"My love of books is largely due to the Sevilla Elementary School librarian. I ran to her to tell on Jeff Sloggins who, after slurping spinach around in his mouth, gagged, choked, then barfed on our table in the school cafeteria." ~Susan Wingate

Being the second book in the series, I was able to catch up quickly since I have not read the first book. This was quite an enjoyable read. The chapters were shorts and maybe reading the book fast for me. Each chapter ends with such a cliff hanger, you have to turn the page to see what is going to happen to Georgette next and all the crazy people in her life. It seems luck just isn't on her side, even five years after the death of her late husband Bobby. Things seem to be looking up to her, however things are not always as they seem she soon learns. People are also not whom they seem to be. At times Georgette isn't even sure who she can fully trust.
This book is full of mystery, and a lot of comical situations. You find yourself laughing along while you root with Georgette. I love her cat Gangster. What a name for a cat. I am assuming I would know a little more about the cat and how he got his name if I had read the first book, which definitely will be added to my list to read. Susan Wingate has written an excellent novel and I just hope she has another one out before long. I can't wait to see what happens in Georgette'e life next. I do hope for love for her and hopefully finding someone to settle with. The book itself ends with a slight cliffhanger, having you already wondering, something else is going to happen. This mystery is not over, so watch out Georgette!
Since the death of her husband, Bobby five years ago, Georgette has been running Bobby’s Diner by herself. It was rough at first between Georgette and Bobby’s grown daughter, Roberta but as the years passed, they became close.
Georgette has found herself a new man. His name is Hawthorne Biggs. He is dashing and in love with Georgette. Georgette’s good friend, Helen returns. Helen and Hawthorne do not get along very well. Helen suspects something is not quite right with Hawthorne. Before Helen can find out if she is right, she disappears. Now it is up to Georgette and Roberts to uncover the truth, even if it hurts.
Easy as Pie at Bobby’s Diner is the second book to Bobby’s Diner. I did not read Bobby’s Diner. Though I had no issues jumping right into this book. I liked Georgette. I thought she was nice but I do admit that she did get on my nerves at first. She was almost too nice that she let people take advantage of her. Though, once you pissed Georgette off, you had better watch yourself. Georgette did have a backbone. This was a nice surprise. Readers will probably figure out who the killer is before the end of the book but you will still want to finish reading until the very end. Overall, I thought this was a fine book. I would visit Bobby’s Diner again in the future.
I read this out of order. I didn't know there was more than one "Bobby's Diner". It didn't matter as this was a great stand alone mystery. It is fast-paced and was a great read. I am eager to get #1 and #3!
From the Midwest Book Review, a review of my latest novel, "Easy as Pie at Bobby's Diner"--the no. 2 book in the Bobby's Diner Series.

Love can be a facade. "Easy as Pie at Bobby's Diner" is the story of widow Georgette, a diner owner who finds love once more in Hawthorne. But when Hawthorne turns out to not be as good as he seems, Georgette and her best friend Roberta find themselves tasked with stopping a mad man to not only save their beloved diner, but to save their town. "Easy as Pie at Bobby's Diner" is an intriguing read, and a very highly recommended pick.
This is a fun book. The women in the book are active, attractive and independent. The young widow, Georgette has found a new man and is engaged with a big rock on her finger. But all is not well. There are sinister people trying to take away Bobby's Diner. Now, Georgette is not going to let anybody take away the one thing that Bobby left her (and his ex-wife) when he died. With humor and spunk Susan tells a moderb story with lots of humor and interesting characters.
This book isn't your girly-girl kinda read. Starts off dark and pensive and moves so fast that your hair will look messy. Wear a scarf and some sunglasses. The dialogue is definitely R-rated but I'm an adult and don't mind colorful language. Great story. Great pacing. Wingate's storytelling voice is up there with the best of them. Thank you. I'll be watching for more Wingate novels.
Okay. I just loved this book. It's going to be one of those books I keep forever. The first one was so good that I had to follow the author and I can't wait for the third book. Fun fun read.
