"Imagine new, imagine old, imagine hot, imagine cold…" Perfect for young children, this book presents opposites in a clear and simple way, making the most of the wisdom that "a picture is worth a thousand words." Throughout, Ruth Brown's painterly illustrations perfectly balance the easy, rhythmic text. Ruth Brown is an award-winning author and illustrator. The front cover does not do this book justice as the illustrations inside are beautiful, vibrant and colourful as well as being full of whimsical details as the author encourages children to imagine anything and everything. A warm bedtime story which is perfect for sharing!
I actually really like this a lot! You get to travel all over the world just in these little "imagine" opposite pairs. The artworks is very lovely, the text is sparse. Ultimately it's very sweet. Though the child at the beginning looks weirdly sickly. Anyway, a nice little bedtime story that opens up conversations about the pictures . . . or just gentle imaginings before bed. Lovely. (The cover font is terrible though.)
love the illustrations ... a, m & i read this together, one page each, outside in the sunshine on the wainui-deckchair. d was staining his almost completed bookshelf.
