In focus groups, online polling, and one-on-one discussion, Transit Books has found that the number one reason teens don’t read the Bible is that it is "too big and freaky looking." Teen girls feel comfortable exploring the Scriptures in the New Century Version and over 500 further-study notes because of the relevant language and format!

The Revolve editions of the New Testament are written in a magazine style for teenage girls. I read this in Middle School and it was the first time I really connected with any of the stories from the Bible. I was definitely struck throughout the New Testament about Jesus’ teachings on love and kindness. I used to go through and put post it notes on the pages depicting instances where he dealt with hatred/bullying, and there were a lot of them. Looking back on the New Testament years later, and this version in particular, I think that many things about it are harmful. This version is specifically catering towards young impressionable girls. The “advice” and little inserts throughout are desperate to be relatable but are really just enforcing toxic positivity, cisgender/heterosexual norms, and even misogyny. Stories about Jesus are often written in undertones that have a superiority complex encouraging people to “turn the other cheek” instead of facing potential trauma or abuse in a way that actually works in modern society and in real relationships. Things were much different in 2003, however I’m definitely glad to see this is no longer in print because of the damage this can cause to young people.
The first Bible I read and understood. This edition allowed me to process what I had been taught in church and ultimately led to me accepting Christ as a confused, wayward teen. I am deeply thankful for this easy to read and engaging copy of The Bible and recommend it to any teen who is looking for a fresh take on one of the world's dearest and oldest texts.
Actually didn't read the entire thing because I got me a new Bible and want to continue my reading in it. Partially because it is a large print and I have some trouble in reading this one as far as seeing it.....changing over to The Message Bible.
A really helpful modern English translation of ancient texts. This will give the casual enquirer a helpful introduction to the (very readable) basis of Christian faith, but it is not be enough for those who want to see them in the wider context that can be got from a complete Bible.
