Mistakes and Heartbreaks in Seabury

Rate this book
*Mistakes and Heartbreaks in Seabury is a standalone story in the popular Seabury series*

This is Seabury - where everyone knows everyone, the average tourist hasn't got a clue it even exists, and that's just how the locals like it!

Mrs Mary Scott is sick of quivering like a newborn lamb every time she has to drive into Seabury. She really must get over this silliness!

Still, what else did she expect? This was what happened to fools in love!

But… she wasn’t in love! What a ridiculous notion. After all, it had been decades since she’d made the mistake that had changed her life forever - robbing her of a lifetime of happiness.

Mary blamed the new-fangled art gallery that was taking over Nana’s ice cream parlour for stirring everything up again. A retrospective of Lionel Barclay’s paintings was bound to have an effect on her!

All Mary wants it to do is let her mistake rest in peace. Okay… maybe not peace exactly… not with what she’s hiding in the attic!

Will Mary risk her secret being discovered to support the only man she’s ever loved?
Or will her stiff upper lip and stubbornness ensure that a second chance at romance with the love of her life passes her by?

A heartwarming, hug of a book proving that there's no expiration date on true love! For fans of Holly Martin, Polly Babbington and Heidi Swain.

Book number 8 in the series - I'm reading them at a very fast pace because they are such wonderful stories!

Mary

I was so enthralled with Mary's story i was just hoping that she would bump into him and Lionel and Mary would both realise what a big mistake it had been all those years ago, i couldn't believe what happened at the gallery, the way Mary fled scared and vowed not to go back to Seabury due to being scared she had mad a fool of herself and finding out that Lionel had only painted the portrait of a young Mary a couple of weeks befor made her more scared of Bumping into Lionel again thinking he no longer loved her but she was still in love with him. The ending was so wonderful but we needed it to tell us so much more. There needs to be another instalment surely. Bring it on.

I absolutely loved coming back to Seabury. Once again I felt like I was part of the village life and it was so wonderful to read about Mary's story, she is mentioned in previous Seabury stories as a background character. I'm so glad she got her own story because it was brilliant.

Mary comes across as a cranky headmistress, which she is to an extent but there is a reason she is the way she is and as you read on you get to understand why.

What a beautiful story and the art gallery and opening night exhibition is very telling...you'll see what I mean when you read it 💕

A story of friendship, lost love, new love and past regrets. Beautifully written and keeps you wanting more.

Spoilers but can't avoid it to express my need for more, closure, something!

Loads of back story (even mentioned in previous book) and then there is 5 pages of them reconciling.... Decades of not talking and they get engaged after only 1 brief conversation!?!? why did it take a week for Lionel to go and see Mary? What are they going to do now? Is Mary going to stop being a hermit? So many questions!
I want more of Lionel being happy

Mary Scott is a retired headteacher, Lionel is the owner of The Pebble Street Hotel and a prolific artist. Kate is organising a pop-up art gallery and is looking for paintings to show, Mary has a lot of Lionel‘s paintings, why? Lionel and Mary have a secret from their past but can they forgive each other and move on. A moving, touching and uplifting story about second chances proving romance is not just for the younger generation.

Lovely

I loved this story about two of the characters in this series. Lionel and Mary have history so when there is an exhibition of Lionel 's paintings Mary cant stay away. Finally Mary excepts she still loves Lionel. So romantic and proof that mistakes have a way of mending the heart. I love this series about Seabury and the characters I can't wait for the next book.

I thought Lionel was rich

The excuse for Mary buying Lionel's paintings was because he was strapped for cash. So, how could he afford to buy the hotel? This ruined the story for me.

Wonderful!

This was the one I was waiting for, would they, wouldn’t they? There were hints and intrigue in previous books, the story of Lionel and Mary was worth the wait!
