Susan Lopez-Valdes, Dr. Nompumelelo Real Kunene Equity is the ability to provide reasonable services to all students as needed so we can help them obtain maximum success. Through equity and access, we can reach all students. Without providing students with the appropriate resources they need, they are stripped from a FAPE experience they deserve. As leaders, it is imperative that we do our part to ensure that all students can THRIVE and learn! As the nation faces tensions regarding appropriate curriculum for students, the most important aspect to consider is the method behind how we are intentionally striving to serve all students.

Equity in the realm of education can be seen as the big "elephant" in the room. Mini leaders like there's like the concept to come up but they're not quite sure how to approach it. Some are afraid to offend others or even get "canceled" by news outlets and have a fear of saying or doing the wrong thing. However, there is a lack of understanding what equity really is and how it helps students from all backgrounds.

Weather students are English learners, have a learning disability or are from another ethnicity. No matter their diverse background, prior experience or social economic status, we must strive to attain Equity, Diversity, inclusion and Access for all. We must convince all learners that they have enough Grit and ability to THRIVE in the classroom as independent thinkers as they develop their math identity.

In this book, we will explore the world of equity and the lens of education at all levels. Coming from district leadership, principals, legislators, classroom teachers and more, we will see the work of equity unfold in every lens. It is our hope that after readyinf this book every leader and stakeholder will throughly understand equity and why it is imperative for closing the achievement gap across the globe.
