I like this series. It's like a teens first experience of real adult themes in fiction like COCAINE and CHILD MURDER and DIABETES.

The book Rat-Catcher was one of my favorite in this series. In this book, Alpha Force travels to South Africa for a vacation. But what they soon find out is that there is a major drug dealer and kidnapper lurking in the streets. As Paulo goes undercover as a homeless child he meets a girl named Eliza who lost her brother to the kidnapper. Soon Eliza gets abducted and Paulo decides to go with her, so the Alpha Force has to save Paulo as well as stop the drug dealer. Soon they finally get the evidence they need to take down the drug dealer and the police takes him down. But Paulo is still in the hands of the kidnapper and they have to save him. But Paulo escapes with Eliza and he brings Eliza to an orphanage where she is now safe.

These books are so fast paced and exhilarating to read. You can really fly through them in hours and I love how you can pick up tips and tricks to survival from these books too.

(I totally still ship Hex and Amber together even after all these years and I love their small moments together 😍)

My first memory of reading, had my younger self hooked! Great read for children as it is captivating but doesn't deal with too harsh subject

The second book in the Alpha Force series 'Rat Catcher' is a great story which takes Alpha Force to South America where they find themselves only seconds from death in the mountains of Chile.

The story has many twists and turns. The team encounter both a dangerous drugs dealer and a young street boy who they learn to trust and who is able to help rescue them when they find themselves in trouble.

This amazing book is full of tension and suspense. I couldn't put it down.

Verdict: Great for those who love an action packed story.

The Rat Catcher by Chris Ryan was an Ok book. Defiantly not a book that had me reading for hours into the night. I just read it because I did not want to abandon it. The only time I got glued to the book was when the kids where in danger. I guess one of the reasons I didn't like the book very much was because I prefer realistic fiction. Some parts where realistic, but other parts where not at all realistic. The characters where not very realistic. What uncle would let a group of kids free climb up the side of a mountain?!

I loved this book. It was filled with non-stop action and multiple fight scenes and bad situations which Alpha Force has to overcome. I love the unique plot. It is not a play off of other stories, it is completely unique. This book is extremely hard to put down. A downside to this book though is that it is only for a small group of interest. Anyone who loves SAS or military evasions book will thoroughly enjoy this book, but most others will not.
