Wish I could give this so many more stars. It was riveting, to the point I finally finished at 2 am last night. Kathryn writes such good books I wish I had half her talent.
Our hero is Titus, a tall, strong wonderful knight, a member of the Executioner Knights under the control of Morgen de Lohr. He’s never taken things seriously, never fallen in love. Until now. His lady is Katiana de Edington, she’s five when they first meet and Titus is Fifteen, he’s told he’s her protector by his grandfather William de Wolfe , and that’s where their story begins.
It’s fast full of information (so be ready) the characters are wonderful, full of life and some full of darkness too. When this is set England is on the verge of war and upheaval, and our characters have much to deal with. This book is epic, it one of those you’ll definitely remember. And a bonus is that all Titus’s brothers are in it and most of his uncles. Enjoy, it’s breathtaking.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
25/4/23 01 Jun 2023 In days of old when knights were bold! ⭐️⭐️💫
I was looking for a quick engaging read. Sadly this didn’t quite fill the bill. It’s 1292. Five year old Katiana de Edington, is being beaten by her brother Ansel Edington in the stables. The children were both being fostered at Roxburgh Castle as was the custom. When Titus son of Patrick de Wolfe, Earl of Berwick, witnesses this he pulls Ansel off the wee mite in no uncertain terms. Ansel is sent back home and Titus is told that he in charge of protecting Katiana. Fast forward twenty years (1312) to London and Katiana is saved once again by Titus when her horse bolts. Not that they recognize each other at this stage. It’s the time when Lancaster begins his move for the throne. Titus is an Executioner Knight, a group formed a hundred years ago whose aim is to keep England stable. It seems Lancaster has broken away from a rebel group who oppose Edward. His ally, the Earl of Warwick, against custom, abducted Edward II’s supporter, Piers Gaveston from Pembroke’s charge, and taken him to stand trial at Warwick Castle for crimes against England. I’ve got to say I found characters somewhat wooden. Katiana, the poor little rich girl, whose father sends her to try to her Aunt Ethyl to make a good marriage. Of course she no dowry. Her brother Ansel calls her home because their father’s died. In reality he’s going to sell her to the highest bidder. Titus is to be her escort. I feel like I’ve met the characters before in other guises, particularly the Lady Zora the spoilt pathological liar who demands her own way and turns situations to her bent. A fairly predictable Middle Ages romance that is not as exciting as its blurb. I wished it were.
A Dragonblade ARC via NetGalley. Many thanks to the author and publisher. (Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.)
It’s been way too long since I’ve read a medieval romance and WolfeBorn was the perfect book to break the dry spell.
I loved that an act of protection was the thing that brought this couple together. The fact that Katiana was a small child when this took place only added to the charm of their story. Once they are reunited their quick banter and witty flirtations solidified my total enjoyment in this book.
While this does deal with a bit of political drama, it does not consume the story line but adds a touch of flavor to it. There is definitely some danger and struggle from a different source that had me turning the pages as fast as possible to reach the resolution. This was my first by this author and I’m definitely planning to dig deeper into her rich and luscious backlist.

Titus de Wolfe is an Executioner Knight. He is a spy and an assassin. He will do whatever it takes to protect England. He doesn't have time for love with England on the edge of war within. But a runaway horse and saving Katiana renews a connection from twenty years ago. It may seem crazy but,Titus knows this is the woman he wants for his wife. Unfortunately this comes with complications that will put Katiana's life in danger. There's only one solution, but it will take the de Wolfe empire to protect Titus and Katiana's decision. Mild descriptive sex. Violence. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Tropes : medieval romance, romantic suspense, childhood friends, possessive H Ending : HEA (h was pregnant) Triggers : death of parents, murder, violence Spice : 🌶️🌶️/5 Angst : 🔥🔥/5 OM/OW drama : yes (slight OW drama, a woman that wanted the H for herself)
Hero : Titus de Wolfe (35) Heroine: Katiana de Edington (25)
A nice low angst medieval romance. The plot was okay. I enjoyed it and didn’t skim any.
Tbh I’m not in the mood for reviewing anything lol. Sadly there’s nothing here that’s memorable.
WolfeBorn brings us the story about Katiana de Edington and Titus de Wolfe who is a grandson of William de Wolfe whom many of this author's books stem from. It's not necessary to read any of the books before this one but it is amazing how the author ties in other family members and describes them so you feel like you know everyone. There was a big family gathering in the second half and I admit I lost track of everyone but it didn't detract from the story. I'm guessing the author partly included all these members for those readers that avidly follow the books.
I gave the book 4 starts and felt the second half was more engaging to me as a reader than the first half. Titus was an amazing hero from the start and I can't say enough good things about him. There's a comment he makes to Katiana during one of their initial meetings "I want to inspire men" that just shows how much good he wants to do in the world. He starts out the book championing and standing up for Katiana when they're children(he was actually a teen) and finishes in the same way. He's a leader, strong, protector, handsome(of course) and also had me smiling with his sense of humor. He actually named his horse Jesus...so just imagine some of those scenes. It seemed the first half of the book had more detail about Titus and his work as a knight. It almost felt like information was given that may set the tone for future books with some of the political powers in play. I probably glossed over some of this as this doesn't interest me as much as the story between the main characters.
Titus meets Katiana first as children then later in life as adults. While it wasn't insta-love, the two definitely shared an attraction and the first half shows them becoming reacquainted. The book is in alternating POV's so you are really able to see how each one feels about the other as they talk. Katiana was a great heroine as well although I didn't feel as strongly about her as I did about Titus. They end up married...which didn't happen through the usual/proper channels and this creates some havoc. They had good reasons for the. marriage which I don't want to spoil. Their arrival at Titus's parents home and ensuing activities takes up much of the second part of the story which I went through fairly quickly. There's drama with a jealous woman as well as Katiana's brother who is a horrible person. Between them, the deWolfe family and other drama you'll find yourself quickly finishing this story. I'll share I enjoyed the ending scene...I don't want to spoil it but always like it when the author gives us a little insight into the future.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and while I've read some of the other de Wolfe stories, I have yet to read them all. After finishing this book, I find myself wanting to read about more of this family so will be looking up some of the characters mentioned in this book for their stories.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my advanced reader copy. I really enjoyed this book!
Wolfeborn by KathrynLe Veque is a story about the grandson of the great William Wolfe, and son of Patrick “Atty” and Brighton. Titus had solidified himself as an enemy of Ansel de Edington when the two of them were fifteen years of age and Titus had rescued Ansel’s sister, Katiana, from his abuse. He was whipping her with a switch. His uncle and grandfather had caught the fight, and made Titus her protector from that time forward. Ansel had been sent home in disgrace. Now twenty years later, when Titus was in London in his occupation as an Executioner Knight, he had cause to stop a runaway horse whose rider turned out to be Katiana. She had grown into a beautiful woman and he was captivated. They spent several days together before she had to travel north because she had been summoned to her father’s death bed. He was to go apprise his father of the major political happenings underfoot so he volunteered to escort her, along with two servants. Along the way he determined he wanted to marry her. She said no as their social standings were nowhere near equal and she had no dowry. As a member of the de Wolfe family he could expect both. Finally, as they arrived at his brother’s fortress, he convinced her and they snuck off to the local priest and did the deed. He had no doubt her brother would refuse his request to marry her and no telling what he would do to her once she was in his power. He was depending on his father to help him break the news to Ansel.
Titus is what we’ve come to expect from a Wolfe descendant, big, bold, courageous, and loving. Katiana was well past marriageable age and did not expect ever to marry. She was bright, and cheerful, but realistic. Both good characters, as one come to expect from Le Veque. The plot was a little different, although “stealing” a bride has happened before in the series. Evil brothers are common, usually motivated by greed. Ansel was indeed evil. As always, love won. It was a nice break to read a de Wolfe novel. I enjoyed it.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Wolfeborn by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #KathrynLeVeque #Wolfeborn
I really enjoyed this story. Granted not a lot of violence as in other stories by this author, but I loved it.
This story starts out when the h is only 5 and the H is 15. He saves her from being beaten by her brother and he's told he will be her champion. This doesn't last long, since both are sent to other strongholds. I can't tell you how thrilled I get when we meet the MC when they are younger. Fast forward 20 years and he saves her again.
Humor especially from the H, but at times I felt he certainly didn't act as a man of his mid 30's. The h was a joy from beginning to end. She is loving, loyal and smart. She realizes she can't be with a man as the H, because she is almost a nobody and he's from the most powerful family in England.
This story is a standalone, but my goodness I urge you to read anything on the Wolfe family, especially starting with William. I was amazed how quickly I remember all the family of William as they are interspersed in this story. Warmed my big Polish Heart to have them be part of this journey.
Some politics that I didn't find boring nor did it slow the pace. Maybe because some of my favorite characters were making decisions on how to protect their beloved country.
Lovemaking, within marriage, heat level 3 out of 5 filled with passion and love.
Nasty villains who you know from the start but not sure how if they will be punished. I did want to know more about the outcome of the person who stole money. Was he ever discovered or punished?
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, thrilling and filled with suspense, and a tad of spice. Lord's name used in vain a couple times.
I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to read this story. (ljb)
Titus de Wolfe is the youngest of four brothers. He is also an Executioner knight and spends his time touring the country collecting important information. With the political intrigue happening at the time our tale is set that is a full time job.
Katiana de Edington is quite happy living with an elderly aunt in London. Most of her life she has been ignored by her father or bullied by her vicious brother. Her peace is about to be completely shattered.
This visit to the wonderful medieval world of the De Wolfe family is just as exciting and fulfilling as you can want.
There is danger, excitement, giggles and steamy sex scenes. Our hero is often like a naughty little boy, even though he is a huge battle tested warrior. Our lonely, unloved heroine is about to find out what a family should really be like.
Our author never fails to give us stories that are so different from each other, yet linked by family ties. Regular readers will know most of the characters, but even if this is the first one you have picked up you will fall in love with them all. Then you will go directly back to your bookshop for more. As always once I picked this up, I couldn't put it down.
Politics, Betrayals, Romance: A very intriguing beginning of this epic story where a very young Katiana and Titus first meet. Their romance story starts many years later after Titus again saves Katiana in a most unexpected way. Rekindling their friendship and realizing they are both enjoying each other's company along with a budding attraction that has them rethinking their relationship the more time they spend together. It doesn't take long for desire to show its lovely face. A very in depth exciting emotional story filled with a large cast of characters and as much turmoil, betrayals, and disasters as you can possibly imagine. Reuniting with some of the large family was a highlight and added a good amount of joy to the story. Espionage and politics filled most of the pages along with a few terrifying situations. At one point while I was so deeply immersed in the reunion of a father and son that I was so caught off guard I almost fell out of my chair when the despicable solution to a problem occurred. I had to stop and take a breath at that point. Mature Advisory: 🌶🌶 I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest opinion. .
In a country torn by war and jockeying for power, a sweet romance emerges between Titus and Katiana. As a small child, Titus had come to her rescue and he is doing it again. The political situation makes the course of their romance rocky, to say the least, and with her vicious brother snapping at her heels in an attempt to exploit her to his best advantage, Katiana is once again placed in a perilous situation. Over the years, Katiana has learned to stand up for herself, but it takes more than her quick thinking to save herself. Fortunately, the de Wolfe Clan stands together and revenge is sweet. The novel comes to a beautiful conclusion with their enemies receiving their just and gruesome reward. The plot is suspenseful and very well-researched, and by contrast, Titus and Katiana's love story brings a sweet breath of fresh air. I received a copy of this exciting novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Titus de Wolfe is an Executioner Knight sworn to Morgen de Lohr. When he saves a beautiful young woman in London from a runaway horse, they realize they know each other. Katina de Edington has never had the love of a family. Ignored by her father and abused by her brother, her only happiness has been at the home of her aunt in London even though she longed for more. But she receives word that her father is dying and she must return home. Dread and fear at the thought of seeing her brother again takes hold of her. At least she will be escorted by Titus and he will protect her. This story has the familiar sons of William de Wolfe and other members of their family. There is also, a woman scorned, a greedy and abusive brother, a marriage without permission, politics, passion, strong family bonds and love. This was a great book and I just love the de Wolfe men.
She creates yet more rich characters in Titus deWolfe and Mariana deEddington, and then surrounds them with the legend and richness of the de Wolfe family she has created over time. She sets it in the amazing history of Medieval England, adds the intrigue of the greedy and wicked, and brings you along in the journey of love, romance and the camaraderie of a great family. It's a journey i look forward to taking with her every time, and I'm always sorry when it's over.
When will Netflix or some other streaming service discover Kathryn's many great series and bring them to television?
Titus de Wolfe fostered at Roxburgh castle along with Ansel de Edington and his sister Katiana. Ansel was a bully to his sister Katiana who was only 5 at the time beating her when things didn’t go his way. He would not follow commands given by his trainers. He was soon sent home by Blathe the garrison commander’s father William de Wolfe. Soon to follow Katiana’s father took her away to Warwick Castle . Twenty, years later they meet again in London.
My mere words cannot even come close to appropriately praising KLV's talent for writing the perfect story each and every time! I am in absolute awe of her ability to extend the world and families begun through William and Jordan de Wolfe and with such amazing detail! If it were at all possible, a peek inside her bewildering brain would be at the top of my bucket list!!
Another good read. I loved both Titus and Katiana which of course helps. And of course the whole de Wolfe clan.
The story was interesting and I was fully behind the romance. And we also have true evil in the form of Ansel and Zora. So all I can say is bring on the next one.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
I enjoyed this book very much. Much more than the more recent books. I especially love the inclusion of all the de Wolfe progeny. One question remains, it appears by his name that great grandfather Magnus died before Thaddeus was born. Is this correct?
Best Decision I Ever Made Loved the fast paced love story filled with excitement only a de Wolfe story can. The close bond of family, the hate of enemies and love of country surrounded by great Lords always comes through with a sense of pride of family and friendships! Katiana & Titus will make their on mark on the deWolfe cubs and set their place in history!
Kathryn never disappoints. I love the flow of her writing and finish her books quickly. Sadly so, because now comes patience for her next one! I only have one avenue I would have liked to see happen …was for the (spoiler alert), priest not to have stolen the wealth of De Allery. Maybe bringing it to Katiana after all…🤷♀️
Never a dull moment in a de Wolfe storyline, another page turner, tear jerker and family get together that had me laughing out loud. Would like to see a storyline about Attys daughter Krissy, the very tall blond. Can't say enough about this author, love the series, waiting for the next pre-order.
The fun part about this book was the interactions with so many old favorites! Even getting to see Cassias & Dacia. A-lot of old familiar names in this book. I was super happy to see the mention of the Wolfe cub tattoo which unfortunately doesn’t get mentioned in all the grandson stories. A good read but definitely not my favorite de Wolfe story.
WolfeBorn is book 9 of de Wolfe pack Generations series by Kathryn Leveque. I adored Titus and his love. They made an excellent medieval book. I really wish there were more of deWolfe pack but I'm also looking forward to the new books your writing Kathryn. Everything you write is great.
Excellent book that follows the life of Titus and Katiana from childhood up to adulthood. Their story is one of true strength as they traverse the changing road of love, awareness and trust. They know they are faced with danger and go headfirst into defeating all barriers to a life together. It will be a hard and difficult journey but they will do this together. Many things happen in this story keep you tied to the book! I highly recommend this story!
As always my favourite author has bought us another strong and sweet love story with a deWolfe. Always a story of love with a great twist. These boys never well seldom ever do courtship and marriage according to the confines of social rules. But that is what makes them interesting. Enjoy!
Titus and Katia’s story is what you expect from Kathryn Le Veque. Lots of humor entangled with real historical events of Medieval England. Wrapped up in a rebellion against King Edward, Titus de Wolfe rescues a woman, and in so doing, alters the course of his life. From that point on, history and fiction and the Executioner Knights mingle for a great read.
I love this novel! I especially love the way the author intersperses historical events in her characters’s timelines. I’m always learning something new about events from medieval times whilst enjoying a satisfying romance combined with the humorous antics and banter from characters I adore.
I have had moments of joy and moments of heartache reading all 9 of these books. It always breaks my heart when a man cries and these grand knights are not afraid to show their feelings. Kathryn Le Veque is a wonderful writer. I am looking forward to reading more books of hers.. Yes! I very much recommend this book and all the de Wolfe Pack series.
I love the de Wolfe family! These books keep me entertained, laughing, crying, and angry at the villains! The great love matches and happily ever afters keep me coming back for more. Plus I get a history lesson in each book. Thank you again and again, Kathryn Le Veque 💖 pamarella PRCS
