L'autrice non so.

Junjou Romantica 4, 5, 5.5:

They're both so pure and innocent and most of all, honest. I love it a lot. I've been reading so much yaoi lately where there's some mental illness afflicting SOMETHING or SOMEONE or EVERYONE involved in the romance, but these two are just so honest and wholesome. And to see how much they rely on each other from only two months of being together, it's precious. Misaki might be in denial but he's nowhere near the level of denial that Onodera is in [from Nakamura's other work, Sekai ichi Hatsukoi].
It's funny. This is my first time reading these moments in manga form (I never got this far in the scanlations before), but my millionth (actually somewhere between 4th or 6th) time experiencing the moments themselves because of how many times I've watched the anime and all that. And yet, just like with Sekai ichi Hatsukoi, I've surprised myself by how new and differently I see everything now that I've changed so much and come back to it again.
I can still remember my impressions and take aways from before and my impression and take aways are different now than they were back then, merely because I see the world different now, I've had many more experiences. I'll probably come back to this yet again someday in the future and say the same thing yet again. I really love that about Nakamura's works. I can continue coming on back to them a million times and see them in a new light that helps me either appreciate them more or merely different, instead of just boring me like some works have done.

Also, is Usagi a closet uke? I've asked myself that a couple times with how expressive, gentle, sensitive, and heartfelt he is and I came to the conclusion that no-- he might be a switch, honestly, and just keeps attracting all the ukes (me, hahaha...), but I think he's just truly that honest and transparent, most of all with Misaki. And Misaki is just as honest and transparent with him in a tsundere way, and they both know it. Usually.
Something else just of note to myself really that a certain scene had me thinking about that I don't want to forget. The blunt and straightforward behavior that Usagi exhibits (evident when Misaki is like, he can't possibly be Japanese! No Japanese would ever be so shameless/straightforward!) I think that's a behavior that even in real life, causes people to feel an almost immediate and strong attraction to said blunt person. It's usually infatuation, but it can at times be or become love. On that note, I think that Usagi and Misaki compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses splendidly. They're growing together, and it's a wholesomely wonderful thing to see.
Oh, and another thing I love about Junjo is how deep it gets. For example when we learn why Misaki acts the way he does and yet why he never talks about it. It didn't feel blindly thrown in either, it was perfectly placed. I really appreciate sensei's work. I also feel like I understand Usagi far better these days than I ever had before in the past twelve years of being a Junjou fan. I actually even relate to him quite a bit, and where I don't relate, I aspire to be more similar to (mostly).

P.S. These chapters helped me conclude that as I am right now, I don't think I could live on my own. I need someone who helps take care of me with all the little things at home, like Misaki does for Usagi. It's not that I'm entirely incapable, as he isn't either... But I would not fair well, and I would *certainly* not find balance with it and all my other responsibilities I tend to shrug off 'til past the deadline... Oh, dear... I truly *am* Usagi...
Ah, yes, and that post script. So cute. I love all the little flashbacks of Usagi and Takahiro together, especially them fretting over little Misaki and Usagi's impression of him as a kid.

Junjou Egoist 6 & 7:

Dare I say-- manga exclusive content?! Who is Shinoda and why is he so familiar? A lot of these are things established in the anime, parts of it even taken and used in the anime, I think. But we never got this much backstory nor Shinoda! I think? Also, the chapter where Nowaki got sick and then Hiro got sick was super, duper cute. It's precious how all Hiro could bear was for Nowaki to hold his hand and nothing more than that. Just the tiny, intimate moments like that are enough to fill my heart. Because they're so simple and small and yet they mean so much and pack so much feeling and meaning behind every little action that is both obvious and yet also not.
Oh yeah-- and I gotta add, college student Hiro-san is so cute! Aww!

**1st read (10/15)**

Life making decisions for Misaki. And major turning point in his relationship with Usagi. Mr tsundere is finally warming up, and Misaki finally admitting to himself that maybe he is gay.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

I really enjoyed volume three of this series, it's my favorite so far. Poor Misaki is still having a hard time accepting that he has feelings for Akihiko. There are a number of reasons for this but the biggest one can be summed up when he said "I still can't give up thinking (wanting to think) that I'm not gay (maybe)." I don't know everything about his past but he never mentioned having a girlfriend before and he even stated in act 4 that he'd never been on a date. He did, however, say that until he met Akihiko he had lived his 18 years "as a regular man" and I take that to mean that he had only been attracted to girls/women. He's probably really confused as to why all of a sudden he's attracted to Akihiko. Maybe in the back of his mind he's thinking that it had to do with what happened when he first met Akihiko in his apartment; that somehow that act perverted him in some way (Yikes!).

Now regardless of how his attraction arose, it's here now and he is having a major issue with the whole gay label thing. Honestly, he is putting way too much pressure on himself. So what if he's never been attracted to a man before. He is now, so, does that immediately take him from being straight to being gay? And why does the label even matter so much to him? It seems a little silly. He obviously cares a lot about Akihiko and goes out of his way to defend him whenever anyone says anything negative about him. When he had the opportunity to move back in with his brother he didn't want to. He wanted to stay with his lover, even as he refuses to name him as such.

The two Junjo Egoist stories were very good. Nowaki is so sweet, I swear I love him more and more with every story I read involving him. Hiroki is lucky to have him and he knows it. This makes me very happy because I know, at least for the time being, he won't take him for granted. The second story, act 7, was particularly interesting because it introduced a character that wasn't in the anime, Shinoda. I can't wait to see what ended up happening between him and Hiroki. Something he said really struck me. After asking Hiroki to go out with him he said "I like a partner full of pride who I can crush and make it so that he can't live without me. After all, types like you want that, deep inside. Because you're a coward who always acts tough for fear of having someone finally break through his shell." He was right. That's exactly how Hiroki felt and exactly what Hiroki wanted but it needed to be from someone who did it without knowing they were doing it; someone who would never use the term "crush" like that. Shinoda never had a chance, thank God.

The stories are building nicely upon each other, the drawings have slightly improved since the first volume, and the sex scenes are becoming more discernable, if that makes sense. I'm ready for volume 4 :)

I haven't been this excited about a manga series in a very long time. About three storylines are happening at once, and each pairing is unique and exciting. Each pairing will bring you tears of sorrow and joy at some point during the reading adventure. Something I did not expect was how much I enjoyed the art in this manga. The panels were all very well utilized; the story moves in a gentle flow that keeps you floating through the pages until you hit the end!

AMO AMO AMOOOOOO, soy tan feliz leyendo 🥹

This volume was better then the last and it left on a cliff hanger.
I am still unsure if I will continue the series to entirety but I am planning on reading the 4th volume and then see where that takes me.

I wish this manga series only had one story instead of two. I prefer the main story and could use a few more pages instead of the side story. Otherwise, it was a fine read, and I will continue the series.

i think bc it’s been 2 yrs since i re-read the 1st 2 volumes, the unpleasant rapey after-taste isn’t as fresh in my mind so i was able to enjoy vol 3. misaki be the cutest boy ever yall. their facial expressions be out of wack and hilarious, and i love the mix between comedy and straight in the feels.

more of the egoist guys, never a bad thing. how long have they been together now? lol

definitely looking forward to vol 4.
