The Blackberry Patch is an exhilarating, step-by-step journey into the beautiful, lush haven of blackberries! Using all five senses, join author Gina McKnight on a hazardous quest through brambles and swarming varmints to find the ultimate blackberry patch for a delicious, natural treat. Readers of all ages will get lost in The Blackberry Patch. Gina McKnight began writing at an early age, encouraged by her parents, siblings, and teachers. Living near the Appalachian Mountains with her family inspires Gina to help children encounter the beauty of Gods world through outdoor adventure.
A wonderful, nostalgic picture of the blackberry patch of our youth. How I remember those days as a child picking blackberries with my siblings. What makes this wonderful children's book even more appealing is the talent Author Gina McKnight displays with a stroke of her pen, painting the scene as an artist would on canvas. The sights, the smells, the sounds. They are all there. I am sending this lovely book on to my new great-granddaughter, as I know her parents will read it to her over and over. Well, done, Ms. McKnight!
I received this as a goodreads winner. The author also inclued the color me coloring book also. I loved the book. It had great illusstrations and is a very good book for kids.
An enjoyable read and ramble through nature adorns the pages of this book. Gina McKnight uses all her powers of description to take you on a journey that awakens all the senses, and her enthusiasm for spiritual gifts, and nature, shines through the text. The reader's curiosity is awakened about indigenous peoples - The Swanee Indians, and the history of a "sacred place," where "God has tended the radiant patch just for me." This book is recommended for children and adults who delight in sensory experiences! I really love the immediacy of the written word in this book; it transports you right into the moment - Suzy Davies
I can safely say that no book has taken me as close to the nature as this one did. It's a fun book that kids would love and learn from at the same time! The author has employed such a refine and artistic style of writing that it enhances the joy even further. If you have ever picked blackberries, you mustn't miss this book--and if you haven't, then you mustn't miss this book either :)
A lush and breezy read, this book is very highly recommended to all age groups, specifically the kids aged 8 - 15 would fall in love with this book.
I received the "color-me" edition of the book from the members giveaway on LIbraryThing.com. Definitely a read-along with kids between 8-12 as some of the words will be over the kids head and need explaining. That being said, it is a fun read along/ color together with kids. Beautiful, colorful cover and great pictures inside to add your own color and flair. Fun book.
Excellent book for children who love outdoors and nature. I am sharing this book with my gdaughter who has a young son. He will enjoy this much and also the coloring book that goes with it. Thanks so much for sharing the book.

Lead a young child through the adventures of experiencing nature while wandering to the Blackberry Patch with this delightful book. The well sketched black and white illustrations, by Benton Rudd, are ready to be colored! There are eighteen pages waiting to be colored in your own creative imagery. The Book Cover is bright and colorful...One can imagine he/she is there! Recommended for children ages 6 to 12. +This book was donated to me by the author. It does obligate me on my review at all. I offer a Three and a Half Stars rating on this book
I can't wait to receive my copy and share this book with my daughter! The premise is reminiscent of Robert McCloskey's Blueberries for Sal, which is one of our favorite books to read together when she was younger. I'm watching my mailbox for this one!
Updating 2/17/17 We received our book today. My daughter (7) loved reading this book with me today. She says it is a good story with beautiful pictures. I really love the imagery and figurative language throughout, but I was surprised at the challenging vocabulary and syntax. My daughter has read Wonder and other books on that level with little difficulty. She struggled on the first page. But I'm not complaining! We read the book together and talked about the different animals and plants mentioned and drew comparisons to other books she's read. That's a win in my book! :)
