“some days I cannot stop the laugh
of my heart from tumbling out.”

Anytime I want to feel anything (hurt, love, healing, etc) I know I can read any of Jen’s collections.

She makes all the hurt in the world and the people who feel it, not feel so alone after all.

J.R. Rogue has a way with words and somehow every poem is so easy to connect to. You can feel the emotion in the words and it takes me back to people and places that are now in the past.

There are some poems in this collection that I felt like I was literally having a conversation with myself. I felt so connected to a few that I had to catch my breath and be like “Oh, Jen”. It’s always amazing when you can find that relationship with a book, one where you feel like your voice has been heard. Once again, Jen has given us that.

“Maybe the Phoenix has nothing on you.” Every time I close a collection from Jen, I just sit there and sigh and smile and reflect. I feel like I’m running out of words to describe her work, but man. This collection was so very unique, and with every new one, you can feel Jen’s evolution as a writer. You can feel the despair, longing, hope, triumph, love, fear- you can feel everything. Absolutely everything. The Letters to the Universe series is something special. If you want magic, read Jen. That’s really all I can say at this point. 15/10 recommend.

The way that J.R. Rogue writes so simply, while maintaining the complex emotion that is felt is extraordinary. These poems touched the very core of my being, and although they were written for others they have an openness to them that invites all those who read them in.

J. R. Rogue is rapidly making her way to the top of my favourite poets of all time.

I'm loving the poems in this collection as well as the rest of the Letters for the Universe series. The poems are relatable on an emotional level where you feel as if you're being seen and heard through the author's words.

Hurt. Hope. Love.

That's the three words I felt upon reading this poetry collection.

I could relate to all those feelings all at once because we all have been there.

Thank you for reminding me that I could still feel everything around me.

Maybe you still have some red in your marrow.
Maybe the Phoenix has nothing on you "

What I love about Rogue’s poetry is how specifically it speaks. This volume is a conversation with flesh. She calls to the veins, to the hearts, to the bones. Her thoughts aren’t only her own but also, selflessly, regarding others. Loves in her life. Pain seems to be lifted to pave the way for enduring love!

I believe words are a super power and being able to craft them, to illicit any type of feeling in any type of human is the true gift of life. Rogue, and all her many words!
There is nothing this woman writes that is not gold, that does not resonate with my soul and this collection is no exception. It speaks to pain, love and hope.

"I was built for this.
can feel myself rising up,
growing bolder"

This collection will always and I mean ALWAYS be a part of me now. You can feel every emotion carefully crafted into each poem, and in my opinion that is the most beautiful gift to readers!
