A very detailed yet accessible exposition on the attitudes of both Western and Eastern Christendom towards the Papacy in the pre-schism era, and the development thereof after the ecumenical councils and then after the Crusades. I highly recommend it to anyone (including both Catholics and Orthodox) who wants to really understand the Primacy of Rome without polemics from either side.

Easy read. The book discusses the most important historical events surrounding the question of Roman Primacy from western (Latin) and eastern (Greek) perspectives.
