Expelled from the Pactlands and cut off from the man she loves, Rose Thorn is left reeling and desperate to find a way back to Yven. But as months pass without a reprieve, she struggles to keep hope alive.
Until Lord ti’Cren comes to call.
Rose’s great-grandfather disowned his son for daring to love a human woman. Now his youngest daughter has vanished, a potential scandal for image-conscious Hall ti’Cren. Rather than go public with her disappearance and damage the Hall’s reputation, he instead demands that Rose help him with her farsight—and keep her silence.
Though Lord ti’Cren’s disdain for Rose wounds her, she sees a chance. If she can earn her great-grandfather’s favor, then perhaps he’ll acknowledge her into the Hall—the one thing she needs to legally be with Yven. But as Rose begins to search for the missing woman, her farsight takes her in unexpected directions.
Deadly directions.
Rose’s gift may be the key to bringing down one of the Pactlands’ most dangerous criminals…but only if she survives Floodtide.
Ash has always loved a good story. Her childhood bookshelves overflowed, and she refused to take notes in her copies of classroom novels because that felt like sacrilege. She wrote her first novel the summer after her freshman year of college and never looked back. (Granted, that novel was an unpublishable 270,000-word behemoth, but everyone has to start somewhere, right?)
After obtaining degrees in English and creative writing and taking a stab at magazine work, Ash decided to put her skillset to different use and went to law school. She then moved home to Alabama, where she works as an attorney. These days, Ash can be found outside of Montgomery with her inordinately fluffy Siberian husky, who loves long walks, car rides, and whatever Ash happens to be eating.
I love this series SO much and after book 3’s conclusion, was so eager to find out what fate had in store for Rose and Yven! Author Ash Fitzsimmons has done such an amazing job with the world building here, creating a world where humans and paranormal beings live in separate but connected worlds, with all sorts of complicated rules and laws and interesting magic systems. Rose and Yven have been forbidden from being together due to Rose’s part-human heritage, and I really loved how we learn so much more about Rose’s history in this book. So interesting and well done! Rose is such a great character and I love how she’s developed more and more of her power as the series has progressed, and has to use it to go after a dangerous foe here. Such a great conclusion for this part of the series and I’m glad there will be more books! 5/5 stars.
Rose has been locked out of the Pactlands for 3 months. Unable to talk to Yven, she struggles with depression. Going through her basement she finds a box with her name on it. Her granddad, having seen her, left her instructions on farsight. When her great granddad, from Aunt Lilys side, shows up, shes prepared. His daughter is missing and he wants her found. But Inade bit off more than he could chew and Rose has some surprises of her own.
This whole book had me on the edge of my seat. It ended exactly as i wanted it to!!
Ash Fitzsimmons is one of the best fantasy authors today. Every character comes alive. One can’t help cheering Rose an Yven on as they contend with various residents of Pactlands, both good and evil. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, series, and anything written by Ms. Fitzsimmons if you like fantasy novels.
Book 4 of the Hall of Thorns series provided a very satisfying resolution of all the outstanding plot lines. So much so that I was worried that Rose’s story was over, but the author has assured us that there are at least three more books to look forward to.
Thank goodness, because I’m too fond of these characters to let go of them just yet.
Such a great series! Romance, mystery, action, suspense, etc.... The list goes on and on of all the different emotions. I wasn't a fan of the cliffhanger in the last book, but this one more than made up for it. I don't want to say too much for readers who haven't gotten this far yet, but there were several shocking revelations in this book
I'm finding it almost impossible to write a review without spoilers so I'll just say this book was deeply satisfying and engrossing. I'm looking forward to learning more about the pactlands in the future.
All of my questions where answered. A perfect end to the series. I’m sad that Rose’s story is over but, there will be a companion trilogy set in the same world so I’m hoping that Rose and Yven (and other characters) make appearances.
