Grey Stanton once thrived in the hard-edged criminal courts. Now on sabbatical, he's writing a book and spending time with his wife and child on their peaceful Texas homestead. Out of the blue, a young woman stops by to ask questions about an old case that Grey had lost. Then he's visited by his former client, Simon Hocksley. Hocksley is a dangerous man on a mission to recover money he stashed before going to jail - and he's convinced that Stanton knows where to find it...
-1 star Some important aspects of the book are not believable (e.g. after a certain point, the lack of a serious police response; pool balls?#@! really?#@!)
+1/2 star Brandon is very good at writing suspenseful scenes. He is also very good at analogies in descriptions.
Years ago, defense attorney Grey Stanton failed to get his client acquitted of robbery, and now the robber is back on the streets, determined to take revenge on Stanton, whom he believes took his stashed money.
