Hard Candy is a three story anthology written by one of my favorite authors, Amanda Young. All three stories are some of my favorite homoerotic romances, and I reread them on a regular basis.
In the first story, Man Candy, most things are working out for Aaron Samuels. He just graduated with a degree in Horticulture, and has landed a management job at a local home improvement center. Although he is glad his menu at home will no longer be pop-tarts and Ramen noodles, he is sad to leave his assistant job for the last few years...okay maybe not the job itself, but his very sexy boss Logan Ramora.
Aaron has had unrequited feelings for Logan since they first met. But, Logan has always been unobtainable, and also to Aaron's knowledge; straight and married, so Aaron believes there will be no future for them whatsoever.
When Logan finds out that Aaron will not be his personal assistant any longer he seems to be disappointed, but takes it in stride. This bothers Aaron somewhat, but Aaron is ready to start a new life, and try to forget the way he feels about Logan who has always been the man of his dreams.
Logan Ramora has been living a lie. For years he has been firmly in the closet. Not willing to live that way any longer, he has been separated from his wife, and now divorced for over a year. He has been very attached to Aaron, but thinks he never has had the opportunity to let his feelings show. Now that Aaron is leaving, he must speak out or lose the love of his life.
I really enjoyed this book! Aaron definitely deserves to get his man and to find happiness in the end. This was a very fast paced read, and I loved every minute of it!
The second story is called Candy Man, where we are able to get a glimpse of Logan and Aaron in their new life together. It gives us a funny and sexy look into Logan and Aaron's relationship at Halloween.
If you are like me...I love to read about the characters after the story ends. I am always wondering how things turn out, and with Candy Man I got too!
In the last story, Eye Candy, Jake Ramora has a reputation of for being a bad boy. His love 'em and leave 'em attitude has been the crutch he has needed to keep the wall he has carefully built around his heart intact. Even with his careless attitude and flirty ways it’s obvious he is keeping a deep hurt and betrayal that he can't seem to get over. Just when things seem to be going his way professionally, he runs into his teenaged first love and best friend Kane Sharp moves back into town, Jake is suddenly faced with dealing with his demons and past betrayal.
Kane Sharp knows he must right the wrongs he has put upon Jake. He knew when he ran into Jake again, that the old feelings and attraction he and Jake had for one another would once again blossom. He hopes that Jake will not only stop running from the past, but be able to find forgiveness in his heart.
I don't want to give up too much on the storyline. You will definitely understand why Jake is so hurt and afraid to let anyone into his heart again. On the other hand, it is also easy to understand Kane's side of the story. Often when we are young we make many mistakes and wrong decisions. Even when we are deeply in love sometimes our own self-preservation comes first even if it hurts the one we love the most.
This book is wonderful! I encourage anyone who loves a well written sexy romance to read it. It would also be a great way to get into reading the M/M romance-erotic genre if you have never read this genre before, but have been curious about it.
I loved this book and can't recommend these books any higher if you are looking for a great series romance.
