I thought this was a really good intro book to caring for corn & rat snakes. Interesting and lots of pictures. The chapters are clearly laid out and the book was simply written although not dumbed (I know that's not a word) down - one snake is described as having a pugnacious attitude. There's a chapter about breeding and it goes to great detail about pre-breeding conditioning of the female and what/when she should eat and what vitamins you should dust her food with and brumation but then there's a little side note that says that if you keep male and female snakes together you're sure to get eggs whether you want them or not. So much for having to do all that pre-breeding conditioning.
My complaint about this book is that it's not bound very well. I was pretty careful with it (it's a borrowed book) but still, great chunks of pages detached from the binding.

Very useful book, and a great guide to have in my house for a quick reference. I would recommend reading this book before buying/bringing your corn snake home!
