World class klutzoid,, Wally McDoogle, and his buddies, Opera and Wall Street win the Gazillion Dollar Lotto! Everything is great!!! . . .for a total of 1.3 seconds. That's how long before their greed kicks in. Add some bungling bad guys, a break-in to the local zoo (where Wally has lost the ticket), the accidental release of all the animals, a SWAT team or two. . . And you have the usual McDoogle mayhem as our boy blunder leers the dangers of both greed and materialism.
Bill Myers was born into a Christian home, and although as a child he became bored with Christianity, he decided at the University of Washington quote, to "make God my boss." Ironically, at the University his worst subject was writing. He claims to have prayed, and said that he would be able to do anything for God, except write. Even so, he has become a prominent Christian writer, and has a large amount of successful books and films to his credit.
What a weird book. Apparently these books were very popular in some Christian circles, but not in the ones I grew up in, so this was my first introduction. Whoopee! I probably don't need to read more books in this series, as I found the protagonists penchant for disaster to be a bit too over-the-top for an enjoyable reading experience. I can see why these could be popular among young readers though.
So funny-in fact, it was hysterical! This book is one of the funniest books that Bill Myers has read! I recommend this book to kids ages 6-12. Actually, antone 6+ can read it! Keep on writing, Bill Myers!
