Rhys turned to writing children’s books under her married name, Janet Quin-Harkin. Her first picture book was an immediate success and won several awards. More picture books followed, then her agent asked her to write a book for young adults. This was a turning point in Rhys’s career. Her first young adult novel was an instant hit. I just love this series so much! I was afraid that with age, I wasn't be able to like them the way I did more than 10 years ago, but I felt like I was reading something so familiar, so close to what I've always liked in books!
I must say: I cried like a baby at the end. Janet Quin-Harkin knows how to make me cry. I can't wait to read another of her books - and the others of this series.
