Another Dream

Rate this book
Out of print, but a new edition of this story, completely rewritten from the ground up, and titled "Dreams Are for Real," will be coming soon in the Dream On series.

When a shy, virgin erotica writer with a tool belt fetish crosses paths with an outgoing carpenter, the fireworks soar. Introverted Larry has an active imagination, and Marty is just the man to draw him out of his shell. When circumstances send the boys on a road trip together, they start to get to know each other, and they like what they see. The problem is that Larry worries about the motivation behind his feelings, while Marty's tired of the single life. He's ready to settle down and has been looking for Mr. Right. Will opposites attract and make their dreams come true, or will Larry's insecurities keep him from seizing love?

This is a lovely story of two different men, one a construction worker and the other a writer, and their journey from friendship to love. Marty is 38 years old and has been on his own for 20 years. He's got a job he loves and great friends he hangs out with and although his life is great lately he's been thinking about what else could be out there for him besides the "fun bachelor life" he leads.

Larry's 29, painfully shy and socially awkward, he writes gay erotic stories due more to his active imagination than actual experience. When Larry moves into the apartment building Marty lives in they're immediately attracted to each other. Marty takes the younger man under his wing, seeing that Larry has no social life he takes him out to his favorite club and introduces him to his friends.

As their friendship grows Marty and Larry discover that even though they appear to be very different from each other they actually have a lot in common. Marty opens up to Larry about his life and family issues and with Larry's encouragement takes steps to deal with past mistakes. Their developing relationship is tested with out of town trips and family meetings but the growing love between and their ability to talk, and sometimes playfully act out, with each other helps them deal with everything that comes their way. The sex scenes in the book are hot and it was fun to read about Larry's "kink" for Marty's tool belt and the fun they had with the stories Larry wrote.

I liked this book. It's a well-written and amusing story with a simple plot and engaging characters, including the secondary characters. This book is set in the same world as A Dream Come True although it can be read as a standalone and it was nice to see Wes and Mike again. Overall I found this sweet and tender love story very enjoyable.

This book was truly better than the first. The contents gave more of what I look forward to reading about in a story. I have to give this a thumbs up. Larry's shyness was endearing and he took a piece of my heart with him and Marty was his perfect match in bringing Larry out of his cocooned shell. Well done!

A lovely story. This is actually the sequel to 'A Dream Come True" and is written in a similar style. It is the story of Marty the longlost brother/uncle we hear about at the end of ADCT.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, but there is no angst for those who like that in their romance.

Okay, I admit it... I am just so easy! There isn't much in this genre that I don't like and let me proudly say... I love mushy, feel-good stories, which is exactly what this one is! So, if you are looking for an angsty, fight to the bitter end story? This one ain't for you!

Remember, they don't call it fiction for nothing! Do relationships really happen like Marty and Larry's did? Sure... just not very often! I loved the fact that Marty helped Larry to slowly work his way into the life that he desired so much but was just too shy to go for it! And, don't think Marty was just doing Larry a favor... Larry was just the man that Marty had been searching for over 20 years for!

The reunion with Marty's family was totally great, especially since we got to meet up with Wes and Mike again!!! I am looking forward to reading Trevor's story in Dreaming of You!

I loved this book a lot. It was such a touching sweet story.

I liked the main characters and I especially liked that there was no drama. All conflicts came from misunderstandings that got cleared up with a little conversation.

I really like the way Marty and Larry just fit. It comes so very naturally to them. They are friends and partners and they know the other. I liked the inclussion of the families and their reactions to the relationship. And I really liked the sex. Though not as much as they did, I'm sure.

I really liked this story, even if some of it was a bit hard to swallow. I love geeky nerds with (and without) glasses. I love the shy guys who usually stumble into love. That Marty isn't geeky or nerdy or shy isn't so bad. He's the brawn and push to Larry's imagination and reticence.

angst free. Lovely to meet Marty. What a lovely family. It's always a great pleasure to read books with a supporting family.
