Recounts the origins of the desire for independence in the colonies that would become the United States, the events that led to open rebellion, and how the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, and discusses its meaning.
I have read many of the A True Book series for young readers and have enjoyed them all. Each has a wonderful kid friendly layout with nice photographs, interesting facts, timelines, lists for additional resources, and a glossary of important key words. This would be a wonderful addition to any elementary or middle school library or classroom. The edition on The Declaration of Independence is probably the best book I have read on the topic for young readers. High school age students would also benefit from this resource.
