is it just me or has the cover art and art in general gotten worse as the authors changed?
I really loved Raina telegimers and Gale Galileans illustrations because they had so much to them. these new illustrators seem like they are not trying enough with the color

This wasn’t as good as I expected, since it was pretty similar to Kristy’s Big Day, and the plot was basic. I still enjoyed the illustrations and characters though.

A low-key adventure has the group sightseeing and babysitting, with some bickering and middle school friendship squabbles the only real drama to be had.

In many ways, this feels like the basis of a tax write-off for the authors' own visits to NYC. Those Broadway tickets and limo rental were just part of our diligent research, Mr. IRS Agent, sir!

I just love Stacey! Is she my new favorite baby-sister?! The more I read of her in this series the more I enjoy her character. Now that Stacey is back in New York City BSC comes to visit and the shenanigans ensue. I really loved the babysitters being in the Big Apple. But of course, there was drama and some back biting too. LOL. But they figured it out as usual. And the graphic design in this one was so beautiful!

5 📚 Physical Book

Read this with my daughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. This was one of the better stories in this graphic novel series. The club takes a trip to NYC to visit former BSC member, Stacey. The girls find themselves in some chaotic and frustrating situations which test their patience and friendships. Each character grows and pushes through to make it to the end of this wild adventure.

I love NYC and I love the big group babysitting stories. This is only held back from being the best BSC story by the sheer amount of secondhand embarrassment. So glad the graphic novel series made it this far into the series

I love this one so much! The illustrations reminded me of Raina Telgemeier’s style and gave me so much nostalgia. The entire BSC visiting and roaming around new york city was so fun to see, and them baby sitting a bunch of kids was so cute as well. Kristy dancing with Coby got my hopeless romantic heart blushing too <3

This was cute. Stacey has two best friends from two different places who are jealous of the other’s relationship with Stacey. In the end they realize all they needed to do was take time to get to know each other. Reminds me of when I was in high school.

I liked this book, the story about how Stacey moved to New York from Connecticut, and invites her Connecticut friends and new work friends for a party, but rivalry comes between Claudia and Laine.

I was fascinated by the changes they made in this one.

For example: the reason why Stacey's building needs all those baby-sitters is so that the adults can attend a fundraiser for the local community theatre, while in the original it was to deal with the homeless problem (namely Judy, the lady who lives on Stacey's block).

The illustrations had clear playbills for many well-known Broadway musicals (such as Hamilton and Phantom), but kept the girls going to see Starlight Express (although they didn't actually name it this time).

The local theater is having a fundraiser and Stacey has had to say no to so many babysitting opportunities. It happens to be a long weekend, and she has the idea to invite the Baby-Sitting Club to NYC for the weekend so they can watch all the kids together and help out the local theater. With her parents' permission, Stacey puts the plan into motion. She has the whole weekend planned out. But what happens when things don't go exactly according to plan and when her Connecticut BFF and her NYC BFF get off on the wrong foot?

All the girls have things to learn from this weekend about adapting to new experiences and being ok when things don't go perfectly and how to be good friends to each other in the midst of all that. It's a fun little trip to New York City with the Baby-Sitter Club, a chance to bring back Stacey, and learn some good lessons. Wrangling 10 kids at the Natural History Museum and Central Park is also quite entertaining for readers. They kept in postcards the girls write to family members from the original story which may seem very odd to modern readers, but it is a cute idea some may try out.

I’m normally a 5-star rater for all things BSC, but this time I just couldn’t do it. Sure, it had all the cheese, all the nostalgia and all the unrealistic elements that I love from the BSC. Eleven and thirteen year olds traveling ALONE to NYC to babysit a bunch of kids they’ve never met. It just never stops being hilarious to me and how much I absolutely devoured these books as a kid and didn’t even blink about it just makes them seem awesomely dated. So why the 4 stars only?
Well, I know graphic novel adaptations need to do a fair amount of cutting, but this one just seemed like they were taking away the best parts and leaving the most obnoxious ones. Aside from the fact that the art (despite being beautifully drawn) basically depicted them as a bunch of twenty somethings rather than middle schoolers, the characterization was just not great. Stacey spent most of the book being mortified by her friends and was frankly downright rude to them. The rest of them were just so exaggerated and annoying that for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I was annoyed with them. Not in a “the author did an amazing job of making me hate said character sort of way” but in a “omg really” sort of way.
Will I read the rest of them. Absolutely.

This was a good addition to the books and, unlike some of the other books, has withstood the test of time because there were less elements that required it to be set in the past. I get that these are updates to the originals without changing the stories and such, but it is hard to read these and not contextualize them to the here and now especially given how the characters are drawn.

I do think that, nowadays, kids would probably be a little more sheltered than being able to take a cab without an adult at the age they are, but maybe I'm wrong and it's just me with my kiddos.

But all in all, a good story. Some lessons are learned, and quite a few really when you consider how each girl also has to figure out their own relationship with travel and the big city.

This book was almost completely clean, just not really worth it.🤷🏼‍♀️ The plot was thin (though you can't really expect much there from the BSC 🤣🤭), there were several aspects that were barely believable...the art was cute though! 🥰 I won't go on, since it wasn't really bad, just not really worth it. 😝
