This book was the size of a cozy mystery, barley over 200 pages, but it was anything but cozy... however it was very much a mystery affecting many of its' Inhabitants. The story was filled with many unexpected emotions, some good and others tragic, still others terrifying. It had very interesting characters working with and around the main character, that I enjoyed way more than I thought I would, by the sound of the title, and the plotline kept me reading. There were many things happening in this busy small seaside village, some of it was confusing and spooky. The baddies were really BAD. But there were others that if they hadn't been on the right side, would have made the solving of the death of one good person into many. This picture-perfect setting was in Cresent Harbor, located on the Monterey Peninsula which is also the home of the world-renowned "Reed Museum of Art and Archaeology." in California... with their storybook cottages and breath-taking scenery set on the seaside harbor. The story's main character was also the museum's new head curator, archaeologist Scarlett Mc Cormick a very upstanding and proper lady... Her profession of being an archaeologist was how she got this job with the museum! Scarlett is used to digging into history to answer questions about the distant past. But this story's mysteries are a very new kind of mystery for her. Scarlett's training hadn't prepared her with the know how to unearth the deaths and find the murderers that seem to have invaded her new hometown, as she and her good friend Allie Preston try to set the museum up for a very high-profile red-carpet exhibition showcasing famous royal jewels. Her new job even becomes so hectic It has to involve the FBI.
Do or Diamond by A.F. Kemp is a fun cozy to read. Scarlett McCormick, curator of the Reed Museum of Art and Archaeology in Crescent Harbor, California, is preparing for an exhibition showcasing famous royal jewels at the museum. She’s hired a publicity team and extra security to protect the precious gems being displayed.
Then murder enters the picture and all is not as it seems. Clever clues and characters abound in this cozy. Who can we trust? Luckily for Scarlett, she knows she can trust her friend Allie Preston, who runs the Burial Grounds coffee shop, and Scarlett’s boyfriend Luke Anderson, an FBI agent. And of course, Reed Museum’s head of security, Winnie. Together they capture a killer and avert more deaths.
As I’ve said, if you are looking for a cozy with heart, you can’t do better than Annie’s Museum of Mystery series and Do or Diamond by A.F. Kemp. Have a beautiful day!
