Little ones can end their day with this beautifully illustrated collection of bedtime nursery rhymes and soothing lullabies. Star Light, Star Bright, Rock-a-bye, Baby and other well-known bedtime rhymes will bring a sense of comfort and rest.
This baby board book has over a dozen familiar bedtime rhymes, including "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star", "Jack Be Nimble", "Wee Willie Winkie", "Hush, Little Baby", and "Diddle Diddle Dumpling." There is one especially sweet poem that I had never heard before called "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear." The teddy bear touches their nose, touches their toes, turns around, turns out the light, and says good night. It's adorable!
The best thing about this book is the beautiful illustrations in soft pastel colors and a simple style. The drawings are so cute! I loved the designs of each little character snuggling in bed, sailing through the night sky, or being rocked to sleep by the moon.
This is the perfect way to share these famous bedtime poems with a new generation of babies and toddlers. The illustrations are sure to grab the attention of any young readers, and the rhyming text is soothing and sweet. Perfect for bedtime!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a free and honest review. All the opinions stated here are my own true thoughts, and are not influenced by anyone.
This book had the classic twinkle twinkle little star which is the poem I took from it. But, there were other poems in here as well. Overall it is a great book with a couple different rhymes that are all enjoyable to read and to read to children as well.
TWINKLE, TWINKLE, LITTLE STAR is a large collection of nursery rhymes and lullabies. The book features one or two rhymes with an accompanying illustration on each page. It includes many I was already familiar with, such as the title song, Rock-a-Bye, Baby, Hush, Little Baby, Jack Be Nimble, and others. It also includes some of which I have never heard before.
What I loved: This is a fun collection that young children will enjoy, especially when sung. The illustrations are cartoonish and full of bright colors, which also holds appeal. The font is clear, and so it is easy to read.
What left me wanting more: As a small point, I was not expecting religious tones to some of the rhymes, which talk about praying, angels, God, and Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are subtly religious, but may be a surprise to some caregivers who may not be Christian (though praying could be more universal of a concept).
Final verdict: Overall, this is a fun collection of rhymes and songs, accompanied by whimsically delightful and brightly colored illustrations. Children will enjoy singing along with their parents as they work their way through the book.
Please note that I received a review copy. All opinions are my own.
This is a book full of classic nursery rhymes that most kids know and love! For example, "Jack Be Nimble" is a famous nursery rhyme that is actually taught in kindergarten at the school I work at.
I think this is a wonderful book for parents to read to their children before bedtime because it aids with memory. Hearing poems and songs and remembering them can be very helpful to children as they start to attend school. Besides that, they are enjoyable for kids; they can put their minds to rest before falling asleep.
The illustrations are excellent in this book. They are very simple, which enables children to focus on the actual nursery rhyme. The illustrations are also very animated, almost like a television show, which we know children love.
Overall, I think all parents should read to their children and this would be a wonderful book to start with.
This book is a full of nursery rhymes, like twinkle, twinkle little star. The rhymes in this collection are great to read before bedtime.
I enjoyed the rhymes that were included in the book. I also like that the book was made durable with rounded corners which i perfect for younger readers. Lastly, I enjoyed the fact these rhymes were picked specifically for bedtime.
This book would be great in a Pre-K or K class where the students still take naps. This book might be a good way to help restless children fall asleep. There is also a sing-songy quality to the nursery rhymes so once the children have heard the book enough times we could start using those rhymes at circle time or music.
The book "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" written by Jasmit Wallia is a short revenge story with full of romance and suspence. I liked it as no part of this book is boring .This book is full of entertainment. This book will engage you till the end. The story is of a little girl Kiara who is sixteen years old teenager is on a mission for vengeance against her father who is responsible for her mother's death. Once you read this book you will be able to know more about this book. The language is easy and cover of book is attractive. So what are you waiting for just go and grab it.
Awards: none Grade Level: Pre K-1 Summary: This short story tells the description of a twinkling star and its journey in the sky. Review: This rhyming lullaby will help children learn phonetics. In class activities: This story can be used to teach phonetics to children. Also, this can be used to teach about rhyming words and can be used to brainstorm categories of rhyming words.
All 3 of my kids have gone through phases of loving this one. Overall, a good collection of classic rhymes, with appealing pictures. My one quibble is that I wish the “Boys and Girls Come Out to Play” rhyme hadn’t been included. I usually skip it, because after all those relaxing, winding down rhymes, I do not want my kids getting the idea that they can ditch bedtime to go play outside!
I didn't win this book on GoodReads First Reads. I bought this book to read to my grandson who is two and a half years old. He really seemed to enjoy the rhymes in this book and I am hoping that he will learn them the more I read them to him. All-in-all this is a really sweet book.
A sweet book, though it didn't add anything new to our repertoire. A few word changes were included to, I assume, "update" the rhymes, but I prefer the traditional verses.
This is mostly great. I feel like I should be reading my boys to sleep, but at their age, they don't exactly follow along with the stories. I would sing to them more, but I tend to forget the lyrics to songs. This collection of nursery rhymes hits the spot -- I read the book to them, hopefully setting the state for much book-reading to follow, but as I do, I sing the songs. I don't forget the lyrics, because they're right there.
Two quibbles that prevent this from being a 5-star book. *There's no indication of the tune. I guess I'm not looking for a score, but some indication of how the song is to be sung would be preferable. *Some of the songs are ridiculously short. I guess there's not much you can do if "Jack Be Nimble" only has 4 lines, but I would have preferred more long rhymes.
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Other Favorite Bedtime Rhymes includes seventeen nursery rhymes to be read or sung at bedtime. The illustrations are sweet and charming, done in soft pastels and showing cute, round-faced characters. Most of the rhymes are fairly short, with a few longer rhymes included like “Hush, Little Baby” and “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear.” This is a perfect book for new parents that don’t remember or do not yet know the words to many popular nursery rhymes. Its soft padded cover, rounded corners, and sturdy board book pages are perfect for little hands, and will surely last through years of bedtime reading.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and other Favourite Bedtime Stories is beautiful illustrated with bright colors and simple pictures for little readers. I like the mixture of all-time classics with rhymes that I was introduced to in this book. My daughter (not yet two) sits through this whole book and gazes at the illustrations until the very end. The catchy rhymes keep her entertained, and I notice that she has her favourite already. This is a great book for little ones who love the sing-song tune of rhymes as well as colorful pages.
I wouldn't buy this book, maybe check it out from the library. I don't like nursery rhymes in general because they're about horrid things or are just plain weird. The illustrations are this book's saving grace.
Good illustrations perfect for my new little talker... but these are the old rhymes that aren't very PC... (ex: rock a bye baby... down will come baby, cradle in all)
