The powerful prophetic book shows you how the Feasts of Israel point to the Lord Jesus and the destiny He has prepared for all humankind. A Prophetic Calendar presents the biblical feasts as a mural of God's ageless desire to draw all people to Him. In this intimate invitation, you are provided in-depth biblical teaching and fresh prophetic understanding that beautifully links the Old and New Testaments and you to His divine plan for the ages. The feasts foreshadow the ministry of Jesus the Messiah and give a unique revelation of His redemptive purposes-past, present, and future.
Holy Spirit led me to do a 24 hour absolute fast. He directed me to read chapter 11 about the Sabbath (Shabbat). It was a powerful time for me. I love how this author ministers in her writing through Holy Spirit. Sabbath is a "Date Day" with God. She gives suggestions on how to observe the Sabbath and she write about the Lord's heart concerning the Sabbath in our modern day. Her writing is informative, prayerful and practical.
A Prophetic Calendar: The Feasts of Israel by Jill Shannon is a powerful book that takes the reader through the Feasts of Israel and how each one points to Jesus, his life and his second coming. It also paints a wonderful picture of God’s timeless desire to draw all people to Him and have an intimate relationship with them. Ms. Shannon sets out to detail how the seven festivals all foreshadow the life and ministry of Jesus the Messiah and goes in depth on the origins and details of how each festival is celebrated. She details how each festival can be celebrated today in a world and culture dictated by busyness and work. Details from each festival are thoroughly examined for their symbolism and meaning, Ms. Shannon uses Scripture as evidence that the requirements for the festivals aren’t random and point to Jesus as the Messiah and Lamb of God. From the festivals laid out in Leviticus and the festivals of deliverance in celebration from historical events, readers can appreciate that God has left no detail to chance. Even the importance of celebrating the Sabbath, which means a day to cease and desist, whatever day you choose to celebrate it. Let the Sabbath be a day to focus on the Lord. A Prophetic Calendar is a great book for Christians who want to know more and possibly celebrate these festivals. She uses Scripture, historical records and her own personal experiences to provide an experience of each festival as many Christians may not ever experienced before. Overall, I enjoyed the book and Ms. Shannon’s in depth examination of every detail. Although, she kept repeating that the Jewish holidays are hard to find on a “normal” calendar which isn’t true. My yearly calendar always has the major holidays like Passover, Purim, Yom Kippur, etc. Although I disagreed with a few of her statements, I found her to be insightful and genuine. I recommend for anyone who wants to know more about the history of the festivals and their link to Jesus.
A Prophetic Calendar is available in paperback and eBook
Well written explanation of the various feasts that God instituted for His people Israel, their significance, and their place in the yearly calendar. The author offers ways in which Gentile readers can join their Jewish brethren in celebrating these feasts as a part of the fulfillment of God's promise of creating one people who follow Him. The spiritual truths in the way in which the feasts are celebrated even today were exciting and in some cases profound. The author's passion for the subject was clear and appreciated.
This was a complete waste. While it appears at first glance to be full of Bible references, whenever she wants to support her beliefs, she switches instead to "God gave me a message..." In other words, she doesn't care what the Bible actually says; her authority is whatever she wants to do. If she can't even tell the difference between the New Testament and the Old Testament (Jeremiah 31:31-32), then why should we listen to what she say about anything else in the Bible? Save your money.
Explaining the history and background of the Old Testament feasts is enlightening. Connecting them to New Testament. teaching introduced a new way of viewing Scripture. I found the redundancy and dogmatic pronouncements problematic. It was difficult to read an entire chapter in one sitting. I finished the book but it took some time I would only recommend this book to selective people and with a caveat
Wanting to know more about the Jewish faith led me to read this book. I am a Christian but didn't realise the connection between the two faiths before. I thought they were completely separate. Now I know God's heart in the matter and am praying He will continue to open my eyes.
Having just read the passage in Deuteronomy about the feast it was nice to have Messianic Jew explain how Christians can celebrate these feasts too and the meaning for both faiths.
Wow!!! Our Heavenly Father has appointed His feast and festivals as times for intimacy. He has not left us in the dark. The last 3 feast have not been fulfilled and they will during his return! Exciting!!!!
