Christopher Penczak is a Witch, teacher, writer and healing practitioner. His practice draws upon the foundation of both modern and traditional Witchcraft blended with the wisdom of mystical traditions from across the globe as a practitioner and teacher of shamanism, tarot, Reiki healing, herbalism, astrology and Qabalah. He is the founder of the Temple of Witchcraft tradition and system of magickal training based upon the material of his books and classes. He is an ordained minister primarily serving the New Hampshire and Massachusetts pagan and metaphysical communities through public rituals, private counsel and teaching, though he travels extensively teaching throughout the United States.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on May 10, 1973, Christopher was raised in an Italian/Polish family while living in Salem, NH. After twelve years of Catholic school and becoming an avowed agnostic, he initially pursued an interest in chemistry, stemming from a childhood fascination with alchemy and herbalism. As a youth, he had an out of body experience, passing out in a fourth grade science class, but observing the whole scene in spirit, from above the room. While in high school, he was visited by an apparition of his recently deceased great aunt. These two experiences made him question his dedication to science and pursue a study of the mystical and occult, as well as his artistic pursuits. He attended the University of Massachusetts as a vocal major, earning a Bachelor of Music Performance/Music Business in 1995 and set his sights on becoming a full time performer. While studying classical voice, he founded a band called Doctor Soulshine that fused mystical imagery and shamanic concepts to traditional heavy rock music.

While in college, a long time friend and teacher introduced Christopher to the principles of witchcraft, meditation, tarot and spell work. At first he was skeptical, but his experience with a healing spell at a full Moon ritual was enough to convince him that there was truth to these ideas and he sought to understand more. He took classes with Laurie Cabot, in her Cabot Tradition with an emphasis on Witchcraft As A Science. He was fascinated with the science and philosophy of her teaching, grounding witchcraft in sound thinking and personal experience. A psychic healing experience left him with a sense of empowerment and spiritual connection. After this initial training, he studied with an assortment of witches, shamans, yogis, psychic readers and healers in the New England area, developing an eclectic path of personal witchcraft. He later focused on the healing arts, completing training as a Reiki Master (Teacher) in the Usui-Tibetan and Shamballa traditions and certification as a flower essence consultant and herbalist.

After graduation from college, Christopher began work at the A&R department of Fort Apache, a recording studio and record label in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He soon found himself leading meditations and ritual groups for friends seeking to know more about the Craft. During his time in the Boston area, Christopher experimented with the ideas he later wrote about in his book City Magick: Urban Rituals, Spells and Shamanism. The initial ritual group formed the nucleus of the first Temple of Witchcraft series.

Although having no real interest in teaching formally, Christopher received a message during a meditation in 1998 to start teaching more and begin writing. Thinking it was his imagination, Christopher ignored it, saying to himself and the universe, “I’m too busy with my music career. If you want me to teach, give me the time.” The next week he was laid off from his job and had plenty of time. Although with a booming economy and many job opportunities, Christopher had no luck finding a position in the music industry, or a more traditional office job. When he posted a few flyers about meditation and witchcraft classes at a local shop, the response was immediate and he began teaching cla

A great compendium on both money magick and the psychology of getting one's money worries settled. The energy of prosperity seems to be key to this.

Some really interesting insight into Tarot cards interpretations.

An overview of ley lines, dragon lines, mythos (dragons, King Arthur), chakras, pentacles, pentagrams and many more fun tidbits.

Q:
Magick comes in many forms, and there are many covert master magicians who are so covert that they don't even know they are magicians. (c)
Q:
Witches look for the end result of their magick. What do you really want? Many people hear about the power of magick and think they would do magick to win the lottery, to get lots of money. But why? Why do they want the money? Many people do money spells, but they really don't want money, they want something specific. When people come to me wanting to manifest money, we talk about what the goal is behind the quest for money. They often want money for a vacation, for a new car, or for a new home. When we get beyond the material possessions, the constant theme is that they want money to be secure. They don't want to worry about money, to worry about a job and all the problems that come with a job. They want the freedom to pursue the things that make them happy. They want the freedom to do whatever they want, whenever they want. Don't we all?
The magickal initiate knows that you have that freedom already. We all do. (c)

This is one of the best books on magic and money that I have ever read. It covers a lot of ground by starting off in the area of most importance, our consciousness. Many people suffer from poverty consciousness and the only remedy for that is to develop prosperity consciousness. Mr Penczak takes us on a literal journey that embraces exercises, meditations and embracing and changing our self image. I have copied lots of stuff from this book and put it in my book of shadows.

What is exactly is prosperity and what is abundance? are the two the same? According to the author definitely not. Prosperity is having everything that we want and need along with the ability to accomplish what we set out to do. Abundance means just having plenty of something. Abundance does not address fulfillment or satisfaction.

Often times our biggest obstacle to prosperity is our mindset. Is the world rich and abundant or is the world limited in resources. The magical mindset strives to be in balance between the two. Often times our ability to earn wealth is affected by our self image or how we see ourselves. If we have a negative image that means we are tapping into a negative archetype. Such negative archetypes include, the starving student, the artist, the miser or the gambler just to name a few. What we want to do is to adapt a more positive image of ourselves and tap into the energy of a more positive archetype.

To change our consciousness we need to work with our seven chakras. In the book there are descriptions of the chakras and accompanying exercises to go along with them. These include gratitude and goal lists, getting rid of stale energy, self image work etc.

After this section the author discusses Karma and true will. Basically we are provided with what we need to carry out or true will which is development of the soul. Being poverty stricken is not a sign of spirituality. You cannot be spiritual if you are starving on the street. To help with wealth the book also tells us that nothing comes for free that there is a price. If you want success there are no shortcuts you have to put in the work and the effort. If someone does you a favor you have to be prepared to return the favor.

To address the magical aspect of prosperity you must first clear away the negative this could range from rituals used to banish negativity and uncrossing rituals for someones hex. The book has a very thorough list of Deities, herbs and stones that will assist you on your path to prosperity. THE BOOK CONTAINS recipes and many freestyle rituals to help you.

The final part of the book talks about ethics of making money for your magical services. After all if you are providing a service like a doctor does should you not be paid for it. The author brings in wisdom from many different sources including Astrology and Feng Shui. Don't check this book out from the library...buy it.

Wise witches know that the key to magickal success is a well thought out magickal working followed by real world action. In the Witch's Coin Penczak provides detailed avenues for both parts.

Importantly, as usual, Penczak addresses the theory behind the workings and not simply a cookbook. An entire chapter is devoted to Poverty Consciousness and how to over come the mindset of Poverty Consciousness and develop a realistic sense of Prosperity Consciousness. Penczak's approach doesn't require you to take on an unrealistic level of optimism and he acknowledges the natural ebbs and flows of natural cycles, including that of prosperity. However, he teaches you how to have a more balanced and beneficial outlook.

Penczak includes an extremely useful and accessible chapter on timing and location. His break down of the pertinent prosperity related astrological information is digestible even for those whose strong suit does not lie in the realm of astrology.

The author does indeed include various correspondences of herbs, stones, and even deities related to prosperity. Also included are the requisite spells to try out. However, even more importantly he includes a chapter entitled, "Credit in the Real World" at the end of his book. If you haven't guessed it, he gives extremely practical and down to earth mundane financial advice you can use to follow up and supplement your magick with real world action.

This should be on every witches shelf. As far as money/prosperity magick books go, this one is the prosperity powerhouse.

The author of this book just wants to enslave citizens with those bald heads who oppose human rights!

You want to religiousize witchcraft, which is not a religion in the first place, and many Wiccans dislike some of the human rights abuses of Christianity, and even joined the Witchcraft organization to leave Christianity, but you approve of the even more human rights abuses of Buddhism? You guys are just purposely promoting them!

I'm telling you, these bald-headed clowns are using the ancient art of domination! They want to try to prevent the poor and other citizens from protesting or even revolutionizing! They are trying to discredit and take away other people's such as drinking, private life, financial interests, etc! And wicca doesn't violate those legal rights of others to live at all! The claim of wicca is that apart from harming others, wicca lives their lives by their own free will and no one else has the right to manipulate them!

Those rights I mentioned were less accessible to the poor and ordinary citizens of antiquity, and the kings and nobles of antiquity held most of the allocated social resources! The rulers didn't even take the initiative to allocate resources to the poor and ordinary citizens! And if the poor and certain other people always fail to fight for those basic benefits of life I just mentioned, or if the poor put in too much effort and get too little! Then they are likely to get angry! And eventually revolutionize! And that cult is trying to be as ideologically repressive as possible and vilify the poor for fighting for those legitimate benefits! You go into history and see that the rulers and aristocrats never lived by the process that those bald-headed clowns are babbling about!

This is a really great book that comes loaded with a lot of spells. I was truly surprised by the degree of mindset and real world applications of magick covered in later chapters. The main takeaway is the reality that a lot of practitioners want results yet some forget the real world task needed to manifest financial desires.

I see this book as a manual rather than a one time read. I really like how Christopher broke down the magick given on specific days as well as making aide to match it to astrological counterparts. I've since reading gotten into herbal alchemy and I love how its covered in this work.

I highly recommend this book for any magick practitioner running a grounded practice.

Honestly, my least favorite subject is probably money and anything that has to do with it, besides spending it. However, I did appreciate this book for tying money into magick, and doing so in a fairly engaging way. I found the book hard to finish due to its subject matter, but that's more of a "me" problem than anything to do with the author or the book itself. There was a lot of history inside and it covered other magical subjects like archetypes (I think I'm a spendthrift), chakras, etc. Penczak remained non-judgmental throughout, and his voice was welcome and refreshing. Definitely a worthwhile read for any witch.

I've had this book for months, and only recently read through it all. When I first bought it, I only skimmed through parts of it, because to be honest, reading about money is not one of my favorite things. Especially since I don't manage it very well. However, the book does contain a great deal of wisdom regarding the witch's relationship to money and financial responsibility. I found the last two chapters, "Magick and Business" and "Credit in the Real World" particularly enlightening. This is a book I will keep returning to for insight, as I work to bring my own money issues under control.

This is definitely the most grounded and well rounded take on prosperity magick. Of course he has a variety of different types of spells and rituals you can do but also lays the foundation work. He encourages you to do exercises prior to the spells such as clearing out clutter and shadow work like prompts about money before casting any spells. As per usual, Penczak nailed it with one! I definitely recommend every witch keeps a copy on hand.

Solid material is presented here. It's more than a bunch of spells for prosperity. When Christopher Penczak takes on a subject, be prepared to walk away with every aspect of the subject being covered. I've been meaning to read this one for years, and I'm glad that I finally did.

There is some very useful information in this book. I also found the author's voice to have a friendly tone, like a friendly teacher. Very personable. This book will go on my reference shelf for sure.

Incredibly wiccan centered, with a side of appropriating Judism, Norse Mythology, Greek Mythology, Voodoo, Hoodoo, Hinduism and Eastern Magic. It has every problem a lot of new age "magic" books.

This is not just a book about money magic (I won't use the "ck" spelling). The author challenges the reader to reevaluate the definition of prosperity and ones relationship with money. He goes on to get the reader to reexamine his/her own relationship with the divine and with magic.
Penczak is obviously a very learned and knowledgeable witch. He does tend to drone on a little too long on some chapters. The various tables and lists for different correspondences do not make for exciting reading, but they are good for reference. The list of deities to consult is probably a little too all-inclusive as he really stretches things by including some deities that don't have any obvious connection to money. Perhaps he was trying to make allowances for those pagans who identify more strongly with some god or goddess who wouldn't normally make the cut. Plus, there is his insistence on beating the reader over the head with his idea of examining the definition of prosperity as being about more than just material wealth. I perfectly agree with that sentiment, but I also know why I picked up the book.
The last chapter is a rather remedial outline of how not to throw money away once you get it.
For all of its faults, this is a good one-stop book for money magic with some great exercises that I will refer to again.

I did not put witch craft as a description of this book. Although it does mention spells, anyone of any religion can read and understand this one.
The underlining theme is that to prosper you must also be in balance with nature, humanity and yourself. The author explains all the theories and practices behind this idea and what you can do is in our own life to life to bring this about. Negativity and worry only bring more negativity and worry. He uses many examples to show this principle.
I think this is a good book for people who really want to get out of the endless debt cycle.
I did not read a five star book in May according to my tastes. This is the only one that emerges with the highest rating so this title is my book of the month for May 2014. I prefer to use a five star book but alas there were none this month!
