How often have you found yourself talking wistfully with friends of relocating to the country, as if it will offer a magical answer to everything wrong with city living Most of these assumptions are based on memories of blissful weekends spent in a round of cream teas and blazing log fires.
A fairly amusing account of a woman's move to the country from her house in London. I did get the feeling sometimes that the woman was being rather snotty about the countryside, and putting down the very people who have lived their whole life there, but nevertheless there were some amusing moments, and overall the book was fun to read. If anything, it made me want to live in the country and never venture into London again!
A good 3. Having moved to Shropshire from Hampshire it was relatable. That’s what made it fun to read. It was more like a headline witty blog than a novel. Recommend to those wanting to move to the countryside from a busy town. I’ve mentioned this book to our book club for a future read.
