on his tank breaks while he's 93 feet underwater, leaving him desperate to breathe, but unable to surface quickly. Then the floats on his shark cage come off while a gigantic bull shark is attacking it. It doesn't seem like these events are accidents, but everyone is acting suspicious. Why would someone want Ian or his uncle Gord dead, and what's going to happen next? This quick read (RL3.2) has intense moments of suspense interspersed with (lengthy expository lumps) lots of information about diving and Florida's Key West. I think students may like this book more than I did.

The book I read Absolute Pressure, by Sigmud Beouwer was an okay book. This book is about scuba divers. It's intense at points. This book caught my attention most when Ian was in the cage in the water surrounded by sharks. The cage that Ian was in started to sink and a huge shark came closer and closer inside the cage... This book caught my attention but then I found myself dazing away. The suspenseful parts were good. When there was nothing suspenseful it was very boring just reading about people talking back and forth. As a kid if somebody were to ask a good book to read I would not say this as my top pick.

ho boy. First of all, don't let the fact that there's 159 pages fool you. It took me a good 40 minutes to read (I know 159 pages isn't very long, but Animal Farm took me more time to read and it's shorter). I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing... I'm kind of neutral about this book. There's a lot of action, and a lot of suspense, and it moves quickly, but that was it. I started it, and then I finished it. So yeah, second 3 star reveiw in a row.

I enjoyed this book a lot because it was very suspensful and interesting. I liked how there were many turning points in the book and I thought it was interesting to read the vivid descriptions of the character in the deep water. I would definately reccomend this book to a friend.
